an officer's forearm. it says two officers were assaulted by an inmate who got out of his cell early this morning when his door was open to retrieve his meal tray. a scalpel blade was recovered from that scene. on eyewitness news at 11:00 we will hear from the president of the officers union. police are investigating an attack on the subway as a possible hate crime. investigators say the attacker made anti-gay remarks as he stabbed a man several times on in morningside heights last night around 7:30 at the 110th street and broadway station. the victim was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. police are still looking for his assailant. a major announcement in major league baseball, alex rodriguez will play his final game next friday with the new york yankees, but he isn't saying good-bye to the pin stripes just yet. we have team coverage of the big announcement and the reaction from fans.
