day, i wouldn't be surprised for 10 to 12 degrees forecasting a high of 87 in new york city. for inland new jersey, we should be able to push the upper 80s as well. as we go throughout the second half of the weekend, a little more humidity so a very soupy air mass getting set up for us. so by tomorrow, these could be heavy at times. i'll talk about those details. a high today of 87 in new york with mor in the accuweather seven-day forecast. rob? >> all right, amy. thank you very much. an investigation is under way this morning in queens after a 9-year-old little girl was found dead in her bathroom. we have new information on who police are talking to this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter marcus solis joins us live from richland hill with that sad story. good morning, marcus. >> good morning, rob. some family members are gathered.

get some information. the baby's father is here at the precinct. the girl's father is at the precinct but also the stepmother, his wife, who police have been questioning. we have video from yesterday. this is the girl's father fainting, collapsing in grief after hearing the news. he was at work at the time his daughter's body was discovered. her body was found in a bathtub water in it. a neighbor found the door locked in a shared back room. it was immediately labeled suspicious. meantime, family members are mourning the death of the 9- year-old girl who came from india just a few months ago to live with her father. >> i was shocked, you know?

was going to happen. i still don't believe this is real. >> reporter: they live with his wife and two young grandchildren. police are questioning the woman and as for now, no charges filed. we're live in richmond hills, marcus solis, "eyewitness news." a family is demanding answers in the death of a worker killed by a man accused of stealing a police officer's gun. this was ten days ago. he worked at another store right across the street. he followed the suspect to the deli to warn the workers there that guzman was causing problems in his store. officers later arrived and tried to escort guzman out when they say he grabbed an officer's gun and fired 15

how was he able to take a gun away from police? we're supposed to be very secure. >> why was this perpetrator not handcuffed before he was dragged out of the deli by the police officer, whose gun was snatched? >> a second officer shot guzman. he survived and faces charges, including murder. the nypd has not taken any disciplinary action against the officer whose gun he snatched. police in jersey city have murder that took place outside of a church. they say 18-year-old gentleman walk jackson opened fire on august 9th. leander williams was the target of the shooting. two bystanders, young girls were both wounded. police are asking if you know where he is to call police.

ryan lock can i being rob -- lochte being robbed. another swimmer is telling a much different story. the teammates arrived back home in the u.s. yesterday morning. bentz released his own account saying the four swimmers went to the brazilian gas station where they relieved themselves outside the building. he says lochte pulled down a metal sign for some reason and that is when the confrontation guards began. he said the first security guard held up a badge to me and drew his handgun. then the second guard drew weapon and both yelled at us to sit on a nearby sidewalk. again, i cannot speak to his actions but ryan stood up and began to yell at the guards. ryan and the security guards had a heated verbal exchange but no physical contact was made. bentz went on to say that eventually with the help of another customer who

good morning again at 6:10. the zika outbreak in miami is prompting a travel warning from the centers for disease control. new cases that the mosquito- borne virus have popped up in a huge tourist investigation, in addition to downtown miami where some people contracted zika. federal health experts say pregnant women and women looking to get pregnant should not travel to any part of miami- dade county. >> the risk is still low, but the result is catastrophic. so i think you have to put both of those things into the equation. the risk is low but the outcome is so horrific that you really

temperatures up by 10, 12 degrees by the afternoon. we have a good deal of sunshine and a mix of sun and clouds coming and going. the humidity creeps in making the air mass soupy. by the time the front gets here, we have the late thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and evening. they are possibly heavy at times and also gusty winds with them. a refreshing breeze follows with low humidity on monday and temperatures gusting in the low 80s. heat for a bit. no threat of showers. we roll through the futurecast just fine. the clouds do come and go. the humidity indicated here that it will be around through the afternoon. so we can't go away with calling it not humid? more of a muggy feel. tomorrow spotty shower early and then the front widening out to the west. that scoots through after 5:00. this particular computer model

close out the weekend. then maybe an early morning shower before it's all out of here. we look forward to beautiful conditions through monday and tuesday and even wednesday. catskills, jersey shore, hamptons all dry today. it's hot at the jersey shore at 87. then the catskills and jersey shore. the hamptons steers clear of it until late monday night or late on sunday night maybe 11:00, 12:00. so you are good there. 87 for the high today. 60s for the surb accuweather seven- day forecast. it looks like things will remain very wet late tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours. so as you are coming back from the catskills, jersey shore, hamptons, poconos, wherever you are this weekend, know that sunday night travel could be affected by the showers and storms coming in. again, drenching downpour can't be ruled out. sometimes that will cause localized flooding. look at that.

