honduras. at least six people were killed in the dominican republic and they're making storm preparations now in jamaica. there's no word on a time line for the findings of a new vatican commission that is studying whether women can be deacons. pope francis appointed the commission made up of six men and six women including priest, nuns and lay women. married men can be deacons and they can preside at weddings, baptisms and funerals. historians point out that women served as deacons in the early ys we know that when police officers go to work every day they're never really sure what they're going to encounter. this story is a perfect example. >> it happened in a small main community called wind ham. we think you'll understand what's going on. >> we got a possible mad cow situation here. all right, guys, i need you to step to the side of the road and put your hands up.

the split-second decision to jump for his life. here's abc's linsey davis. >> reporter: damien leroy is no stranger to extreme sports. this shows the line between thrill seeking and death defying. while paragliding over south florida beaches last month, disaster struck. he starts to spin out of control. his lines get tangled up, and he can't undo them. his only option is to jump more than 150 feet. >> he jumped. he jumped into the mangroves. >> it was just a feeling that just said there's super soft bush right there. you should jump. and so i jumped. and right or wrong, it was the best decision i've ever made. >> reporter: leroy suffered a broken back, femur, pelvis, three broken ribs and a punctured lung and says it's a miracle he's alive.
