what killed him. but first a young man that they say was high on drugs. barges in the mosque of new york city and attacks. tonight he's under arrest, but not before he was chased out by the angry worshipers. one of the men he attacked is still in the hospital. good evening it's 6:00, i'm bill ritter. >> i'm liz cho. the surveillance tape would capture most of the chaos at that mosque in queens. it happened so quickly that folks inside reacted by chasing the attacker. >> the cops say that it is still high taking off his clothes. that's when he was caught. >> reporter: kristin thorne with our lead story tonight. >> reporter: no doubt that this alleged rampage was drug induced, but doesn't constitute a hate crime. those with the jamaica muslim center say that they believe this man did attack them

>> a stranger came inside and wanted to show the proof. >> reporter: this video shows what happens with the centers, trying to get him to calm down. >> suddenly he started punching, kicking our brothers. >> reporter: the 26-year-old was hay on drugs during the incident. several of the members ended up in the hospital including the 69-year-old. who has head injuries. they went after her as he ran out of the muslim center. >> he then told me about the job and that i was screaming. i was screaming. and i was looking to helping other people. >> reporter: he then got into the brother's car and ripped off the rear-view mirror, arresting him just a few blocks away and that when officers would approach him that he took off his clothes.

here immediately and that they were able to arrest this person and within minutes. the queen's da is not treating this as a bias crime, that they believe that it was. >> and then they started hating us. >> reporter: that i did speak to a man that is a member of the mosque that knows that he has many muslim friends and so he is very confused about how it all happened, being charged with assault, criminal mischief and harassment. we are live in queens, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> thank you. we are learning new details tonight about the sudden death of prince, the autopsy completed this afternoon that there were no signs of trauma and that it does not appear to have been a suicide and that they will be releasing new details beyond that. last seen at 8:00 on wednesday night, that they were found unresponsive on thursday this morning and inside that elevator.

time later. those staff members have been unable to contact prince yesterday morning. and that they went to check on them. and that they found him unresponsive and called 911. >> that is happening just yesterday morning and that on prince, they are not expected for several weeks. back here in our area in brooklyn something right out of the wild west, happening in the streets of coney island. but gun violence and new york city that the victim is an innocent bystander. the 57-year-old, she is now in the hospital. the face shot up. and tonight that they are talking exclusively. tonight. >> she was headed home. that she was almost there and just a couple blocks away when suddenly two men, they started shooting at each other. right here on mermaid avenue as they did not hit each other that they would hit the 57-year- old. in the face. and today that her husband, they are so worried on whether

die and spoke exclusively to eyewitness news. >> it's a beautiful spring day, mermaid avenue in coney island that would look as peaceful in the five burros. yesterday that it was a shooting gallery. >> and the guys, that they would stub that car. and that they just heard boom, boom, boom. and it is scary when that happens, just scary. >> reporter: caught in the hail of gunfire as she was shot in the face. and a bullet broke a bone above her chin. and that she is still there that they will need to get it out that they wart home when they called. >> somebody shot me and that you can see the phrase. >> reporter: we used to sit outside all summer, but to sit outside, bang, bang, bang, so you stay in the house. >> and they have watched as this area becomes increasingly dangerous. >> and you can see the corner

what i felt. and that i was ready. that she was pretty angry. and because that they were in a stupid place for somebody. >> reporter: she was to have surgery today in bellevue to remove that bullet that is still lodged in her face. no one in custody for this shooting as they were wearing cars and both drove away. reporting live jim dolan channel 7 eyewitness news. >> no word on what caused that condo complex in long island to go up in flames, leaving a dozen people homeless tonight as they would take near minutes for them to race through that second floor condo in medford around midnight. and they would spread to at least eight other buildings. the firefighters would evacuate the resident quickly, just one cat that was rescued, given the oxygen. the presidential candidates, all of them are

tuesday next week. that they were in pennsylvania and rhode island and all of them heading to the polls. hillary clinton, the democratic front runner, campaigning in new haven tomorrow. and then on sunday in bridgeport. campaigning in pennsylvania today, focusing on the wages, and the government spending. >> and i'm very excited about harriet tubbman and the other women. that will be included. i want to make sure that they are making that money. the wealth and the capabilities to rebuild the inner cities. >> sanders hosting the campaign in new haven sunday. another in hartford come monday. elsewhere for the republican, donald trump is vowing to start acting more presidential as the top aids say that the gop front runner would promise the republican leader that he will modify his bombastic tone in order to appear more presidential.

cell phone. cops really want to get these guys. here is eyewitness news reporter rob nelson. >> i'm upset because i have kids that live here for many years on this block. it is getting worse. my house has been broken into twice. >> reporter: that's the reaction from residence after police released video of one of two recent attacks in this queens neighborhood. the second attack shown here have it on sunday when three men attacked a 32-year-old man from behind. and before taking off from their cell phone and wallet. >> they will be getting very bad now and they need to do something for this community. >> reporter: they would suffer those fractures and the lacerations to their head and face and was taken from the scene along 77th street to jamaica hospital in critical, but stable condition. the first incident would happen just a day before on saturday, around the corner. near glen moore avenue. punching, kicking a 25-year-old

cops say that the man fell into the trench about 15 feet deep. the construction site happens to be near a medical center. emergency room doctors there rushed to the scene to help. >> as i saw it that we cannot really do anything for this guy in there and except just not make it work. to hold his head to make sure there is no movement to the spine with the high risk of the neck fracture. >> what a doctor as their name has not been released for their head and neck injuries.

we will clear out nicely in the afternoon. in the meantime a couple of showers during the evening hours of tonight that you have been getting the areas north of new york city. that i know it will look a little threatening, but it is really not that bad and that camera almost exaggerates that threatening look to the sky. and trying to sell it here as the temperature right now of 76. despite the clouds that have moved on here with that south wind coming around 5 miles per hour. the normal high is only 64. so we are 14 degrees above that. and here are your headlines with a couple of showers mainly during the evening hours. like i said kind of a slow start with clouds and perhaps even a shower south of the city. breezy during the afternoon, not quite as warm, but still above the lower 70s. chilly tonight with some frost.

and temperatures near normal. upper 70s in newark as you were in the the lower 80s for those two locations earlier this afternoon. much cooler though on long island where we are getting that wind coming in from the south, warming up the rest of the region, but they will keep that coastal area, south facing coastal areas cooler. 65 right now in iceland on the east end. well into the upper 70s right now. here is the radar picture that you can see that there is not a whole lot going on. but when you get that shower that you could come down fast and furious for about 5 to 10 minutes before they exit and that is exactly what has been happening over the northern parts of the county with a couple rumble of thunder that will be moving through bedford right now. about to move into the northern part of fairfield county. that will cross over the new york/connecticut border momentarily. another little batch of the light showers and the sprinkles near sandy hook, new jersey. say the jamaican bay queens,

a county, that's about it. we'll miss that moisture plume that will happen into the atlantic culture. standing well off to the west of the ohio valley. that is why tomorrow they will start off on a fairly cloudy no. scattered showers or thunderstorms during the overnight hours, especially early. maybe a shower early. the accuweather forecast for tonight mostly cloudy. it's a stray shower. some breaks of sunshine, still 71 though. chillier tomorrow, down to the midtown. a little warmer on monday. 80 degrees is possible and not too far south. all by tuesday. >> they did not need to plant the gardens.
