maryland, delaware, rhode island, connecticut and pennsylvania. the biggest prize of the day, donald trump and hillary clinton are hoping to sweep all five states and trump is taking aim at his rivals after they teamed up to try to take him down. it's "your voice, your vote" and abc's kenneth moton is live in bethesda, maryland. good morning, kenneth. >> reporter: >> reporter: good morning, ryan and diane. here in maryland donald trump and hillary clinton have double-digit leads. voters will head to the polls and we'll find out if those attacks on the front-runners had an impact. the cruz/kasich alliance was in full effect and under attack by front-runner donald trump. >> if you look at these two guy, one is 1 for 41. the other one, he's like a total disaster. >> reporter: even attacking kasich's eating habits. >> i have never seen a human being eat in such a disgusting fashion.

[ cheers and applause ] >> reporter: no one has clinched his or her party's nomination but the candidates are still shopping around for running mates. clinton has a short list and cruz is said to be considering former rival now supporter carly fiorina. diane and ryan. >> never a dull moment. kenneth, thank you. now a quick look at the delegate count, 172 up for grabs on the republican side. nearly 400 for the democrats. donald trump currently has 884 delegates inching closer to that magic number of 1,237. ted cruz is next with 554 and john kasich has 146. hillary clinton has more than 1,900 delegates. she would need 2,383 to clinch the nomination. bernie sanders has 1,172. >> stay with abc news for the

election. we'll have complete coverage online and on air and live interview with bernie sanders later on "good morning america." turning to the weather. a lot of the middle part of the country is on alert for severe storms today. >> from austin to omaha is likely to see multiple tornadoes, as well as hail, heavy rain and thunderstorms. on the radar you can see the trouble spots. more from abc's lauren lyster. >> reporter: hail pounding the deck of this northern illinois home. more than a thousand miles away, san antonio, texas, getting hit hard too. storms moving through south central texas with warnings of damaging winds and possibly a weak tornado. abc's rob marciano was there tracking today's severe weather. >> from dallas to wichita to lincoln, nebraska, big-time hail, likely large tornados that may go into the darkness hours and this whole threat pushes to

far, will bring the most vial lent violent storms. >> reporter: these pebbles pelting the city north of l.a. and making this boat rescue off the coast difficult. the choppy water was too much for this small sailboat. fortunately no one was hurt. strong winds causing problems too picking up and tossing this heavy canopy at a car wash. this sign getting toppled. a high wind advisory in effect overnight in several southern california counties. lauren lyster, abc news, new york. president obama is back in washington this morning. he wrapped up his trip to europe on a serious note meeting with allies on the threat of terrorism and other problems in the middle east. in public comments before a private meeting the president said european nations have to do more in the fight against isis. he called this a defining moment for europe. and there's new information this morning about the investigation into prince's death. the minneapolis star tribune reports that the investigation is focusing on drugs.

focusing on the role that painkillers played in the 57-year-old's fatal collapse last week and it quotes an attorney for prince's two late siblings who claim he was told about, quote, substantial problems with painkillers and cocaine more than a decade ago, but many longtime friends of prince say they have never observed him using drugs. the family of a 12-year-old boy shot dead by police in cleveland has settled with the city for $6 million. tamir rice was playing with a pellet gun when officers arrived and one opened fire within two seconds. the head of the police union said the family should use the money to educate kids about the dangers of playing with real and replica guns, an idea the rice family attorney called tone deaf. the man who alleges he was sexually abused by former house speaker dennis hastert is now suing has territory for unpaid hush money. the man's breach of contract suit claims has territory promised him $3.5 million to stay quiet about the alleged decades old abuse.

a brush fire in southern california is threatening homes. heavy rain did little to curb it fire will grow. right now it covers about six acres in riverside county. and this morning, there's a new warning about the spread of the zika virus. the world health organization says there's the potential for a marked increase in the number of zika infections in the coming months and to expect them in more countries. zika is spread by mosquitoes but can also be sexually transmitted. scientists are concerned it could reach the southern u.s. and parts of europe by this summer and there's no treatment for vaccine. erin andrews and the two companies involved in her case have settled. andrews was awarded $55 million last month after a jury found the companies and her stalker at fault for posting that video on

very impressive. drivers in the middle of the u.s. may have to think quickly as well if they come upon flooded roads this morning. whatever you do, try not to drive into any standing water. the wet roads will extend into the northeast and down to the gulf coast. there may also be snow in the western mountains. if you're flying airport delays are likeliest in dallas, denver, kansas city, washington, philadelphia, new york and boston. and we're learning more this morning about a plane crash right in the middle of a south florida neighborhood. >> cell phone video captured the moments just after the crash. three people on board the private beach craft were severely burned. no one on the ground hurt. despite the raging fire which was touched off when the plane hit a house where the homeowner was inside. >> when the plane hit his house, it actually bounced over one house and ended up in the yard of the next house so obviously people. >> the faa says the pilot was

at the nearby airport in pompano beach when the accident happened. the victims, one woman and two men, were burned over 30% of their bodies. new details into the execution style murders of eight family members in southern ohio. authorities have confirmed that a facebook threat was made against the youngest victim, 16-year-old chris rodin. they're pursuing other leads as the manhunt intensifies. commercial marijuana grow operations were found in three of the four homes where the murders took place. dozens of property owners in colorado springs are seeking federal aid because they say their homes are in landslide zones they didn't know about. recent heavy rain has triggered slides in the area. those homeowners claim they were never told about the potential threat before they bought their homes. they now hope federal assistance will help them buy out properties that have been damaged or are at risk. and this surveillance video shows a pickup truck slip off a jack trapping a 17-year-old in san diego.

anile made his metropolitan opera debut this past weekend but he was wearing jeans, a t-shirt and his sneakers. >> there's a reason. he only had five minutes' notice he would have to sing the fourth act for the lead tenor in verdi's "otello" because that singer last minute lost his voice. no intermission between the third and fourth acts so anile threw on a black cape, ran out and sang the role while the other man played the part. there he was demonstrating the skills, anile says he wasn't nervous because he's sung the show many times all over the world but never before at the met and to complete the opera singer's dream, anile got a standing ovation during the curtain call. >> bravo, sir, bravo.
