here, it was busy, and he heard somebody yell the word car. then all of a sudden people started jumping out of the way. this suv smashed through the prestige barbershop on long island sending two people to the hospital with minor injuries. this would have been a lot worse. >> he just stuck his head out of the window and said everyone move i can't stop the car. >> you see a car that was not speeding, but driving towards the window and then slammed through it and kept driving. i heard the guy saying and yelled that the brakes are not stopping. >> reporter: we don't know why the brakes failed to work. it happened just before 5:00 on friday afternoon at this strip mall near jackson avenue. witnesses say that people were bleeding, some suffering neck and leg injuries. >> we grabbed some alcohol bottles, some first aid stuff. we went over there and started helping out. they had paramedics and everything that took over.

the one-hour special edition on sunday at 11:00. breaking news out of japan where officials have just raised the death toll from two powerful earthquakes. the officials are now saying that 29 people have died. right now crews are going around looking for more survivors and thousands are homeless. josh einiger is following the developments. >> this week most people around the globe have heard for their world class oyster industry. but tonight for the second night in a row it's the scene of devastation after the second of twin earthquakes that ravaged a city of nearly a million people. cameras were trembling tonight as they shook in southern japan having a magnitude of 7.3 and briefly set off their tsunami warning. so far they have been blamed for 19 deaths though, likely to raise as this comes on top of yesterday's quake that would

still he lost a third of his land, but the 1930s house turned bar is still there. treating everyone who walks in like they are in his family's home. >> we just try to treat people right, make them want to come back. and yeah. >> reporter: in little falls darla miles channel 7 eyewitness news. a firefighter in new jersey recovering tonight from an injury he suffered when the second floor of the house suddenly collapsed. it broke out on forest street and jersey city last night. firefighters thought it was under control so they left around midnight. around 6:00 this morning the fire reignited. when firefighters went inside, one of them, from the second floor the floor gave way. >> and extended into two occupied buildings. >> there were five buildings involved. two were occupied, three were vacant. >> reporter: no residents were hurt, but 10 people homeless. the cause of the fire under

new at 11:00 a deadly tiger attack at a zoo in florida. a zoo keeper was mauled to death by a malan tiger. it is not physical to the public and the zoo said that guests were never at risk. authorities had to wait for a tranquilizer to kick in before they were able to get to the victim. the tiger was later put down. today marks three years since the boston marathon bombing and the city is honor the victims. a ringing bell was once a sign of remembrance. in addition the officials joined by survivors and the families to lay a wreath at the marathon finish line. that is where two pressure cooker bombs went off during the 2013 race killing three people and leaving more than 260 hurt. the city also held a moe moment of silence this afternoon at 2:49. no votes on the highway that they will be very clear. having a pretty good time

interstate. and eyewitness news says that the trail came on his truck and that it caused that boat to come off their trailer. southbound lanes were closed for two hours. if gnatly nobody hurt. a major shake up at the housing authority tonight following a series of deadly elevator accidents in the bronx. five employees have been disciplined and the head of elevator services has been replaced. they are also making changes to improve response and emergencies and among them more staff, training, more accountability, and improved communications. the agency plans to create a building code monitoring system. after a couple of hours of treatment, he got back on the plane and flew off.
