the latest for you on the zika virus. in an effort to fight mosquitos, new york city health officials are spraying pesticides over the next several days. they're targeting three boroughs. queens, staten island, and the bronx. meanwhile down in florida, health officials are struggling to contain the zika threat. the number of cases in the miami area now stands at 15. officials are preparing to start aerial spraying in an effort to kill mosquitos around that the continental u.s.'s first known cases of zika transmitted by mosquitos were confirmed last week. scammers have been swarming new york with dubious zika prevention methods. eyewitness news reporter kemberly richardson has the story. >> what do you think this is for? >> looks like pokemon nonsense. >> reporter: not exactly, but officials say buying these colorful stickers, these

later in the week. for the timing of the thunderstorms, it's not your classic late day thunderstorms. i actually think it's going to happen from late morning to midafternoon. let's say early call, 11 a.m., to 3:00 or 4:00. after that it should be fine for any late day or evening plans. around the thunderstorms if we get any sun at all we'll make a run at 90 degrees. clouds may hold us back a little bit. sunday is the better half of the weekend. i'm just hoping it's a few hours where a line goes through and doesn't r whole day. sun, fun, films. all at the beach. the fifth annual long beach international film festival is kicking off today. from now till friday, visitors can catch an international slate of more than 40 films. lauren glassberg takes a look. >> reporter: the sand, the surf, and films. no, this isn't cannes, france but long beach, long island which is also home to an international film festival.

justice years in the making. today a man wrongly convicted of raping a teenager nearly three decades ago is cleared after a dna test exonerated him. first, police search for clues to find a killer. a 30-year-old woman out for her daily jog is murdered in queens. good evening at 6:00. i'm liz cho. bill is off tonight. police right autopsy results. they say karina vetrano was possibly strangled and may have been sexually assaulted. vetrano was last seen jogging just about 24 hours ago. her body was discovered late last night by her father off the jogging path near 161st avenue and 78th street in howard beach. eyewitness news reporter rob nelson is in the neighborhood where a vigil is planned for
