day, i wouldn't be surprised for 10 to 12 degrees forecasting a high of 87 in new york city. for inland new jersey, we should be able to push the upper 80s as well. as we go throughout the second half of the weekend, a little more humidity so a very soupy air mass getting set up for us. so by tomorrow, these could be heavy at times. i'll talk about those details. a high today of 87 in new york with mor in the accuweather seven-day forecast. rob? >> all right, amy. thank you very much. an investigation is under way this morning in queens after a 9-year-old little girl was found dead in her bathroom. we have new information on who police are talking to this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter marcus solis joins us live from richland hill with that sad story. good morning, marcus. >> good morning, rob. some family members are gathered.

get some information. the baby's father is here at the precinct. the girl's father is at the precinct but also the stepmother, his wife, who police have been questioning. we have video from yesterday. this is the girl's father fainting, collapsing in grief after hearing the news. he was at work at the time his daughter's body was discovered. her body was found in a bathtub water in it. a neighbor found the door locked in a shared back room. it was immediately labeled suspicious. meantime, family members are mourning the death of the 9- year-old girl who came from india just a few months ago to live with her father. >> i was shocked, you know?

was going to happen. i still don't believe this is real. >> reporter: they live with his wife and two young grandchildren. police are questioning the woman and as for now, no charges filed. we're live in richmond hills, marcus solis, "eyewitness news." a family is demanding answers in the death of a worker killed by a man accused of stealing a police officer's gun. this was ten days ago. he worked at another store right across the street. he followed the suspect to the deli to warn the workers there that guzman was causing problems in his store. officers later arrived and tried to escort guzman out when they say he grabbed an officer's gun and fired 15

how was he able to take a gun away from police? we're supposed to be very secure. >> why was this perpetrator not handcuffed before he was dragged out of the deli by the police officer, whose gun was snatched? >> a second officer shot guzman. he survived and faces charges, including murder. the nypd has not taken any disciplinary action against the officer whose gun he snatched. police in jersey city have murder that took place outside of a church. they say 18-year-old gentleman walk jackson opened fire on august 9th. leander williams was the target of the shooting. two bystanders, young girls were both wounded. police are asking if you know where he is to call police.

ryan lock can i being rob -- lochte being robbed. another swimmer is telling a much different story. the teammates arrived back home in the u.s. yesterday morning. bentz released his own account saying the four swimmers went to the brazilian gas station where they relieved themselves outside the building. he says lochte pulled down a metal sign for some reason and that is when the confrontation guards began. he said the first security guard held up a badge to me and drew his handgun. then the second guard drew weapon and both yelled at us to sit on a nearby sidewalk. again, i cannot speak to his actions but ryan stood up and began to yell at the guards. ryan and the security guards had a heated verbal exchange but no physical contact was made. bentz went on to say that eventually with the help of another customer who

the child's stepmother, who police are questioning. we'll show you video from yesterday. this is video of the father collapsing in grief after finding out of his daughter's death. he'd been at work in brooklyn at the time the discovery was made and came back to the home. ashley was found in a locked bathroom in a bathtub with no water in the tub. a neighbor trying to use the bathroom found it locked, kicked the door in, and that is when the discovery was made in it suspicious. the medical examiner determined the cause of death. the girl had just moved here a few months ago to live with her father. as we said, family members here is he precinct are trying to find out exactly what is going on. >> i'm watching. i don't see anything, you know? i'm waiting to see what has happened, you know? >> reporter: as of now, no

we have details on the person police are speaking to right now. marcus? >> reporter: rob these are relatives of the girl's father here in support of him. here is here but it is his wife, the child's stepmother that police are questioningp this. is video of the father fainting. he collapsed in grief yesterday after learning about his daughter's death. came home to find out the news that ashdeep core was found in a bathroom in a bathtub. there was no water in the tub and the bathroom had been locked. a neighbor who was trying to use the bathroom eventually kicked in the door and made the discovery. police labeling the death suspicious and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. family members are mourning the death of the 9-year-old who came to live with her father

"eyewitness news" reporter marcus solis joins us live from richmond hills. marcus? >> toni, here at the 102nd precinct, both the child's father and stepmother are here at the precinct. it is the stepmother who is being questioned. father here waiting for some sort of resolution here in support of him as this investigation continues. we can show you video. this was yesterday. this is the child's father collapsing upon hearing the news that his 9-year-old daughter had died. he was at work in brooklyn and returned home to the news. ashdeep core found in a bathtub in a locked bathroom. there was no water in the tub. a bathroom was locked. a neighbor who was trying to

kicked the door in and made the discovery. police determined that this was suspicious and are waiting for the medical examiner to determine the cause of death. the 9-year-old girl had moved here from india three months ago to live with her father. as we head, his relatives are wondering what is going on? >> i'm watching. that's waiting, you know? i don't see anything, you know? i'm waiting to see what, what, what has happened, you know? >> r the autopsy will play a big role here. the medical examiner to conduct an investigation today. again, no charges filed but police are questioning the child's stepmother at the 102nd precinct. marcus solis, channel 7 "eyewitness news." >> all right, marcus. thank you. happening today, the port authority will be performing a full scale emergency exercise at the port newark elizabeth marine terminal.
