norfolk police k-9's soon to be equipped with an added layer of protection. all of the department's police dogs will receive a ballistic vest. this comes after a suspect killed a norfolk k-9 earlier this week. 10 on your side's joe fisher is live in the newsroom, and joe, this is all happening thanks to a celebrity donation. stephanie -- cnn's anderson cooper is scheduled to speak in norfolk next week. we've learned he'll now be donating his speaker fee to a local non-profit that raises money to buy these kevlar vests for police

spike's k-9 fund has donated vests and provided medical treatment to 32 dogs in 12 states. now, a big check from cnn's anderson cooper will pay for all norfolk's k-9's to receive the $2,200-hundred dollar ballistic vests. in our state was later used in states than 42-hundred crimes were committed that involved the use of a firearm -- that's up from the year before. checking headlines across the nation -- in hawaii -- the search is on right now for 12 marine helicopters collided off the coast of oahu. marine officials say there were six crew members aboard each helicopter. they are from marine corps base hawaii. the collision happened just before midnight -- during a training mission. there has been no word on what caused the collision. the coast with the navy and air force on search and rescue efforts. in maryland -- a grand jury indicted a man for conspiring with isis. investigators say 30-year old mohamed elshinawy told a friend he was preparing himself for jihad. the fbi tracked him for months after he began receiving thousands of dollars -- believed to be from the islamic state. 30-38 (u.s. attorney rod rosenstein) offered to recruit other

even discussed obtaining explosives and carrying out a violent act in the united states. the fbi first raided elshinawy's home in october. he was arrested in december. investigators say he used social media to interact with terror operatives. he first popped up on the fbi's radar after someone in egypt wired him money. in chicago -- a group of protesters frustrated with the mayor - gathered outside the city's annual martin luther king junior breakfast. new data shows women are waiting longer to become mothers. the average age of first-time new moms -- now 26. according to the centers for disease control -- who says the number has been on the rise for the last 15 years. back in 2000, it was just under 25-years- old. researchers say this is partly because there are fewer mothers under the age of 20. in fact, the teen birth rate has hit an all- time low. economic factors also play a role - with an increased number of women putting off motherhood for higher education or a career. this also impacts the population. having children later in life means fewer child-bearing years - and therefore - fewer children. one area of concern, doctors say older women having children increases a mothers risk of complications -like gestational diabetes, and passing on genetic defects. coming up on wavy news ten at five- thirty - london landmarks are shining bright tonight. a first-time festival that's sure to outshine

germany - and australia. stay with us... wavy news 10 at 6 is next. we start at 6 with breaking news in chesapeake. a half dozen massage businesses across the city-- served warrants by police and the feds. only chopper 10 was over the scene of harmony massage on coastal way, as the bust was going on. it was much the same situation at 5 other businesses across the city. 10 on your side's liz kilmer is live outside one of the businesses off volvo parkway. liz? chesapeake police tell me at least 10 people are in custody - but have not been arrested or charged at this hour. here - we haven't seen much businesses across chesapeake take a look - chopper 10 overhead harmony massage on 117 coastal way - where we can see two women in handcuffs, placed into the sheriff's van.

massage parlors are being searched today by city police and homeland security investigations special agents. we're told it's the result of a year long investigation after officers received a complaint. 10 on your side crews went to several of the businesses today -- you can see investigators at pure massage on byron street - and at sunny spa on kempsville road. we're told investigators were checking permits - checking to see if anyone has been living in the businesses - and checking for city code violations - like engaging in inappropriate touching or human trafficking. the other locations searched: asian dream massage on live oak drive. and the parlor at 316 south battlefield. right now - police say there is no indication that these business are all connected. again - we're told at least 10 people are in police custody, being questioned but as far as we know right now - charges have not been filed at this point, no arrests have been made. we are working to get you more information. also tonight-- the day
