island, which is in the middle of the persian gulf. according to a u-s senior defense official - the boats were enroute to kuwait from bahrain. one of the boats may have had some type of mechanical issue causing them to run aground. that's when the 10 sailors were picked up by iran. this comes less than a week after we learned an iranian military vessel fired near a locally based aircraft carrier. you're looking at the video of the incident right now. it apparently happened the day after christmas in the strait of hormuz. the uss hary s truman was nearby. in that video you can see five small boats - which are iranian boats according to the navy. flashes on the screen are rockets. that's a situation we

sailoe". nearly 300 sailors are on the missile destroyer. we're just a few hours away from president obama's final state of the union address to congress. the white house has promised tonight's speech will be different. in his final year in office -- it's likely the president will not spend a lot of time on new policy initiatives -- instead -- focusing on not just the year ahead -- but well beyond his presidency. it's expected obama will use tonight's speech to defend his recently announced executive action on gun control. the president will also likley look back on his administration's victorys over the past year -- including same-sex marriage -- and job increases. this year -- president obama will be joined by a new speaker of the house. paul ryan -- who recently replaced john boehner. earlier today ryan talked about what he's looking forward to hearing from the president tonight. one thing he hopes to hear are details about a plan to defeat isis. s/ speaker paul ryan/ (r) wisconsin :08 "we've

just into the newsroom - virginia beach police are looking for a man they say exposed himself to a child inside a book store. this video is from the barnes and nobles on virginia beach boulevard. police say friday night, the man in the video walked up to and flashed thee child. the suspect is described as 25 to 40 years old. police tell us a similar incident happened at the dollar tree on independence boulevard saturday afternoon. we're told a man with a similar discription exposed himself to two children. take anoother look at the video here. police say do think the same person is responsible. if you know anything about the incidents

mexico's attorney general says the actor's meeting with guzman was essential to the investigation because it gave away guzman's location in october when authorities were tailing the kingpin's lawyer. but u-s authorities say penn played no role, not even inadvertently, in the raid friday. a mexican official tells nbc news guzman's being held in isolation at the same maximum security prison where he escaped from six months ago.
