new right now, two victims of the brussels terror attacks confirmed as a missing married couple from the u.s. this as we learn more of the identities of the terrorists. joe and sand doctor are off. we begin with a slash -- sandra are off. we begin with a slashing in manhattan. suspects were beaten and then robbed. this is the recent in the string of violent attacks in the city. it happened on the upper west side. stephen kim has the details. >> reporter: this time the assault happened in the part of the city not used to incidents like this.

a typical way to spend the evening. >> saturday night, holiday weekend. and want to get a little culture. >> i want to feel moved, happy, upbeat. >> reporter: but just after midnight saturday, there was nothing happy or upbeat what happened on 92nd and broadway and it wasn't the sound of theater here. it was the sound of a man crying for help on the train station and the sight of police flooding the neighborhood searching for four men who attacked the 19-year-old. the victim was waiting for the cross town bus while looking at his cellphone when the four men approached him and asked him where he was from. they punched him and slashed his pockets. that victim ran into that subway station as those men chased him. it's a crowded part of the city even late at night, particularly during the weekend. perhaps why some find this attack a bit unusual. >> i wouldn't expect that, no.

we've been here the last times at that time. >> it's weird. it's weird. it makes me wonder what's going on. >> reporter: with all the stabbings recently, many aren't surprised a bit. >> it's new york city. you just have to be on your toes now and in these times, ready for anything. >> reporter: the cops went north on broadway. that victim was rushed to the hospital where he's listed as in serious condition. kim kim d -- staphan kim, eyewitness news. and police say a driver, a 37-year-old man, struck two parked cars and a light pole before crashing into the store. he was taken to the hospital where he died. the victim has not been identified. now to the latest on the brussels terrorist attack.

justin and stephanie shults were living in brussels. they had just dropped off his mother at the airport when the bombs went off. justin turned 30 a few weeks ago. and three people have been charged in those attacks. among them, this man charged with terrorist murder. some belgium media are reporting that shaphu is the man on the right. he's believed to have fled brussels airport after the bombings. police have not confirmed the link. the manhunt continues for this suspect, a 19-year-old syrian man officials are calling very dangerous. as for the airport in brussels, it will remain closed until at least tuesday. experts are assessing damage to the building as well as possible problems with information systems. and an example of just how tense things are in europe right now, a new york-city

evacuated in paris after an anonymous threat was made. the plane was about to take off for jfk. air france evacuated the plane and did a full check. nothing was found. we turn now to the weather. and some rain could interrupt easter sunday! meteorologist jeff smith is here with the details. jeff? >> certainly not during the daylight hours. any rain will wait until very late tomorrow night. but what we will deal with is cloud cover moving in from the atlantic ocean and cool temperatures as well. this high pressure over atlantic canada over here. on the backside of that, wind coming from the east and southeast. if we're lucky, we could break into sunshine easter afternoon before this rain system approaches from the west late sunday night into the early hours of monday. so lows overnight tonight into early tomorrow morning getting down about 38 or so in the park. 30 in belmar. freezing north and west of the city. and because we'll have more in the way of cloud cover tomorrow, that'll limit how

get. only up to 52 or so in the park. only in the mid-40s over eastern parts of long island. if you'll be participating in any type of sunrise easter services in the morning, mainly cloudy skies. temperatures around 40 degrees that. fall accuweather forecast coming up in the next hour. >> thank you very much. flames broke out on the top floor of a three-story building on 12th street earlier saturday afternoon. it took firefighters just under an hour to get the fire under control. one firefighter and another person suffered minor injuries. the cause of the fire is under investigation. a solemn anniversary in the east village. a year ago, a gas explosion there killed two people. family members and community residents came to gather. a memorial stands there now. their families held a vigil and are making sure -- hoping to

remember him by. dozens were left homeless when the buildings came down. it was days before anyone could return, if at all. >> it was our whole life. everything. everything was gone. >> reporter: mildred spent 44 years on the fourth floor of the building when the explosion happened. many are facing manslaughter charges because of a hidden gas line. the line was restored causing the blast. now legislation is being introduced to city council to go after negligent landlords. >> this situation that went on here for months and turned into a tragedy so we don't have that in another location. >> reporter: during that candlelit vigil, nick's mother says not a day goes by she doesn't think about her son and the way he died. the landlord owner will be back

the faa is investigating a close encounter between a drone and a small plane in new jersey. officials say the small plane was getting ready to land at momath when a drone was reported seeing. they did not have to take evasive action to avoid the drone. american airlines forced to apologize to customers after one of its pilots failed a sobriety test. these photos take problem a passenger on that plane are believed to have of that american airlines pilot. investigators say i think this is the wrong video there. but investigators say a tsa agent smelled alcohol as the pilot passed through security in detroit when he arrived for the flight to philadelphia. police say he fail two breathalyzer tests. there you go. and his blood alcohol was over the legal limit for pilots. the flight was canceled and passengers were rebooked on other flights. now to the race for president. bernie sanders comes up with

that a serial robber is preying on elderly women. his latest victim, an 81-year- old woman held up last weekend in prospect heights and threatened with a gun and box cutter. earlier this month, he attacked a 91-year-old woman, pushing her and choking her at gunpoint. some residents say they're becoming more aware of their surroundings. >> it just makes you be, like, more vigilant. make you think about when you're coming home at night. make sure you watch behind your back. when people come behind you into your house. it's alarming. >> reporter: the suspect is believed to be about 5-foot, 10, weighing around 250 pounds. two children contact the police to alert them about a possibly drunk driver from the back backseat of his car. that driver, their own father. police in nebraska say they sent texts to 911 that their father was swerving across the road and they feared for their safety. the children updated officers

and the empire state building, spectacular colors! pastels the led lights on the empire state building. 43 right now. humidity at 74%. winds from the east at 3 miles per hour. it's a warm moisture leading air mass working from the atlantic ocean. there will be more cloud cover, especially tomorrow morning. there may be a little bit of brightening, though. a few peaks of sunshine during the afternoon. a little convertible weather. rain returns late tomorrow night into monday morning. and then we're seasonably cool with sunshine into the middle part of the week before rain tries to make another comeback into thursday. 44 right now in newark. 43 at laguardia. 30s in monte sell low and newburg -- monticello and newburg. and you can see these low clouds kind of working their way in from long island sound from the atlantic ocean. and they'll continue to do that. lower and thicken overnight tonight and tomorrow morning. here's our futurecast by 7:00 in the morning.

a lot of 30s in the outlying areas. clouds around. during the afternoon, though, we do expect a few breaks in the cloud cover. so a little bit of sunshine. and areas farther away from the zeros stand the best chance of getting well into the mid- to upper 50s because you'll be away from that cooler, atlantic influence. here's that rain coming in very late tomorrow night. we're talking closer to 3:00 a.m. monday morning in new york city. a little earlier than that over parts of new jersey. by 7:00 monday morning, it is raining across much the area, even through about midday. and during the afternoon on monday, we try to clear things out and try to get temperatures near up to 60 degrees. here's your accuweather forecast. overnight, mostly cloudy. down to about 38. 40 at 7:00 in the morning under mainly cloudy skies. those clouds will be followed by some peaks of afternoon sunshine. high getting up about 52 or so for tomorrow night.
