soaked in hot water. do not use a blowtorch, kerosene or propane heater or any other open flame. as for your pets, here are some tips from the s-p-c-a. dry your pet's feet especialy in between his toes as soon as he comes inside. bathe your pets as little as possible during cold spells. washing too often strips essential oils. massage petroleum jelly on thier paws to protect them before going outside. never shave your pet in the winter. a longer coat will keep him warmer. and remember if its too cold for you its probably too cold for your pet so keep animals insisde. stranded at norfolk international airport for more than 12 hours. that's what happened to nearly two hundred passengers after their flight made an emergency landing this weekend. and unfortunately - that was just the beginning of their trouble. ten on your side's deanna leblanc caught up with some of the weary passengers this morning -- deanna? those passengers landed in norfolk at 11-45 yesterday morning. tonight - they're still 30 minutes away from landing in their final destination.

finally - airport police broght in water. then - at midnight - a new plane was ready. but their excitment quickly dashed. 2:13:10 after we were in it, they cancelled it, and sent us to a hotel and sent us back. around 2 monday morning - they arrived at the hotel. today - the rebooking process took hours. many - now arriving more than a day late into please, when you call united they say united is going to try to do something for you. to be honest, i don't want something for me. i want it all. 2:26:21 i reached out to united by phone - and got an email response. they say they gave passengers meals - but the passengers said they got vouchers - late into the night - after airport restaurants were closed. united also says the second flight was cancelled because the crew reached their legally permitted duty hours. they say they now plan to offer customers a goodwill gesture for the inconvenience. i asked what that would be - or

ten on your side with up in a tall building - the odds of surviving cardiac arrest go down. researchers looked at more than eight- thousand people who suffered cardiac arrest while living in a high-rise building. survival rates were highest on the first few floors - dropping steadily on the way up. researchers say giving first responders sole access to elevators in a medical emergency -- and better placement of defibrillators could save more lives. something else that can help -- cardio pulmonary resuscitation -- or cpr. because most cardiac arrests happen at home -- cpr is a skill we all should learn cpr instructors say -- even if it's not perfect -- simply learning how to do chest

the u.s. department of transportation released its latest list of on-time performance by u.s. airlines from last november. the on-time average for all airlines - improved compared last year - but dropped slightly from the previous month. hawaiian airlines is ranked number one - with nearly 94 percent of flights on time. rounding out the top 5 were: delta - alaska airlines - united - and american. last on the list with the worst
