just like the experts said over the weekend. we will see if that can happen again. live from wach fox studios, this is 10. we begin tonight with new developments in the shooting at columbiana mall. they have not been able to find any shell casings after that ordeal. everything played out just before 7 pm and two men's -- two men got into a fight and pulled out guns and starting -- started shooting. >> cares what we do know tonight. authorities found these airsoft guns in the area around the mall. they found the guns stashed in a book bag. they result -- they resemble an assault weapon and a handgun. it is not clear if the items

>> tonight, melanie barden talk to a person trapped inside. >> we were there about 30 minutes, but in that situation, it feels like forever.>> reporter: matt jones is remembering the 30 minutes he was barricaded in the back of his store on saturday night. he works at gnc and had never been involved in anything like it. >> we heard some really loud noises and were not sure where it was coming from. >> reporter: jones said he and his coworkers knew their best bet was to hide. >> we saw people running and then we heard more loud banging. tables were being knocked over. we just jumped into action. >> reporter: that is one the employees barricaded the door and got as many people inside as possible.>> we just made sure that nobody could come in and we did not allow anybody to go out. >> reporter: according to the -- according to jones, they did

he is happy with how the mall has handled the situation and hopes new plans will be put in place in case something like this ever happens again.>> that is melanie barden reporting. here is the timeline on how we got here. at 7 pm, a fistfight broke out between a group of men at columbiana mall. two of those men involved began shooting. the police responded to the incident and surrounded the area. the hardest and exit was blocked off. two hours later, officers were still helping people and injuring everyone's safety. no one was injured. cheap the police said this was an isolated video and the surveillance video does not show much material evidence. the police have a description of the suspects, but no arrests have been made. a camden police officer has been arrested after he was seen watching pornography and fondling himself. this officer was charged friday

someone saw them parked in his cruiser at camden public park. they saw him touching himself while watching a video on his personal cell phone. if convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison. a palin woman is in jail tonight after authorities say she was involved in a crash that killed a newborn baby. she is charged after the february 13 wreck. mills crossed the center lane and hit a pickup truck head-on. a husband and wife expecting a child were in the truck there because of the crash, the woman went into early labor and the child was delivered at a nearby hospital and put on life support. authorities say that the baby died two days later. mills is in the lexington county jail tonight. a driver is in the hospital after their car flipped on fuji street this afternoon. it is causing major traffic delays. right now, we do not know the

really work? wach fox tara pettit. she dug into the numbers and want to see if we will be spot in -- spot on this week. >> reporter: several factors are studied to bring the figures that we see updated every day during an election. how often are the polls wrong? i dug into the question today to find out the accuracy of polling. right now the polls show that hillary clinton has a 20 point edge over bernie sanders in south carolina. that could all change come saturday according to usc political science professor bob: dick.>> if we see two sides breaking the polls, we will see a difference on saturday. they've -- >> reporter: the look of multiple demographic's, including age, race sex and religion.

can be some of the variables that can calls polls to get things wrong. one instance of polls being far off base happened during the 2008 primary season. one week before the election, all of the polls showed barack obama would when new hampshire coming off of a victory in iowa. but the undecided vote through everyone for a loop giving clinton they went.>> on saturday, about 55% of the vote will be african-american. in that community, clinton will be 70% of the vote.>> reporter: for bernie sanders, what happens with the youth vote? bernie sanders is receiving a large portion of the vote from the younger crowd.>> reporter: there would have to be a major event this week for the odds to go and bernie sanders favor. just like in 2008, you cannot always trust the polls.

making national headlines tonight, family members of the sandy hook shooting victims are filing a lawsuit against remington. and man fired more than 100 shots within ar 15 automatic rifle and connecticut. an attorney representing the families of nine families and a teacher, that case could make history if it goes to trial. the 2005 federal law grants gun manufacturers immunity from criminal misuse of their products. there is an exception called negligent entrustment. also tonight, the man who opened fire in kalamazoo michigan has admitted to that crime.>> six people were killed and two others injured.

