your head when you do something like that? i don't know i can't understand it. 10 on your side's liz palka checks in on the victim. ----------------- and - president obama talks gun control at town hall in virginia. we'll go over his policies and tell you who did not show up. first we start with breaking news in virgina beach. a 10 on your side viewer just sent us this video of a duplex fire on skyes avenue, in the atlantic park neighborhood. you can see the fire appears to be near the garage. firefighters tell us the fire spread to duplexes and two cars. firefighters also say five people are displaced, including two children. a cat died in the fire. three dogs made it out okay. crews got the fire under control, now they will try to determine the cause. new tonight, a fire tore through an apartment building, leaving six people, including two children, to find a new place to stay tonight. dispatchers it happened on garden drive around just before seven tonight. we're working to learn what caused the fire and if anyone got hurt.

athlete is fighting for her life tonight. amber brown was found unresponsive in her n-s-u dorm room on new years day. now, the school has come together to support her family during these tough times. 10 on your side's liz kilmer spoke with loved ones today - liz, how is amber doing? tom, nicole, family members want to keep amber's current condition private, but we're told the basketball player and honor student is in the i-c-u with a long road to recovery. we talked to her sister, a friend, and coach today - they tell 10 on your side - they're having faith in a miracle. c2 coach clark 16:50:18 "she always has a bright smile on her face, she brings a lot of energy to the team." a team now without a star player - as 20-year- old amber brown, a forward on the norfolk state university basketball team - is off the court, fighting a different battle. c1 ebony 01:01:49 "we're just praying and hoping for the best right now." ebony brown is amber's older sister, now, hoping

breaking news, federal investigators arrested two people in two states on terrorism-related charges. in calfornia, police in sacramento arrested a man they say was traveling to syria. investigators say the man lied to them about it. in texas, police arrested another person in houston. lawmakers say these arrests may have prevented a terror-related event. new tonight, iran is close to complying with a controversial nuclear deal with the u-s. according to secretary of state john kerry, the country is just "days away" from satisfying their end of the deal. if iran holds up their end, the u-s and western nations would have to immediately suspend many sanctions on the country. secretary kerry says the country shipped out most of its enriched uranium last month. that dramatically sets back its nuclear program. a federal three judge panel picked a new congressional map for virginia. it could be in place for this year's election. here's a look at the 3rd district, represented by democrat bobby

guardrail before his rig went into the bay. crews threw him a life ring until boats could rescue him. he suffered a broken arm, cuts and hypothermia. an outcome that doesn't happen often. 10 on your side's liz palka is live there now. and liz, this gas station has been targeted before? nicole and tom- it was robbed less than a week ago. police are now investigating how and if the incidents are related. i can tell you both times the suspect struck during the day and had a knife. except this time - someone was hurt. c5 1:35 - there was cops on every street that i turned. they were just everywhere. the helicopter was all over the place. virginia beach police outside this diamond springs road citgo. a scene melissa reid has witnessed twice now in store herself. c5 4:26 - when you just run into the store get a pack a cigarettes a soda or whatever you don't think my life could be in jeopardy. it's not something that crosses your mind. police responded to a call for a stabbing at the citgo at about 12:20 thursday afternoon. they found an employee who was cut on the arm...but is expected to be ok. reid said she saw

the day... c5 2:05 - when i went in there this morning, she was the only one working there by herself. police said the knife wielding suspect attempted to rob the place...but didn't get any cash. he then ran toward the driftwood apartments located behind the gas station. bayside elementary sent out an alert to parents according to this resident... c11 7:30 - the schools just basically called to let us know that they were locking the school down because of the situation. after a robbery and an attempted robbery in one week - residents said measures need to be taken to stop these suspects. reid is concerned about her friends who work at the citgo. c5 3:34 - she's up here a single female working what are you going to do when you got a man coming at you with a gun or a knife? that's why you....i mean, what goes and i did reach out to citgo employees. i was told they couldn't comment.

for the suspect. again, they said he had run in that direction behind the gas station toward the driftwood apartments. call police if you know more. liz palka, 10 on your side. norfolk police are looking for a man they think robbed and shot a clerk at a 7- eleven on chesapeake boulevard. officers think 38-year-old kevin bristow is in this video -- and that he demanded money from two employees before shooting one of them wednesday morning. we're told the clerk is out of the hospital. it's the same 7-eleven where police say someone less than an hour before that -- someone also robbed 7-elevens on redgate and colonial avenues. officers have not said if any of the cases are connected. 10 on your side contacted
