shootings across hampton roads. first in newport news, a gunman is still on the loose. police tell us: they found a 38-year-old man shot several times in the legs and once in the head on forest lake court. investigators believe the victim and another man got into a fight that turned physical over a hoverboard. paramedics took the man ot the hospital. we're working to learn how the victim is doing. another shooting tonight is breaking news in portsmouth. police tell us a man walked into vickie's convenience store on effingham street for help. an employee called 9-1-1. paramedics took the man to the hospital with serious injuries. officers tell us someone shot him in the upper body. investigators are working to find out who shot the man and where. and two shootings are breaking news in norfolk. dispatchers tell us-- two people walked into sentara norfolk general hospital tonight with gunshot wounds. we're working to learn more information including who shot them-- and where. and earlier tonight police in chesapeake investigated a shooting

road. our photographer found a scene nearby on shady lane the victim is recovering tonight in the hospital. officers tell us he has non-life threatening injuries. we're working to learn who shot the victim and the motive behind it. call the crime line if you have information in any of these shootings. now to developing news out of hampton - where a long-serving police officer has landed on the other side of the law. 51-year-old michael anderson is behind bars tonight, for an alleged crime that happened decades ago. the former corporal is accused of sexually assaulting a minor - over thirty years ago. 10 on your side's liz kilmer spoke with investigators, and has more on the allegations. liz? tom and nicole - anderson is charged with five counts of forcible sodomy. investigators say he sexually assaulted a minor he knew, multiple times in york county, back in 1982. those allegations were brought to police yesterday. today, anderson was arrested, and resigned. from cop - to accused criminal. 51-year-old

former hampton police corporal, is behind bars tonight - accused of sexually assaulting a minor. c1 07:28:58 "this whole investigation took less than 24 hours, to put this man in jail, so does it matter that he's a police officer? absolutely not. justice - justice is for everybody." ... and no matter how much time has gone by... arrested on friday ... anderson is charged with five counts of forcible sodomy - for attacks that allegedly happened in 1982. police say the veteran cop sexually assaulted a victim he knew multiple times in york county. on thursday - roughly 34 years later - hampton police received the report - and began working with the york- poquoson sheriff's office. ivey 27:09 "a lot of people want to know why's it take somebody 30 years to report.. well that's not uncommon either. we can't put ourselves in the minds of the victims, these victims have been traumatized, it takes years for them to come forward sometimes." anderson was 18 at the

attacks. he joined the hampton police division later, in 1990. lt. dennis ivey, with the york-poquoson sheriff's office says there is no indication anderson broke the law while in law enforcement. victims have come forward. anderson's poquoson home friday night. no one came to the door. c1 07:27:36 "everyone is innocent until proven guilty, this man will get victim... we want people to realize that we're proud of the victims when they come forward. no matter how long it takes." and because these are felony charges - there is no statute of limitations in the state of virginia. anderson is in the peninsula regional jail - held without bond. i reached out to hampton police today they had no further comment. i also reached out to hampton city mayor george wallace -he also had no comment. live in the studio, liz kilmer, 10 on your side. it was a messy commute for many heading home this evening. chopper 10 was above a deadly seven vehicle crash on tidewater drive near widgeon road in norfolk.

the tractor-trailer driver died. several other people had minor injuries. investigators say the rig was heading southbound on tidewater-- and crossed the median into oncoming traffic, in the northbound lanes. that caused a chain reaction. the road is back open tonight. now this10 time saver traffic alert involving a bridge-tunnel. vdot says crews started scheduled emergency road work eastbound 64 at the hampton roads bridge-tunnel. one lane is closed tonight until tomorrow at 10 in the morning. you can use 6-64 southbound to the monitor-merrimac memorial bridge- tunnel as an alternative route. switching gears now to the weather, it was rainy earlier today, but will it last? chief meteorologist don slater is in the super doppler 10 weather center with a peek at your weekend forecast. a chance of rain before 9pm, then areas of drizzle after midnight. cloudy, with a low around 45.

