the massive east coast storm is over...but cleanup is just beginning. take a look at the damage from downed trees in raleigh, north carolina. heavy snow, ice, and wind can make winter storms extremely dangerous when trees or other structures can't handle the extra weight. the winter storm slammed much of the east coast, killing at least 30 people. officials in some of the biggest cities up the east coast are encouraging their citizens to stay patient. (mayor bill de blasio, new york city) leave your car where it is. don't try to shovel it out today. it's not quite business as usual today, major cities like new york, baltimore, philadelphia, and the washington, d.c. are still digging out. in philadelphia, the flights startred going out again...other mass transit will slowly get back online throughout the day. the new york travel ban has been lifted since early sunday morning. subway and rail lines will run today but residents are encouraged to avoid driving. and for our neighbors to the north in the d.c.

virginia - federal and state government are closed again today. people in alaska are worried about aftershocks earthquake. check out the impact of the quake from saturday morning. officials say the quake caused gas leaks and fires at four homes. they exploded and were completely destroyed. the quake also knocked out power to nearly five-thousand people. about 30 homes were evacuated, but no one was hurt in the quake. officials say it's one of alaska's strongest earthquakes in decades. a six-point-three magnitude earthquake shook spain's southern coast early today. it was followed by six smaller aftershocks. emergency services recieved 240 calls from residents who were alarmed. many people callled in to report damage to buildings, but thankfully there are no reports of injuries. the earthquake also knocked out power for many people. today students are staying home as crews inspect schools for damage. one town in ohio is dealing with contaminated water right now. schools are closed in sebring after water samples tested positive for unsafe

e-p-a is moving to revoke the license of the town's water treatment operator after it took three months to warn the public about the unsafe water. there is a water advisory in effect for pregnant women and for children. the ohio e-p-a is demanding the village fix the lead pipes and continue testing the water. in the meantime -- the e-p-a will provide up to 25 thousand dollars for water filtration for the village. this on the heels of a massive water crisis in flint, michigan. our sister station w-l-n-s joined members of a local church who reached out to undocumented immigrants - afraid to pick up free suplies, because of their legal status. alexis rosado helped spread the word - that help is available for everyone who needs it.
