as you can see, there is a very active police presence here in east harlem. this all happened around 5:00 this afternoon here at a new york city housing complex called the jefferson houses. this happened near a school, just across the street from 57. we do not have the circumstances surrounding this shooting, but it did happen here at third after near 115th street in east harlem. again, what led up to sha that shooting, we do not have that information just yet. again, a live look out at what's going on here. you can see dozens of police officers here at the scene and then across the street, there are people who are looking trying to figure out what happened. again, a teenager shot in the head. that teen in critical condition at harlem hospital. of course, we will continue to follow this and bring you the very latest tonight on

reporting live in east harlem, carolina lee, channel 7 "eyewitness news." and some kind of dispute on the street. two men in one car getting out stabbing two men in another car. >> police are searching for the killers who just drove off. >> it happened in west babylon. nj burkett on the scene for us. nj? >> reporter: that's right, bill. straight path in long island. imagine the neighbors opening their front door to find two men covered in blood. yes, one of those men later died. tonight, police are trying to find out who stabbed them in what may have been a case of road rage. does he live over there? >> yeah, but i don't know what happened. >> reporter: residents are still in shock four hours after they opened the front door to find two men covered in blood. >> reporter: we know one of them got out of the car and trying to help his friend. >> reporter: judy lives there but asked us not to show her face on television.

pulled up. the driver was actually stabbed, too. he just came for help because he was banging on the door. he came to help his friend and asked my mother for towels to put pressure on the stab wounds. >> reporter: this afternoon, the homicide squad was called to the scene after one of the men was confirmed to have died. investigators now believe it began as a traffic dispute between the victims and several men in another car just a short distance away. >> we think it happened right here. we think both vehicles were path. we think something precipitated the argument right here at the light and they both got out of the car and the incident happened. >> reporter: detectives say the victims were stabbed when the men in the other car confronted them on the roadside. investigators say road rage may be the motive, but they can't rule out the possibility that the two groups knew one another and that there might be some other motive. >> we don't know what

prior dispute between the two groups. we don't know the answer to that question yet. >> reporter: it happened around 9:30 this morning. police say the killers escaped in a white suv with out-of- state plates. the names of the victims have not been released. the condition of the survivor could not be confirmed, and police say they are still waiting to interview him. live tonight, west babylon long island, nj burkett, channel 7 "eyewitness news." another story of violence. this one this connecticut. police investigating an apparent murder-suicide attempt. authorities right now on the scene at 11 governor's lane in bethel. one person is dead, two others with serious injuries. it was a shooting. now it will be investigated as a domestic disturbance. firefighters in new jersey are struggling to get the upper hand on a fire that's tearing through a commercial building. news copper 7 is live just a short time ago. the fire broke out just after 5:00 a.m. and quickly spread. it's unclear if anyone was

so far, there are no reports of any injuries. a jetblue flight attendant accused of trying to smuggle 70 pounds of cocaine is now being ordered to return to california in custody after prosecutors appealed a judge's decision in new york to release marcia gay reynolds to home confinement on half a million dollars' bail. she will remain until april 7 when a hearing was scheduled for los angeles. her lawyer maintains reynolds is innocent. >> this is a very sensational issue, and it is a big public interest. i want to let you know that it's not what it seems to be. you will be surprised where the true facts come out. >> last friday, tsa officials at l.a.x. say reynolds dropped a bag containing $3 million worth of cocaine and then rain after she was pulled aside for a random screening. police on long island are searching for a gunman they say murdered her son in cold blood

it happened in the mariners harbor section. 49-year-old anthony morales opened fire angry over money and damage to his car. 21-year-old anthony rivera was shot in the hid. when his mother idelle came out to help her son, she was also shot and killed. relatives say it was incomprehensible. >> my poor sister trying to help her baby. this is what happened to my sister. >> my son was a great, great kid. he did nothing wrong to anyone. >> police say morales also shot a third person, a man who remains in critical built stable condition tonight. just when it seems the republican race for president couldn't get any more v itriolic, cruz and trump show there are no bounds. senator cruz claims trump

