they are alleged members of two rival gangs whose violence led to the detects of five people. one was sadie mitchell, who was killed in 2009. the suspects are allegation expected to face multiple charges of drug trafficking and robbery. the suspects will be arraigned later today. new at noon, news commenter 7 over a warehouse fire in wood bridge township, new jersey. it sent thick smoke shooting from the roof of it it. no word on what caused the fire. at this point, there do not appear to be any injuries tied to the fire. a federal judge just approved a plea deal, allowing new york real estate heir robert durst to serve 7 years on a weapons charge.

new at noon, the water may be a little too cold for many of us, but apparently it's perfect for the whale here visiting us next to long island. an eyewitness news viewer captured the whale. birds flocked around the whale, while it continuously surfaced and caught fish. when i'm visiting west and i see the whales, i'm like yay.

dramatic video of a plane crash. a salmon frenzy, and a soccer game's adorable delay. just some of the stories that were caught on camera, and caught our attention. we begin with a pilot's desperate fight for survival, following a fiery plane crash in alabama. security cameras captured the cessna 421 going down into a tree. business owner, aubrey moore saw the wreck and rushed outside to help. moments later, a fireball engulfed the flame. they saw movement in the cockpit. they continued toward the burning wreckage and saw the door open and the pilot tumble out. >> all hell is breaking loose. it happened so quick, i didn't have time to think.

and we continue to follow breaking news on long island. two people were hurt after a gun accidently went off in a doctor's office. newscopter 7, as you can see, is over the scene on long beach road in oceanside. >> this is what we know at this point. nassau county police say two people accidently shot, one in the leg, one in the foot. both were taken to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. we have a crew headed to the scene. we don't know why a gun was at that site at this time. as soon as we learn any information, we'll bring it to you with the details. the suspect accused of murdering a man in the manhattan subway station is now in police custody.

by police in philadelphia. he's accused of stabbing herbert burgess to death. police say velasquez went to the scene and stabbed him. a new report of a shakeup in the new jersey state assembly. in a published report, bergen county democratic party chairman lou stalatto says a high ranking democrat approached him -- peter reportedly says he has the support of the majority democratic caucus. a long island man will be in court today accused of threatening workers with a crossbow. 70-year-old harold geurtski is facing harassment charges.

called the town supervisor's office and made violent threats to two employees. police say five robbers were caught on surveillance video from a pharmacy moments after jumping a woman on west end avenue in manhattan. they stole the woman's purse, then used her credit cards at the dwayne reed on broadway and 94th street. new at noon, authorities arrested five former cargo workers at jfk airport in a scheme to steal foreign currency from carried on international flights. investigators say the conspiracy spanned over four years. they say the cargo handlers targeted mail they believed contained foreign currency, and exchanged the money at the airport. investigators say they assigned cargo handlers to flights where they could steal mail. five firefighters were going to figure out what sparked a massive fire at a

the fire created a plume of smoke that could be seen for miles. it took 150 firefighters to put it out. 12 nearby chicken coops were not affected. no one else was injured. dangerous weather broke out overnight. massive storms in the heartland that brought pouring rain, and dangerous winds. abc's brandy hit is in oklahoma city with more. >> reporter: after a long night of severe weather striking the heartland, hail and lightning revealing tornadoes forming in the darkness. >> you can see the dust kicking up. >> reporter: this is the aftermath. a roof ripped off this home in luther, oklahoma. debris scattered hundreds of feet away, along with more damage throughout oklahoma city. >> extremely loud. very quick. very fast moving, but very loud. >> reporter: funnel clouds were also spotted in texas, where powerful storms barreled through, flipping tractor trailers on their sides.

accidently went off at a doctor's office. >> reporter: we are here at long beach road. this is 3227. this is actually a podiatrist's office. dr.matthew nester, officials tell us was accidently shot in the foot. accidently. when an apparently an associate of his, a friend was showing him a gun. this is a retired police officer, is what witnesses here at the scene have been telling us. the retired police officer came here around 10:30 this morning to show dr. nester an old gun, and accidently, this gunfired. hitting this podiatrist in the foot. we also hear news that a second person may have been hit as well. that a second person went to the hospital with an injury to the leg. all of this going down around 10:30 this morning. dr.nester and someone else, we understand has been taken to the hospital.

now, michelle charlesworth, channel 7 eyewitness news. family and friends will gather today to remember a 7- year-old westchester girl, who died suddenly over the weekend. lily will be laid to rest today. she attended greenville elementary. they can confirm her death was an isolated event with no risk to anyone else. new video from massachusetts. investigators say the driver sped through several towns near boston, weaving in and out of traffic on a busy highway, and through a neighborhood. this all happened about two hours ago. the chase ended when the driver stopped at a building, got out of his car, and that car burst into flames. investigators arrested the man shortly after. a school bus driver in pennsylvania is facing charges after a student touched a live power line. police say 11-year-old tyler cunningham was on the bus, when

tyler says he volunteered to help. he says he went out, picked up the wire and that's when he got burnt. tyler was not seriously hurt. ryan was fired by the bus company. new details about a university of missouri professor caught on camera assaulting a student journalist. she claims she was fired because she was white. melissa click says the university's decision to get rid of her was all about racial politics. last fall, she was scene calling for muscle to remove student journalists covering a campus protest. now to a shocking 911 call. a police veteran confessing to a dispatcher that he shot his wife to death. after his arrest, the sons of the victim sharing their relief he is behind bars for the murder. abc's ryan smith has more. >> what can i help you with? >> i just shot and killed my wife.

911 call from 57-year-old jeff hawkins monday afternoon. >> you said you just shot and killed your wife? >> yes. >> reporter: hawkins, a 12 year veteran of the chicago police force, displaying little emotion, as he calmly tells the dispatcher he killed his wife, joanne hawkins. >> are you still armed or with a gun? >> i'm not a threat to anybody. i'm a former police officer. i'm not sure what happened. >> is she still breathing, or conscious, and able to talk? >> no. >> reporter: finally, breaking down when the dispatcher asked him to describe exactly what happened. >> i came home, she was here. she just kept saying, talk to my lawyer. and i don't know. it just happened. i never wanted to do anything. i'm all right. i mean, i'm not all right.

now an eyewitness news exclusive. we're hearing from a man who says he was attacked manhattan because he is gay. brandon malone will need four weeks to recover after being slashed on the ear, and tearing a tenden in his wrist. it happened saturday morning in hell's kitchen. they were attacked by a group of men, who never said a word before hitting them with glass bottles. >> my friend, the short, very, flamboyant. i do drags so i was wearing one of the t-shirts i sell. as we passed them, they must have come up behind me with the glass bottle they had in their hand.
