into a home with five children the mother talks exclusively with eyewitness news about the chilling coast call. i'm david novarro. >> and i'm shirleen elliot. gunfire broke out over the weekend in huntington station. kristen? yes. i spoke exclusively with the homeowner and she said there were five kids in her living room when the bullets rang out. in total, nine bullets fired at her house here and the neighboring house. yessica gomez said that the only reason that the bullet did not fly through the window and hit the kids is because the window glass is double paned.

much more on the next half hour. meanwhile, the fire department spent the morning butt putting out hot spots in brooklyn. the 6-alarm fire spread to 5 other buildings. nine people suffered 9or injuries and 13 have been displaced. a man is under arrest in the bronx, charged with punching and killing a neighbor in a fist fight. officers found 74-year-old felix rodriguez unconscious on the floor of the elevator and hospital. 57-year-old joaquin feliciano was charged with manslaughter. the board of directions

accusing mayor deblasio's campaign team of breaking the law, and it's all about politics. in a strongly worded letter, the response coming from a report from the new york state of elections. laurence laufer accused the board of, quote, a am shocking lack of understanding. the letter came two days after a memo suggested that the mayor's team side stepped campaign finance laws to support certain democrats for the state senate. it says that money donated directly to political committees who in turn contributory candidates. this violates specific campaign rules.

$11,000 in donations. the mayor's campaign lawyer insists laws broken but that the extra is common writing, quote, there is nothing novel about the 2014 democratic party campaign to electric democratic candidates to the state senate other than your attempt to selectively criminalize it. this investigation came after complaints, and some republican leaders believe that the probe is just the beginning of trouble for the deblasio administration. we'll keep you posted on air and online. turning to overseas, president obama is spending more troops over to syria to fight isis. up to 250 personnel will be deployed and bring the number to roughly 300 up from 50 special operation forces currently in syria. the president said none of the new forces will participate in direct combat.

a sinkhole swallows up a street and a man's bubble advantage is short and a kid steals the show at the nba but we'll begin with dramatic scenes in a busy intersection in china. you gotta see this and look closely. you will see a giant sinkhole opening up and an alert policeman noticed the crack forming and put cones out to divert the pedestrians and cars around the area. no one was hurt. the coast guard once again had to divert the resources to save a man who thought walking on water in the bubble was a good thing. it was the second time that he

cvs is recalling organic herbal tea for possible salmonella. it affects the cartons with a best buy date of march 18, 2018. the recall comes after an ingredient from a raw material supplier tested positive for salmonella in another company product. new at noon, more evidence that laundry detergents packets pose a significant risk to toddlers. the u.s. poison control center said it received more than 62,000 reports of exposure in children younger than 6 in 2013 and 2014. 60% involved detergent packets including two deaths. parents are reminded to keep packets far out of the reach of children. and much more news ahead. in our next half hour, a fast- moving fire rips through residential buildings.

we continue to follow breaking news. patriots quarterback tom brady must serve a 4-game suspension stemming from the so-called deflate gate scandal. a federal appeals court overturned a a lower court ruling. as of now, brady must serve a 4- game suspension next season. police on long island are looking for the gunman who fired shots into a home from a car. several people were in the home at the time. no one was hurt. mayor deblasio is likely to face questions following a report, accusing him of getting involved in fundraising activity. the board of elections said that deblasio may have broken

in a fire that killed her partner. the incident island in 2014. the officer was killed responding to the fire and his partner was injured. zachary turned down a plea deal and if convicted will now face life in prison. authorities say that a man walked into a newark church and assaulted a priest. 33-year-old sean swinton apparently assaulted the priest before fleeing. several others followed him and flagged down a control car. -- patrol car. he is charged with simple assault. also in new jersey, north seventh street and patterson, a child was hit and killed by a car. the driver of the car that hit

church and stayed at the scene. no charges have been filed. students at a small wisconsin high school back in class after a shooting at their prom. on saturday, a teen opened fire. and police shot and killed the teen. >> reporter: good afternoon. there is heightened security at the high school today and counselors on hand after an attack that could have been so much worse. a small town still in shock this morning as police try and understand why this 18-year-old allegedly plotted a rampage at a high school prom. >> we have another shooter. >> reporter: police say the former high school student, jacob wagner, was armed with a high-powered rifle and large

clip when he opened fire. an officer patrolling the parking lot outside the prom heard the gunfire and took down the shooter right away. >> he did what he needed to do and took care of the, you know -- he probably saved a lot of lives. >> reporter: officials say that their quick actions probably saved many lives. >> you never think it's real medical it happens to you. >> reporter: wagner displayed this gun on instagram. his friends say he was a hunter and that a girl at the school broke up with him last month, and his grandfather said that wagner may have been bullied. but life can change in an instant and it certainly did,

an apparent case of road rage on the upper east side is under investigation. police say that two drivers got into a fight on east 63rd. one stabbed the other multiple times and fled. that victim tried to drive

ended up crashing. no word on his condition. they are looking for a man in dredlocks looked to be driving a ford a 29-year-old pats' player died saturday night at his home. the team released a statement saying, quote, difficult to believe that someone so young and in the prime of his life is no longer with us. pennsylvania police are investigating why a church parishioner shot another, and the shooter isn't facing charges. police say it started with a dispute between a group of ushers and an unarmed churchgoer. tensions escalated and the usher shot the man in the chest, killing him.

taking a look at the beautiful shot there, and we will see the clouds and see breaks of sun coming through there at times and you can still get a sunburn because the sun is getting stronger. just a high, thin layer of clouds. 65 at noon time, and that's our high so far. 91 is the record, and it can get hot this time of year, and showers will show up late tonight and tomorrow afternoon, thunder. there is the uv index and the pollen count is very high, and that will go on over the next couple weeks and grasses will build 72 at tom's river and 70 in bellemare. the wind is coming out of the southeast, up and over, and we will see this streaming down and keep sagging south and bring us rain and all of this will sweep off to the north.

and all the futurecast, that will get going midnight after midnight early tomorrow morning, rain for the morning commute and we get a break and then get the rain and maybe a thunderstorm after school and for the afternoon commute. so thunder threat tomorrow with the front sagging to the south and once it goes southward, wednesday, gorgeous with abundant sunshine. 71 inland and cooler at the coast and 57 tomorrow and clouds and rain in the morning. and then it's shower or thunderstorm popping up in the afternoon, and then wednesday, look at that. abundant sunshine with cooler weather coming in on thursday, and we kind of go up and down in april and things will get warmer here in a week or so and looking good for the weekend. saturday and sunday, 69 and 66.