today, a reunion between the victim and his saviers. here's "eyewitness news" reporter marcus solis. >> without them, i wouldn't be here. >> reporter: there's no other way to put it because boiling down the story is simple. statistically speaking, mike should be dead, but here he is thanking the first responders who saved his life. >> i told them i loved him, man, because you know what? they love what they do. they have a passion for what they do, and they care. >> reporter: last month, he was at the irish mini mart on mcclain avenue when he suffered a massive heart attack. yonkers engine 313 responded. there was no pulse so they shocked his heart with the defibrillator then attached the device called the lucas thumper, which administrated chest compressions while paramedics transported him to the hospital. >> it just likes in. we all -- if just clicks in. we all knew what we had to do. >> they told my family that, you know, there was a good chance of brain damage and all but because the gentlemen of

so quick and so early, no damage whatsoever. >> reporter: that despite spending a week in a medically induced coma. other than weakness, he says he feels fine and recently celebrated his 52nd birthday. >> we do cpr all of the time. you hear through the great vine they made it and maybe they didn't. it's great to see them. >> you don't get many people that you do cpr on that you see again. it is a great feeling for us. obviously it is a great feeling for him. >> reporter: for the first responders it's all in a day's work. for mike, a wake-up call. he is no longer smoking a pack a day and is enjoying his new lease on life. channel 7 "eyewitness news." >> one very lucky man. we continue with "eyewitness news" at 6:00, a drive takes a terrifying turn. a piece of metal stab into a car injuring a teenager riding inside. how did this happen? >> now, we saved the best for last today after showers and gusty breezes and cool temperatures early. we're at 70 degrees.

passenger seat of their toyota camry on route 1. he noticed a huge chunk of metal lying in the street but did not have enough time to swerve out of the way but instead drove over it. that's when he heard a huge noise and his son screaming in pain. you can see that piece of metal punctured right through the undercarriage of the car and through the passenger's seat protruding several inches through that. as soon as this happened, patel says he pulled over to the side of the road so he could see his son was losing a lot of blood and the scrap metal 3 feet long several inches wide was poking through that seat. he wanted to make sure his son was okay, of course. let's take a listen to that moment of shock when a father had no idea what was going on at that point. >> i am n. in shock. i don't know how deep it is, what it,how sharp it is, how far did it go inside of him, you know?

exactly where in his body is it? >> reporter: this happened just before 11:00 a.m. in north brunswick. police still do not know where the scrap metal came from. patel is understandably upset that a piece of metal like that could just be lying in the middle of the road. the good news is his son should make a full recovery. he has a huge gash in the left rear of his thigh. he has stitches and will need crutches for a couple of weeks at least. coming up, we'll have much more on the story. reporting live in south brunswick, stefan kim, channel 7 "eyewitness news." still to come, netflix comes clean. the confession that may upset some customers about the popular screaming video service.

there's a pair of cold fronts. there is a little patchy low cloudiness not only tomorrow but especially easter sunday morning. so it's no more than partly to mostly sunny during the day. numbers are chilly north and west tomorrow morning. upper 30s from the island onto the shore. during the afternoon, low and middle 50s. clearing, brisk, turning chillier overnight. 41 in the city, up to 56 tomorrow afternoon. plenty of sunshine, but again, noticeably cooler than today, back down to 42 tomorrow night. probably low cloudiness. if you look at the futurecast, we may look a little gloomy early on, maybe if you are in the hudson valley connecticut not so much. low clouds early. then the clouds tend to thin out during the day and at worst turn partly sunny in the mid- 50s. on monday, the rain's coming back. periods of rain throughout the day tapering off late. we'll dry it out for tuesday

yeah, i had enough. it ends in a 5-5 tie. mets have lost seven in a row in florida. halfway through the sweet 16, the men's ncaa basketball tournament hopes for better games than last night. last night in the south, second seed villanova shot 63% from the floor, knocked off miami 92- 69. wildcats ahead of the elite eight kansas. jayhawks beat maryland 79-63 to advance. in the west, second seeded oklahoma had five guys score in double figures in a 77-63 win over texas a&m. the sooners advance to play oregon. the top seeded ducks beat duke. four games last night. average margin of victory almost 17 points. syracuse plays its sweet 16 game tonight tonight.
