a family desperatly searching for answers in a homicide from nearly a month ago. im brandi cummings in norfolk with how they spent the day. first at 4: police are still working to find out what happened before a tragic murder-suicide in chesapeake. and 10 on your side continues to work to uncover new information about the family who died. police say one man killed his brother at a deep creek home --- then shot and killed his parents, grandmother, sister then himself at another house. 10 on your side's andy where he's being talking to detectives and neighbors of the dooley family. andy all day friends have been in the house cleaning up and throwing things away this is what was home today police were at the house, and so was a forensic investigator. she came out with some evidence she put in folders, and then went

accused of a sex crime. deputies arrested darrell walker on tuesday after he allegedly forced a man into sexual acts. but, yesterday, he was released from custody. 10 on your side's joe fisher is following the latest developments from the newsroom tonight. joe. stephanie -- we know the second-degree sex offense against darrell walker has been dismissed. the court clerk tells us "further evidentry investigation is necessary." and that development has friends questioning the claims against walker. here's the timeline. on monday night, deputies received a 9- 1-1 call from a man who said he agreed to do landscaping work for walker. but he told authorities when he got to walker's house --- he was led inside and forced into sexual acts. on tuesday, deputies arrested walker and booked him into jail. but we've learned he was released yesterday after the charges were dismissed. walker is a middle school teacher in perquimans county. one friend told me today even though the charges have been dropped for

looking for the victim in a sexual battery. it happened new year's eve at the tabb walmart. investigators say the suspect grabbed the victim inappropriately. store security identified the suspect. but the victim left without being identified. deputies would like her to come forward so they can talk to her. if you have any information --- call the crime line. a rude awakening for a portsmouth resident. a driver crashed a van through a fence and into a storage shed outside his home. this is at claremont drive near deep creek, right by the chesapeake border. police dispatchers say the driver had a seizure and that caused him to lose control. the man who lives in the house says he was asleep when it happened. but i was sleeping cause i work night shift/3rd shift pcsi, but when i came out there (shaking head)...i didn't real see what happened until i came out there." the man says he usually exercises right where the van plowed through. new information in a house fire in

a body after they put out the flames hoover avenue in south norfolk. police are ruling this a suicide. the homeowner and neighbors tell 10 on your side an elderly woman died. the fire department is still investigating exactly what sparked the flames. this man is out of the hospital and in jail charged in a swat situation, robberies suffolk. 23-year-old kevon hawkins faces a of charges including larceny, robbery, burglary assault and resisting arrest. he also faces gun charges. officers tracked hawkins to the super 8 on north main street on january 12th. they say the woman came out, and hawkins shot himself in the face. he was released from the hospital on wednesday. a man is in custody for a new year's day shooting in norfolk. officers arrested 24-year-old ceason moore last night. detectives say he shot a man on hugo street near norfolk garden. witnesses say they heard an argument in the street before the gunfire. the victim survived. moore faces malicious wounding, attempted

a virginia beach jail inmate faces more charges after deputies say they found drugs in a cell. 27-year-old zachary creekmore was booked into the jail wednesday when his bond was revoked on burglary charges. he was searched and no drugs were found. but later that evening --- deputies received a tip about drugs in the jail. they say they found marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy inside one of the jail cells. the sheriff's office believes the drugs were swallowed and retrieved inside the facility. right now at at 4: the weekend weather. meteorologist ashley baylor is in the super doppler 10 weather center. tonight: mainly clear. lows: near 30. winds: nw 5-10 mph. saturday: plenty of sunshine. seasonably mild! highs: low-50s. winds: sw 5-10 mph.

democratic governor terry mcauliffe and republican lawmakers have reached a compromise on virginia gun policies. governor mcauliffe and house speaker william j. howell outlined the deal today. the proposed policy strengthens some gun control measures while reversing a policy that would have invalidated concealed handgun permits in virginia held by residents of 25 other states. gop leaders have agreed to support a measure prohibiting people from carrying a gun if they are subject to a permanent protective order for a domestic violence offense. the governor and house speaker say the compromise is a win for the state --- not any particular party. chesapeake residents can learn more from the navy next week about contaminated water in their community. 10 on your side first reported the issue near fentress last week. test results showed that drinking water near the

dangerous chemicals. the navy says it used firefighting foam containing the chemicals in past training at fentress. the navy is providing drinking water to affected residents. now the navy, e-p-a, the city and state agencies will talk with residents next tuesday. the meeting will be held at butts road intermediate school from 4 to 7 p-m. food trucks can roll into portsmouth. this week city council unanimously approved allowing them on residential and nonresidential private property. on residential property --- food trucks are allowed to operate up to three times a month. on nonresidential private property --- such as office building parking lots they can operate as often as they would like. trucks can apply for a permit from the planning food handler permits from the health department and other required licenses and inspections. on the same day they remember him --- a local homicide victim's family works to get answers. 10 on your side's brandi cummings talked to them about their search for information. ticket troubles. the results of an

you could say today was a very fitting day for the norfolk k-9 unit. they started the process to get all of their working dogs a new piece of safety equipment to protect them in tense times. here at double tap military surplus, one paw at a time, each dog was measured for a ballistic vest. they're custom-made, top of the line and a wag of the tail made it at least appear that the k-9's approve. recalled for a third time because it still could be an issue despite a fix. nissan will notify affected owners next month. a fall hazard has prompted the recall of nearly one-and-a-half million of these shower rugs. the aqua rugs have four plastic suction cups. they were sold in beige and clear. trister products has received dozens of reports of people falling in the shower or bathtub while on the rugs. at least 30 people were hurt. some broke bones. bed bath and beyond and dollar general are among the stores that sold the rugs. apple is recalling m illions of power adapters because they could cause an electric shock. the adapters were shipped between 2003 and 2015 with macs and other apple devices. they were also included in the apple world travel adapter kit. apple said it will exchange the faulty plugs for free at any apple store or authorized apple service provider. it will also refund customers who bought new plugs over the issue.

