many of the world's largest banks, even took control of a dam in suburban new york and all of it from computers 6,000 miles away. the hackers have been traced to iran. they've been indicted. but no, they've not been arrested. >> these sound like plot lines of a movie, but they're not. they're real crimes committed by real people in the real world. >> reporter: prosecutors say the impact was widespread, with coordinated cyber attacks across the global banking system. from the new york stock exchange to many of the world's financial institutions. hackers were able to take control of the bowman dam in rye brook, new york. although they were unable to open its doors because the dam was off line for maintenance. >> no actual harm resulted from that infiltration, the potential havoc that a hack of infrastructure could wreak is scary to think about. >> reporter: seven iranians

companies at the direction of the iranian government. among the banks were citibank, bank of america, capital express, ing, wells fargo, pnc bank, jpmorgan. when the sites crashed hundreds of thousands of customers were unable to access their accounts and banks were forced to spend millions to get them back online. although the men have not been arrested, investigators say the case demonstrates the reach of the global hackers as well as the reach of the law enforcement. >> no matter where they are, we'll try to reach them. no matter how hard they work to try to hide their identity and trade craft, we'll find ways to pierce that shield and identify them. >> the fact is the hackers may never be arrested. prosecutors admit that. but this case shows what's possible and more needs to be done to protect our

now to the terror investigation in brussels. police say the second man seen on video in the subway station along with another bomber before the explosion. paris terror attack suspects salah abdeslam said today he did not know about the brussels plot. right now belgium is in the second day of public mourning. marci gonzalez joins us with more on the investigation. >> there are random checkpoints and other added security measures in place as that nation grieves and police search for the second suspect they say may still be on the run. >> reporter: today the manhunt in belgium expanding. police now searching for a man captured on surveillance camera inside the subway station along with khalid el bakraoui just before the deadly attack.

suspect believed to have escaped. the two terrorists killed there, leaving behind potentially essential clues. police finding what appears to be a suicide note on a laptop in a garbage can from one of the airport killers, ibrahim el bakraoui, saying he was being in a rush, no longer knowing what to do, in a bad situation, and if he did not act immediately, he'd be in a prison cell like him. investigators believe it is a reference to salah abdeslam, one of the suspects of the paris attacks finally captured just last week. while his attorney denies any connection, police believe abdeslam's arrest may have caused them to panic, accelerating the plans, that left 31 dead and 300 injured, including basketball player sebastian bellen who spoke exclusively to abc news. >> i remember seeing an explosion. the whole time i was just trying to tell myself i'm going to make

thanks to this front here which kind of sunk off to the south, and you can actually see on the wind stream lines the wind coming in from the east off the cooler waters in the atlantic ocean. also some moisture with that wind coming in off of the ocean and a deck of low clouds impeding on to the jersey shore, parts of long island. so definitely cloudier along the afternoon. this front has managed to make it all the way down to near 58 degrees there. the really nice weather where the cherry blossoms are going crazy down in washington, d.c. up near savt -- near 70 already in richmond, virginia. middle 50s in the city. if you head directly south, you're going to be stuck in that marine layer. a place like belmar, 51. 40s across much of long island with more cloud cover there. showers come in after midnight morning.

a brutal beating, a driver survives a plunge from a parking garage, and police pull in some heavy machinery to save some stranded drivers. an investigation has been launched by police in new jersey in to a viral video showing a man repeatedly hitting and kicking a teenager. the video is hard to watch. it shows a man identified as a mixed martial artist and a teenager. police has identified the people in the video and they say the teen is okay. >> it took me back. i was very, very shocked to watch what appears to be a

