now team coverage of the winter storm takes us to the peninsula. 10 on your side's liz kilmer is in hampton -- liz, it's raining out there now, but crews say they had plenty of snow to deal with today -- tom and nicole, no snow but lots of steady rain- and it is certainly cold out here so freezing could be a concern. right now though, roads are more slushy than icy. you're looking at a bridge here on settlers landing road. public works crews have been out and about for quite some time - they were pre- treating

flurries we saw on wednesday. also hard at work right now - private contractors, snow removal companies taking care of parking lots. we spoke with merryman grounds maintenance. just here in hampton they have multiple crews out plowing and salting at dozens of businesses. this is the first big event of the season for them. they started salting last night, and work is far from over. it's gonna revolve back around and snow a little bit tomorrow so we'll work probably until about 4 in the morning, try to get 3 or 4 hours of sleep and then back at tomorrow." runs :13 so while many are hard at work keeping lots and roads safe, try to avoid being out if you can. earlier today in hampton, police responded to nearly 50 accidents in just under five hours. that was when we were seeing snow - at this point, it's just raining here in hampton. this point, it's just

now we're going to look at conditions in virginia beach, where liz palka is standing by - liz what's it like further south? we have a lot of rain here in virginia beach. we are set up in town center right now. there is not a sign of the brief snow fall from earlier today. as one person told me tonight, it's just bad weather. we checked out the oceanfront as well. very windy, especially considering we were by the water. not many people were out and about in this besides the few people that were going to see a band or in town for a sports tournament. i did check in with the city's public work's department. they don't have any trucks out anymore as they did earlier today. that's because they're only seeing rain. however they do

tons of a sand and salt mix ready to go if conditions get worse this crews will continue monitoring the conditions. a fire department spokesman also said they are business as usual. they did respond to a chimney fire call tonight....which is one of the types of fires they worry about when conditions get cold. nicole, back to you. new tonight. police say the weather led to a deadly crash in chesapeake. officers say a vehicle ran off south george washington highway, and hit a tree around 2:30. that's right near the canal bank. investigators closed the road for a while, but it is back open tonight. if you had plans to fly this weekend, you could be in for a last minute change. like many airports across the region -- norfolk international airport has been canceling flights. flights were canceled to washington, d-c -- where

breaking news on the peninsula -- police are trying to figure out how a woman died in newport news. around 10 tonight, officers say they found the 22-year-old in a home on forest lake court -- not far from the shipyard. investigators are calling this an undetermined death. we'll let you know as soon as we have more information. virginia beach police have charged two men for a robbery and abduction. 36-year-old mark albrecht and 49- year-old jorge zambrana are behind bars. detectives say they got several tips after 10 on your side interviewed the victim this week. she told us two men approached her outside sam's club off virginia beach boulevard and forced her into her own car. she says they drove her around to several atms, taking her money before dropping her off. check your fridge-- we have an alert for you. dole is recalling packaged salads due to possible listeria contamination. the company says at least one person died-- and 12