the child's stepmother, who police are questioning. we'll show you video from yesterday. this is video of the father collapsing in grief after finding out of his daughter's death. he'd been at work in brooklyn at the time the discovery was made and came back to the home. ashley was found in a locked bathroom in a bathtub with no water in the tub. a neighbor trying to use the bathroom found it locked, kicked the door in, and that is when the discovery was made in it suspicious. the medical examiner determined the cause of death. the girl had just moved here a few months ago to live with her father. as we said, family members here is he precinct are trying to find out exactly what is going on. >> i'm watching. i don't see anything, you know? i'm waiting to see what has happened, you know? >> reporter: as of now, no

the child's stepmother. she's been married to the girl's father for about two years. we're live in richmond hills, marcus solis, channel 7 "eyewitness news." a family in newark is looking for answers as a memorial continues to grow for a 24-year-old woman who was hit and killed during a police chase. investigators say newark police were chasing the man when he jumped the curb killing year-old china willis. witnesses say he started to walk away when police caught up to him and arrested him. they found a large amount of drugs in his car. >> i blame the cops for chasing him. whatever he did, it wasn't that serious. >> were the drugs worth taking her life? we will never get her back. >> police haven't said why they were chasing gunther or if it was related to the crime with the car.

running a red light. one bus t-boned the other nearly flipping it over and almost cutting it in half. 70-year-old joseph barcliff was driving the bus with no passengers on board was killed. a female passenger on the other bus also died and another in critical condition. five others are in serious condition. a retired navy s.e.a.l. the raid that killed osama bin laden will have to pay the government. that is the settlement. the feds say he actually violated nondisclosure agreements and failed to get the book first cleared by the defense department. he now has to hand over all profits and all royalties. president obama will head down to baton rouge next week. the white house says the president is eager to get a firsthand look at the

refreshing breeze behind this front. we know that. it will be low humidity and beautiful temperatures coming in. i mean, low 80s. right now, no storms for today so the current accuweather radar and satellite combination doesn't show much. we know the humidity is increasing so there will be more moisture in the atmosphere. by sunday afternoon, look how cloudy wye start off. some -- cloudy we start off. this front right here is really stretching from syracuse all the way down from williamsport. as ico not only does it already have moisture with it, but it will run into a very moist atmosphere. i think we'll still have enough sunlight and heat to create heavy showers and thunderstorms. this particular computer model gives us just thundershowers coming through not as big of a deal. this is definitely one for us to watch. catskills, jersey shores and hampton. it's hot at the jersey shore.

we have details on the person police are speaking to right now. marcus? >> reporter: rob these are relatives of the girl's father here in support of him. here is here but it is his wife, the child's stepmother that police are questioningp this. is video of the father fainting. he collapsed in grief yesterday after learning about his daughter's death. came home to find out the news that ashdeep core was found in a bathroom in a bathtub. there was no water in the tub and the bathroom had been locked. a neighbor who was trying to use the bathroom eventually kicked in the door and made the discovery. police labeling the death suspicious and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. family members are mourning the death of the 9-year-old who came to live with her father

"eyewitness news" reporter marcus solis joins us live from richmond hills. marcus? >> toni, here at the 102nd precinct, both the child's father and stepmother are here at the precinct. it is the stepmother who is being questioned. father here waiting for some sort of resolution here in support of him as this investigation continues. we can show you video. this was yesterday. this is the child's father collapsing upon hearing the news that his 9-year-old daughter had died. he was at work in brooklyn and returned home to the news. ashdeep core found in a bathtub in a locked bathroom. there was no water in the tub. a bathroom was locked. a neighbor who was trying to

simulated explosions, one on land and one in the water. remembers of the port authority police department, the nypd, fdny, and other agencies will participate in the three-hour exercise. again, all of this is just a drill. all of this is coming amid critiskism of how the port authority handled the big scare. after the incident, the agency released a statement saying it is committed to providing fast and appropriate guidance during the family in newark looking for answers as a memorial continues to grow for a 24-year-old woman who was hit and killed during a police chase. investigators say newark police were chasing a suspect driving a dodge charger when it spun off the road. they say the driver, 45-year- old ken gunther jumped the curb, killing 24-year-old china willis. witnesses say gunther started to walk away, but police caught up with him and arrested him. they also found a large amount of drugs in his car, according
