at least one person hit it big in virginia beach. someone bought a winning one-million- dollar ticket at the 7-eleven on lynnhaven parkway. statewide more than 700-thousand people won a little extra cash. across the commonwealth, a total of 2 - one-million-dollar tickets were sold. four 100-thousand dollar ticket winners... and 20 tickets won 50-thousand dollars. before those people became lottery winners... powerball host sam arlen had to announce those winning numbers... one of the winning powerball tickets was sold at the 7-eleven store in chino hills, california. the store's owner says he feels blessed and happy for the winner. people went to the store a started celebrating and chanting "chino hills." the store will have a nice paycheck -- one- million dollars for selling the winning excited... and i was very excited for whoever won that lottery ticket."

new information this midday about a shooting we told you about on wavy news 10 today. a man is still in the hospital after being shot several times last night in hampton. we're told his injuries are non-life threatening. the shooting happened on martha lee drive. in portsmouth - a woman is in the hospital fighting for her life after someone broke into her home and shot her. police say the shooting happened last night on queen street. that's near london boulevard and martin luther king freeway. it happened around 8-30 last night. investigators say a bullet hit her in the torso. paramedics rushed the

with serious injuries, but overnight police listed her in critical condition. detectives have not said if the suspects took anything from the home officers want any witnesses to come forward if they know anything. police say two minutes after the first shooting, someone fired shots into another home on the same street. people were inside the home at the time, but no one was hurt. officers have not said if the two shootings are related. police are also investigating a shooting that hurt a teenager in newport news. that happened near the intersection of 18th street and ivy avenue. investigators say someone shot the 17- year-old in the back. paramedics took him to the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries. a feud between elected leaders in portsmouth has grown. sheriff bill watson took out a felony eluding warrant against mayor kenny wright, after the mayor refused to stop for the sheriff. the mayor turned himself in yesterday. here is his mug shot. as we told you yesterday morning, it all stems from an expired inspection

on the mayor's car. this latest incident began after the city council meeting tuesday night. the mayor's lawyer watched the news coverage the mayor up. new surveillance video is released this midday -- for two unsolved robberies in newport news. police want you to take a close look at the video. the robberies took place at quick pick grocery store on jeffereson avenue last april. that's when at the worker demanding money. the second unsolved robbery happened at cbs on warwick boulevard. the suspect shot once into the ceiling. if you have information on either of these robberies, call the crime line. no one was hurt in a late-night house fire. it happened around 10:30 last night on st. louis avenue. that's off lafayette boulevard. we got this incredible video from a 10 on your side viewer who was next door to the home. investigators say there was signficant fire damage in the attic and the walls. the red cross is helping

another place to stay this morning. virginia beach police need your help finding a man who tried to steal a generator. take a close look at this picture. officers say the man put a generator in a shopping cart at the walmart on lynnhaven parkway. he made it past all areas he'd pay for it - but ran away when he was confronted. if you have any information call police. c-s-x railroad's chief executive doesn't think railroad mergers -- like the one canadian pacific has proposed with norfolk southern -- should happen. michael ward says he doesn't think railroad mergers make much sense because they don't offer significant benefits and federal regulators might not approve them. ward says major railroads already have plenty of room to improve and expand capacity without a merger. so far, norfolk southern has rejected all of canadian pacific's offers, but the back-and-forth may evolve into a proxy fight because canadian pacific wants

we're hearing u-s sailors this midday who had been detained in iran. we told you yesterday morning as breaking news, the country released all 10 sailors. the navy says the group was on two riverine boats that strayed into iran's waters. an iranian television channel showed video of the american sailors apologizing for intruding. s/ unidentified american said to be us sailors' for our mistake." s/ unidentified american said to be us sailors' commander :06 "iranian behavior was fantastic while we were here. we thank you very much for your hospitality and your assistance." a u-s military official called the video pure propaganda. the u-s central command is investigating and said the video appears to be authentic, but it could not "speak to the conditions of the situation or what the crew was experiencing at the time," of the video. a tragic accident in central pennsylvania earlier this week. a 12-year-old girl accidentally killed by a state constable...

had served eviction papers to the girl's dad, donald meyer. his 12-year-old daughter, ciara stood behind him - as her dad pointed a loaded rifle at the constable's chest. the officer shot back. the bullet went through the arm of meyer and his ciara in the chest. the officer hasn't charged after the shooting. ron rohde/uncle says: "i just feel so sorry for this constable. none of us in our family have any hard feelings towards him. actually we feel sorry for him. he's got to live with this, the poor man, and he had no idea what he was walking into." donald meyer has been charged with simple assault, aggravated assault. reckless endangerment and terroristic threats. police say an ohio man pulls a knife on a bus driver after the driver told him his bus pass was invalid... the incident all caught on a surveillance video... a man identified as 22 year

australia says no to the united states for a greater military commitment against isis militants in syria and iraq. australia's been one of the biggest contributors to the u-s-led bombing campaign against isis. in late-2014 australia committed super hornet fighter jets, as well as support aircraft and 600 air force personnel and special forces soldiers to the fight in iraq. it expanded that mission into syria last year. but australian defense minister marise payne says there are no plans to increase that commitment beyond current levels. although he said australia might contribute more humanitarian aid. horrible news out of phoenix, arizona -- five people are dead after their vehicle drove

highway wednesday night. the accident includes 2 adults and three children. officials say the vehicle went off the highway at an h-o-v off ramp and went through a concrete barrier wall. the mid-sized suv then vaulted through a chain-linked fence and then fell down more than 30 feet to the interstate 10 median where it caught fire. a portion of interstate 10 west had to be shut down as crews investigated the crash. a bus carrying a group of columbia university students from new york city schools crashed in honduras on wednesday, killing three people. the students were on a volunteer mission organized by the group global brigades. according to columbia university, students from barnard college were also on board the bus that crashed east of the honduran capital of tegucigalpa. an additional 14 people are recovering after the accident. new information this noon about the ebola outbreak. liberia says it is finally ebola-free. it the third time in a year

first time since 1978! once again we're following breaking news in newport news. two people were found shot dead inside a van and police tell us they shot a suspect in connection to that shooting. the bodies in the van were found near 14th and wickham almost two hours ago. chopper 10 shows us the scene of the shooting. police say a witness saw a possible suspect running from the scene. that suspect was shot by police and taken to the
