fast and furious. this is video sent to us by a viewer. it's video of a parking lot in plains bureau new jersey. >> matthew gavon says he can't leave the station because of the flash flooding, heavy downpours causing problem. 22,000 customers are without problem in morris county new jersey and 1,000 customers have no power in somerset county. let's get an update from meteorologist jeff smith. >> o particular is the western part of middlesex county and new jersey, a tremendous amount of rain. we have a flash flood until 8:30 this evening. floods cover new jersey and flood advisories along the i-80 corridor. there's another batch of rain setting up there. the heaviest rain is south and west

balloon in the u.s. ever. ntsb investigators are heading to the scene. kristin from our system station ktrak is at the scene in lockhart texas. christine. >>reporter: sandra, it was an early morning hot air balloon ride in the texas hill country that went terribly wrong. the caldwell county sheriff's department said they received 911 calls after 7:30. they said many of the eyewitnesss thought they were looking at a car ac flames, but when the first responders got here to the pasture, they say they found a large basket from a hot air balloon. investigators believe that that balloon came into contact with high voltage power lines. they say at least 16 people were onboard. and many of the eyewitnesss who have talked with us say they can't believe what they saw. >> first i heard a wish, like a wishing sound and then it just a

and then a little bit later, i heard another one. >> now, again, we know 16 people onboard. investigators have not released the names of the passengers. we only know the name of the pilot. a man named skip nickels. an experienced pilot. he owned the harlem of texas balloon ride. he took off from various locations. we're learning to learn the identifications of all ntsb is here and the faa is helping. the ntsb investigators are expected to arrive late tonight or early tomorrow morning. live in -- kristin, live. >> so many questions to be answered. you can find updates and information around the clock at abc7ny.

no arrest in fatal shooting of a father in brooklyn. he was gunned down in bed stye before 1:30 this morning. he was on his way to pick up his 3-year-old daughter from his mother's apartment. police say bird had been shot once in the chest. he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. new concerns about the zika virus in the u.s. after health officials says mosquitos those in england are telling pregnant women not to travel to florida. eyewitness news tim fletcher is in union square. tim. >>reporter: health officials issuing this warning about traveling to south florida, but many in new york are having second thoughts. health officials in south florida take steps like spraying mosquitos

jeff, we have got some rough weather around the area. is that rain still moving through jersey? >> it is, it has weakened a little bit, but our radar estimates of half of rain have been verified. we've had some people measures half a foot of rain in that area in south western middlesex county. a short period of time. a matter of here's down towards the empire state building. not raining too moderate. the high on the day got up to 84 when the sun was out earlier, but the sun and the warmth and the humidity helped spark the storm late this afternoon. 84 is your normally. 98 is the record back in 1988. rainfall in the city, point .17 inches. it's a different story over central parts of new

through tonight and tomorrow and monday can be on the heavy side with big downpours with all this humidity around. it doesn't mean it's going to be raining the entire time. clouds tick around and during the -- the clouds stick around on tuesday. the first week of august, first full week of august looking normal temperature wise. flash flood warning in effect still until 8:30 p.m. for south western portions of mi good news is, the trend is good here. the trend is our friend sort of speak because the rainfall coming down at 1 to 2 inches per hour is weakening and subside, but the damage has been done. radar estimates of upwards of 5.8 inches and this goes to show you how good our radar technology is these days. someone measures exactly that