for no reason at all. so we've made certain that they're not going to see each other, not going to have any interaction between the two. >> lots of people were angered by this. on its facebook page the police department is urging people not to take matters in to their own hands and not to post threats. in baltimore, an suv fell from the fourth floor of a parking garage. the driver said she was pulling in to a parking space when the audi q5 lunged forward, launched through a concrete banner and fell to the sidewalk below. the suv landed on its roof but incredibly the driver was not seriously hurt. finally, police in colorado are hauling out the big guns to help stranded motorists. this is a huge armored vehicle that's meant for major operations and to fight terrorism but after a major snowstorm in the region, it's

hello again. i'm shirleen allicot along with david novarro. we begin this half hour with a tugboat tragedy. the vessel that crashed and sank killing three crew members has been raised from the bottom of the hudson river with a massive crane in westchester county. >> darla miles is in tarrytown with the details. >> the u.s. coast guard is

they were able to raise that tugboat and maintain the structural integrity of the vessel. it was intact. right now we're told they are still working to free the remains of the third crew member, harry hernandez, from the wreckage. just about 7:00 this morning, about a dozen divers jumped in to the icy waters of the hudson river near the tappan zee bridge in tarrytown. first they attached straps from the crane to the wreckage and slowly guided the wreckage to the surface. in just under an hour, the tugboat was above water. one important thing they had to do once it was above water, they had to make sure there was not a fuel leak. then investigators and recovery teams went onboard. all of this was very agonizing for the family of harry hernandez. they stood at the pier and watched, eager to claim the body of their loved one. >> many of his cousins were here

the jetblue flight attendant accused of trying to smuggle 70 pounds of cocaine through los angeles international airport will be in a brooklyn courtroom today. 31-year-old marsha gay reynolds turned herself in to authorities yesterday. tsa officials say reynolds was pulled aside for random screening at l.a.x. on friday and that's when they say she dropped the bag full of cocaine. kicked off her gucci heels, then ran out of the airport barefoot. shh. get used to hearing that if you ride on a certain metro north car. rush hour trains now have one

jurors in the hulk hogan sex tape investigation now speaking exclusively to abc about the case. the pro wrestler sued gawker after the site posted a tape of him having sex with his friend's wife. hogan said he did not know he was being taped. the jury sided with him and believed gawker's first amendment argument was not valid. >> gawker made it clear to everyone they were all about crossing the line. the decision we made was absolutely correct. >> you believe he was emotionally distressed by it? >> if we were all in the same circumstances, how would we feel about it? emotionally we would have all been pretty devastated. >> he's still a human being. >> gawker is not giving up its fight.

it's what we call a marine layer over the atlantic ocean trying to come in from the east. 49 right now for the time being, mostly sunny. i think along the coast they'll tend to cloud up during the afternoon with those clouds coming in from the ocean. wind coming in from the east at 12. gusting to 22 miles per hour. a bit breezy out there at times and that will continue with that speed i think during the course of the afternoon. next seven hours, our computer models have us getting up to 55 by 4:00 in the afternoon and that seems pretty reasonable. it's a backdoor cold front that moved in overnight last night allowing this much cooler air mass located over eastern canada and new england to seep in to the tri-state area. that's why parts of eastern long island and connecticut will just stay in the 40s during the day today. while we should be jealous of the people off to our south and west because washington, d.c. is basking in 70-degree sunshine right now. the place in new jersey that

in to the 60s is somerville, hunter county away from the ocean influence. closer to the coast all bets are off. 48, toms river. 53 at newark. only in the low 40s on the east end of the island. you can see so clearly on these wind stream lines the wind coming in from the east whereas off to the south of the backdoor cold front, the wind is coming in from the south over extreme southern new jersey keeping them in the warmer air mass. you can see some clouds also along the coast through the afternoon and then showers come in late tonight in to tomorrow morning. i think the first half of tomorrow is kind of cloudy. we'll have rain on and off through about midday and we clear out during the afternoon. and saturday looks absolutely beautiful with sunshine from start to finish. a little bit cooler than tomorrow. uv index is moderate. pollen, moderate to high. juniper, elm, and maple is what you have to watch out for if