developing news tonight into what federal prosecutors are calling it a "scheme to defraud the citizens of norfolk." treasurer anthony burfoot was indicted on eight charges for corruption. this dates back to events in 2005, and we've followed it since it broke. 10 on your side's liz palka picks up the story from our newsroom. liz? tom and nicole - if convicted - burfoot could face anywhere from five to twenty years in prison. his attorney saying today - the city official is innocent and they are prepared for this fight. in the meantime, burfoot told us he will be back at work on monday. c10 2:16 - will you be

sir. so you're not stepping down or anything like that? absolutely not. :20 anthony burfoot. he has served as a public official for 14 years. now facing federal public corruption and perjury charges. the former vice mayor's attorney andrew sacks stood with him after his first court appearance friday afternoon. c10 1:35 - this is a false accusation. it appears that are not true. made up false accusations. :46 councilman andy protogyrou has known burfoot for years. c15 11:55 - everybody had heard rumors on the issue and people were praying that it wouldn't happen just on the indidvudal basis of a person that we have known and has been a colleague of ours. the indictment says the charges stem from events from 2005 to february 2011. during that time - it says burfoot received almost half a million dollars in kickbacks. cash, meals, travel, car payments, home renovations - in exchange for votes in the city. the indictment shining a light on burfoot's relationship with

construction. one example: a deal to build a six story midtown officetower. the feds say burfoot performed officials acts to benefit the company, including voting in favor of the project and giving tivest the land cheap. the indictment says burfoot got 50- thousand dollars in cash from tivest's ceo in return. protogyrou was one of three council members to vote no at the time... c15 10:47 15 - it's a little bit of anger in the sense that the issues should have been fleshed out with more discussion honest talk years ago when this issue first came before council c10 3:45 - the public record will show that any votes he made or anything he did as a public official he did because it was best for the city. it has nothing to do with the fact that it was tivest. :54 burfoot was released today on his own recognizance. he'll be arraigned on january 20th. sacks says from there a trial date will be set. and it will most

i'm liz palka, 10 on your side. here's more background on the company at the center of the burfoot indictment. tivest was a residential and commercial development company headquartered in virginia beach. the indictment says burfoot became a silent partner ten years ago, when he was a city councilman. that put him in partnership with tivest president, dwight etheridge. etheridge was found guilty in 2013, on federal charges related to bank fraud in the collapse of the bank of the commonwealth. once the bank began to collapse, tivest went down with it in late 20-10. tivest defaulted on loans, laid off its employees, and dwight etheridge declared personal bankruptcy. he is now serving a four-year prison sentence. you can read the entire federal indictment against burfoot on wavy dot com. you'll also find our continuing coverage and reaction from local leaders. new tonight, police in portsmouth tell us the suspect involved in a shooting on christmas eve has turned himself in. investigators wanted kennyell gatling for the shooting on randolph street last

developing news from wall street, and a reason not to look at your 401k tonight. no doubt investors are saying tgif. when it was over. the dow lost another 167 points, finishing the worst start to any year for stocks, and the worst week since 2011. once again, traders were rattled by a slowdown in china's economy, and plunging oil prices. new tonight-- an update to a leaning building in norfolk. the city tell us: the owner of the savoy apartment building in downtown is making repairs. last year, norfolk took legal action for the developer to fix building code violations. so far, crews have made temporary repairs to the roof-- and pumped water out of the basement. a city spokeswoman told 10 on your side: the property is up for sale and there

buyers. the owner is scheduled to be back in court next month for another update on the building's progress. tonight, a follow up to a burned out motel in norfolk, that many say is an eye sore. 10 on your side learned the city told the owner of ocean view's m-star hotel to tear down the building. if he doesn't have a demoltion plan by january 20th-- the city will do it. the hotel on shore drive burned in august-- and has sat there since. the owner told the city he'll come up with a plan next week. a virginia beach judge ruled: two women who plan to divorce -- are both considered legal parents of a child born during their marriage. karen and lauren poole got married in maryland, in 20-13. karen became pregnant through a sperm donor and gave birth in the summer of 20-14. the couple separated the next year. judge steve frucci said it was clear from the beginning that lauren was intended to be a legal parent. c0002 - what i already knew and what i already felt, how i

it's called "anaplastic large cell lymphoma". that turned out to be the cause of raylene hollrah's second battle with the disease. now she spends her time educating others, including her daughter. who would have thought when they broke camp in richmond this summer, that on january 10th the washington redskins would be the nfc east champions and be hosting a playoff game? not me--but for only the 3rd time in 18 years--redskins fans will be able to watch their favorite team play at fed field, against the green bay packers in the final game of wildcard weekend. the redskins finished the season with four straight wins, but have not been able to beat a team with a winning record. in the

redskins went 7 and 3, the packers 4 and 6. quarterback kirk cousins is the nfl's second-rated passer and has the league's 5th best power rating. he threw 10 passes in the redskins playoff loss to seattle three years ago, so what does he remember from that experience?