is in court.>> reporter: 45- year-old jason dalton appear before a judge on monday, two days after a shooting spree in kalamazoo, michigan.>> you understand the charges being made against you? map and a maximum sentence as stated?>> reporter: prosecutors are charging dalton with six counts of murder, two counts of assault with intent to commit murder and eight firearm related cows. dalton opened fire at three locations over the course of seven hours on saturday night, picking up uber fares in between shootings. a total of eight people were shot, six of them kill. >> i said you are not the shooter, are you? and he said, no. and i said, are you sure? and he said, no. i am just tired. i've been writing for seven hours.>> reporter: the first shooting was at an apartment

several times. later, he's -- a shot and killed a father and son at an auto dealership. a third location was in front of a cracker barrel. the only person who survived was a 14-year-old. condolences came from barack obama as he addressed the shooting in a governors conference.>> on saturday, another group of families was -- had their lives shattered by gun violence.>> uber had received a complaint on saturday night about dalton's driving. they have referred questions to law enforcement. dalton cleared a background check and was approved to be a

the second one will have the most impact -- intense impact with stronger storms as we head into wednesday. that is when we could see the chance of maybe some severe weather. we cannot rule out some damaging winds and tornadoes with this too. wednesday is what we are keeping a watchful eye on with all of this energy that has to pass through the region. right now, 50s and 60s. we will see the numbers falling into the low 50s.future wach, as far as the weather goes, as we get into that wedge pattern, when the cold air gets trapped on the backside of appalachians, we see temperatures well below the average. the models have a hard time addressing the. the models are aggressive with tomorrow's temperatures. we see the rain off and on but i do not see us moving from 53 degrees throughout the day. not making it to the 60s. jumping institute -- jumping into wednesday, every go with the strongest part of the storm to run through the area.

tonight, charleston pastor is challenging tim scott for his senate seat in november. pastor thomas a dixon announced his decision today. he is a community activist and a democrat. scott is a republican and has served since 2000 served since 2013. dixon says he is running because he wants to represent people who feel they are overlooked by current elected officials.>> a man who many of you know is a tireless advocate against violence, against crime, and against the things that go along with it. a man who will fight for anyone who has been unfairly treated.>> scott was elected to the senate in 2014. he is the first african- american to win a statewide race since the reconstruction era this year. he is on the ballot again

sky watch weather with chief meteorologist henry rothenberg, and sports with corey miller. this is wach fox news at 10. the rates of hpv infection has drop since the cdc recommended a vaccine. the study looked at four types of the virus. two of which are responsible for 66% of cervical cancer in the united states. in six years, researchers solve the rate dropped from 11.5% to 4.3% for women between the ages of 20 and 24, that rate fell from 18.5% to 12.1%. also tonight, workplace wellness programs have become a common way for employers to make for healthier employees. meaning of these initiatives involve giving away something that we all love, money. >>'s sounds good to me. but is there a smarter way to go about this? andrew spencer has more in

reporter: employers want healthier employees. workplace wellness programs are hot. according to the studies in internal medicine, more than 80% of big companies are offering some sort of financial incentive to get workers to enter -- participate. looking at how they can be more effective, they gave 300 people a 7000 step goal. the study participants were broken into groups. one got $1.40 for each day they hit the 7000 step goal. the second groups participants were entered into a daily lottery. they could only win if they met the goal the day before. the third received $42 up front each month with the caveat the participants lost $1.40 for each day they failed to meet -- made that 7000 step goal. what did researchers find? the group that was threatened with losing money exercise more. it is all about how the reward is framed adding that our

fairfield county. were starting to get closer to the edge of northern richland and northern lexington counties. you can see around chapin and over toward jenkinsville, heavier showers. chapin starting to quiet down. we have thunder off to our west but that has moved out. up towards winnsboro, we're seeing some light rainfall in the ridgeway area and down toward blythewood as well. all of this moisture is trailing back towards the gulf. acrossed the gulf coast states are's -- area is where we have the low pressure. the low-pressure centers bring that up through the golf -- golf. it is keeping us on this call pattern that were going to be in on the backside of the appellations. it is known as a wedge pattern. the second one keeps more moisture in and helps push this wedge pattern out of here and gives us the chance of stronger

60 degrees in columbia. 61 in lexington. it is 59 in camden. 54 in newberry. 50s and 60s. the model runs tonight. well temperatures fall to around 58, was showers off and on and fall, we will be dealing with not a lot of movement in the numbers. future wach in this model is a little too aggressive in pumping these numbers up. i do not think that we will see a lot of movement. we will see the off and on showers with some fog. wednesday, 7 am, we have a strong storm moving through i 20 and aiken county. it is not keeping that line together as we get through the midday hours. it is push the timing up of the chance of any stronger storms as we head into wednesday. it is something we will have to keep a watchful eye on. the threat is there between 11 am to 2 pm to see stronger storms in the area. the next three days, we go from 63 to 65 and then dry and 50.
