leaving two people dead. elliot county city -- cars went down main street. people had to form a human chain to rescue a driver strapped in his car. rushing water carved a ditch into the street. one official says every structure on main street was damaged. we're going to turn to the latest on the deadly balloon crash in texas. new video shows the heart of texas hot air balloon 7:00 saturday morning. it crashed over farm land about 45 minutes later near a row of high tension power lines. the ntsb says weather conditions at the time will be one focus of its investigation. >> cloud cover, the visibility, and the winds, but we'll be looking at the temperature to see if the temperature

e -- the density altitude may have -- >> identifying the identity of the bodies are a long process. they're confirming 16 people were killed. a scary situation is playing out for the nypd. someone has been taunting officers. apparently using a lost or stolen police radio. eyewitness news reporter aj ross is live in midtown with the latest information for us. aj. >>reporter: that's right, sharl. dispatchers have been broadcasting to officers telling them to be cautious after unauthorized transmissions went out targeting the captain at the midtown precinct. you can see officers posted at the entrance and some with heavy tactical gear. how this person was able to communicate over several radio frequencies is being investigated. officers first responded to the numerous unauthorized calls around 5:42

a page and requested to speak with the captain of the midtown precinct. a dispatcher tried to contact the captain and minutes later, the innocent page quickly turned into a threat. the person asked over the radio if the captain remembered throwing him in jail and he was going to put a bullet in the captain's head. >> remember how you put me in jail. i'm out and i'm coming to put a bullet in your head. coming for you. >> at this point, investigators aren't sure if the person is using a lost or stolen radio, but coming up on eyewitness news at 6:00, i'll have much more with that exchange from yesterday and what the captain had to say back to that perk. live at the midtown precinct, aj ross. >> thank you very much aj. police are searching for a man who tried to rape a woman in a church. investigators

they say he approached the victim inside the women's restroom at a church in the port richmond section. they say the suspect grabbed that woman by the throat, pushed her down, but she was able to fight him off. a massive manhunt ended in new jersey with a police chase and a grim discovery. state troopers spotted frankland's car on the new jersey turnpike last night after receiving a be on the look out message across the in the east. he refused to pull er chase ensued. he ran off the road and crashed into a barrier. >> he had clearly indicated virtually to a family member, one of his children that he caused harm to their mom, to his wife. >> when troopers approached the car, they found ozwalt with a

parts of duchess county and putnam county in the low 70s. the flash flood wash for north western new jersey through 11:00 p.m. tonight night, also a flood advisory, newly issued, this is hot off the pressure. southern parts of duchess county through 8:00 this evening because this batch has been county and we go to the areas that got effected by the heavy rainfall earlier. we have one downpour near six flags over at jackson move to go the south and east. the good news is they're moving. they're not sitting in one spot like they were yesterday. these storms up here are starting to sit in one spot. south western part of duchess, south eastern alter where there's a flood advisory. expect ponding of

showers and downpours over north western parts of new jersey. so here's your future cast as we head to the overnight hours tonight, you can see -- this future cast isn't going to nail down the location of these downpours, but the general trend is for them to sit in the same spot again as the winds in the upper levels of the atmosphere kind of relax, so there's that possibility it may be getting flooding rains at a couple of locations overnight tonight and the secondary disturbance occur. we dry out wednesday until thursday. it could be a stray shower during the day on tuesday, but wednesday we should be high and dry. accuweather forecast, cloudy and humid. maybe a shower or thunderstorm. we're down to 71. it's a few showers, maybe a heavy storm during the day tomorrow. humid, the high getting up to 80 for tomorrow night.

maryland. rushing waters swept cars down main street and ellicot city and the city reached 2 inches of rain in 2 hours. much of our area is under a flash flood watch. rain covers the area. many of us could see downpours through the night. good evening, everyone, i'm sandra bookman. >> and i'm shirley allicot in for joe torres. police are investigating a destroyed and they were parked a few blocks apart in east new york. mallory hoff has the latest. >>reporter: these fires started just before 3:00 this morning. i want you to look over here. there's 7 scenes that look like this one across the area as you can see. this truck is destroyed and owns and operators have to deal with -- and owners have to deal with the

searching for answers after 7 trucks were destroyed in early morning fires. detectives says the trucks parked in east new york brooklyn were parked 5 blocks away. most -- >> nobody is safe there on the street. park on the street and nobody is safe. >> you're concerned about your own truck? >> yeah. right now, i have three trucks. but i cannot sleep. >> truck owner operators in the area say the fires are an in recent months. >> mine was the first that got burned. these guys, i don't know how long they're going to be doing this, months, longer. >> no injuries reported. >> scared. you sleep in there and you come and get you go out. >> anyone who noted anything suspicious overnight is asked to report it immediately. in the meantime, drivers tell me

new video from hawaii. lava from the killer wave volcano was flowing in the ocean. it's the first time in 3 years the lava from the volcano reached the water. it's one of the world's most active volcanos. lightning on the jersey shore came a little for comfort for one teenager last week. he was recorded the storm over bradley beach when he felt a bolt strike the ground near him. eyewitness news reporter darla miles talked to him about that frightening counter. >> i wanted to get a cool lightning strike over the ocean and i got something closer than i wanted. >>reporter: this is more than what he wanted as he hoped to shoot a picture of a bolt of

county and into south eastern part of duchess county through 7:15. heavier rain developing there and a general flash flood watch through tomorrow night for north western new jersey because we have the really humid air plays in place and storms that develop can definitely be on the heavy side. here's our radar picture right now. and by far the heaviest rain during the past couple of hours have been developing well north and west of new york city. putnam cell moving sell sicks into orange county. there's one cell not too far from jersey city that's going to go to new jersey city and staten island. there was upwards of half a foot of rain earlier today during the pre-dawn hour causing flooding. there's reports of flooding there and upwards and over
