after 4 this morning. the victim is in sentara norfolk general hospital with life-threatening injuries. we're still working to find out if the person shot is an employee, vistor, or guest at the hotel. new information about a death investigation in norfolk. a 55-year-old man is dead after he was found unconscious in a parking lot. around 2:45 wednesday morning police went to a parking lot behind walmart on north military highway where a man wasn't breathing. we're told the man is richard winters of kempsville road. detectives are still working to figure out what happened to winters. if you have any information, call the crime line. new at midday -- the mathews county sheriff's office is investigating a suspicious death. we just learned a 41-year-old gloucester woman's body was found in a wooded area sunday. the woman's husband reported her missing early sunday afternoon. she was found just before 8:30 that evening on north river road. the mathews county sheriff's office

in here, and quickly ran out before getting money. again -- this is the same store where police say someone robbed and shot a clerk early wednesday morning. now -- before last night's attempted robbery here -- police were working on two others -- all within about an hour. those were both in ghent -- redgate ave & orapax - which is west ghent - and then colonial ave & princess anne. police say just before 9 an armed robber demanded money, got cash, and ran off before police got there. police say the same thing happened 25 mins later at that colonial ave location -- just a couple miles away. officers haven't said if the three crimes are connected. as for bristow -- the suspect in the wednesday morning robbery and shooting

help coal mining workers who lost their jobs. the u.s. department of labor says the grant for the virginia community system will help about 210 workers in southwestern virginia who were laid off from bristol-based alpha natural resources. they'll receive career services and training to prepare them for positions in manufacturing, tourism, and outdoor recreation industries. four virginia counties have been issued as primary disaster designations agriculture after flooding last fall. wight, patrick, southampton, and surry counties. it's been determined those counties' farms lost enough money, because of the weather, for a designation to be made. farmers in eligibile counties have 8 months to apply for emergency loans. now to the news everyone wants to hear. no one matched last night's powerball numbers. so the jackpot rises to an estimated 700- million-dollars. that's the largest jackpot in u-s history.

macy's store closings we first told you about yesterday. we now know more than 43-hundred people will get the pink slip nationwide... 10 on your side learned, three stores in hampton roads will close. they are the military circle store in norfolk, the chesapeake square store in chesapeake, and the peninsula town center store in hampton. this will impact about 275 local workers. in all, 40 stores nationwide will close. store executives say about half of the workers will move into other positions. the store says it had disappointing sales in 2015. we have a 10 time saver traffic alert to tell you about this midday. expect some lane restrictions at the saint paul's boulevard and brambleton avenue intersection for utility work. drivers are encouraged to use boush and church street as alternate routes. norfolk police will help with traffic control during rush hour.

north korea despite its influence waning over its neighbor since kim jong-un came to power in 2012. here's an interesting and bizarre story for you out of montana. a food bank is making the most of meat many would pass on, by using roadkill to help provide 15-hundred meals a year to the hungry. the foodbank is accepting "vehicle tenderized meat" -- it's something it's already taken from local police and game wardens since the 1980's. there's a butchering room set-up to make the clean-up process easy. some might turn their nose up at eating road kill, but food bank organizers say the meat is being put to good use. "more i see a fascination with it. we took some this year and we turned it into pepper sticks. but they were fantastic and it was a good use of the meat." while many food banks around montana have donation programs for hunters, this north valley food bank is the only