you. toymaker lego has unveiled its first mini-figure in a wheelchair. (show lego wheelchair figure) the wheelchair figure will be introduced as part of the new lego city set this june. the new set appears to show a scene in a park, with figures of parents and babies in a playground. it's now on display at the international toy fair in germany. the new figure is in response to requests from organizations representing the disabled.

happened to a lot of people. you log on to buy tickets to a concert the moment they go on sale --- and the show is sold out. the attorney general of new york state says buying tickets is a fixed game. most tickets are never available to begin with. according to a three year investigation --- some shows had 70-percent of tickets earmarked for pre-sale events not available to the general public. other ticket brokers are using a high tech purchasing technique called a bot to scoop up tickets before fans even get a chance. in one example --- someone bought more than one-thousand tickets in one minute for one concert. chris morran/ of a state in the country where this isn't a problem. uh and it happens at every major concert venue." experts say your best shot at landing high-demand tickets is to register for fan clubs to get early access or look for single seats. a north carolina bank manager plays tug of war with a door and an attempted robber. and it's all caught on tape.

remembering the life of a sailor and demanding answers. that's how a family spent the day. norfolk police say christopher allen was shot and killed a month ago. it happened on waverly way. allen's family began the day at a memorial service then went passing out flyers. they want to know who killed christopher allen. 10 on your side's brandi cummings spent the day with them and joins us now with their story. anita- the allen family wants to know who killed christopher allen and why. they're offering 10-thousand dollars in a reward for infomation. the family went to waverly way posting flyers and talking to neighbors. they're hoping to get any information that leads to an arrest in christopher allen's murder. on january 4, norfolk police said they went to waverly way after

they say allen was found shot inside the home and later died at a hospital. there have been no arrests in the case. allen's family wants to know what happened to their youngest son. his family describes him as the life of the party. one who was a mentor to others and a leader in the navy. today fellow sailors remembered him. sot - capt steven l. stancy, commanding was also invovled in building up sailors and that's a very important part of what a first class petty officer would do and he did that really, really well. 43:45 as i mentioned, christopher allen's shipmates remembered him during a memorial service this morning. only 10 on allen's father. that part of the story is coming up tonight on wavy news 10 at 5:30. live in the newsroom, brandi cummings 10 on your side. the navy says an unarmed iranian drone flew over the norfolk-based u-s-s harry s. truman in the persian gulf iranian state television is showing this

footage . the footage shows the drone launch and the flight above the ship. it zooms into fighter jets on the deck. the navy says a drone flew over the truman on january 12th. a helicopter determined there were no weapons on the drone. the navy isn't confirming this video is authentic. it says the footage shows the same thing as maritime videos available on line. the truman is in the region launching airstrikes and supporting operations against isis in iraq and syria. the drone incident occurred on the same day that iran seized 10 american sailors. they were released the next day. a news agency is iran also reports an iranian navy submarine deployed close to the carrier on a mission to gather intelligence and capture video of the ship's moves. the report claimed that the sub managed to take clear pictures of the aircraft carrier without catching the attention of the crew. later tonight --- the midtown tunnel will close for the weekend. 10 on your side's jen lewis has more on the shutdown and information about lane closures at other bridges and tunnels in this weekend's

around the world: for the second time in a week --- there's speculation that debris from missing malaysian airlines flight m-h-370 may have surfaced. aviation officials are examining a six foot long metal object suspected to be plane wreckage that washed up on the coast on wednesday . it was spotted floating in the same stretch of coastline where another piece of suspected plane debris was found on saturday . authorities say that debris did not belong to m-h-370. the plane disappeared in 2014 with 239 people on board. malaysian and french officials said a piece of debris that washed up on the indian ocean island of reunion last year came from the plane. four miners are back above ground after spending more than a month trapped underground in a collapsed mine in china. rescuers pulled them out today. all of the rescued miners looked calm when exposed to light for the first time 36 days. doctors say the have some

"affluenza teen" ethan couch remains in a juvenile detention facility. couch appeared in court in texas today for the first time since being deported from mexico on thursday.

to stay in the juvenile facility until a judge rules on transferring the case to the adult system. authorities believe couch and his mother escaped to mexico in early december. texas proscecutors were investigating whether he may have violated his probation in a 2013 drunken-driving wreck that killed four people. couch was 16 at the time of the wreck. the case has been handled so far in juvenile court. lawyers for boston marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev have filed a notice of appeal. the notice filed today with an appeals court doesn't describe any grounds for appeal. those will be spelled out later. one is expected to be the defense argument that the trial shouldn't have been held in boston because many people have connections to the marathon. last year --- tsarnaev was convicted and sentenced to death in the 2013 bombings. the f-b-i has released video of the deadly traffic stop shooting of an occupier of a national wildlife refuge in oregon. this video is from an f-b-i plane that was

the special agent in charge says when lavoy finicum's white turck approached the roadblock, he tried to maneuver around it and got stuck in a snowbank. investigators say when finicum got out of the truck, he reached toward his pocket and was shot. the f-b-i says there was a loaded handgun in that pocket. the occupation is not over. the f-b-i says four people remain inside the refuge.. police are searching for the man who tried to rob a north carolina bank. the suspect didn't get inside thanks to the actions of a brave bank manager --- who fought to protect his staff and customers. the p-n-c bank manager happened to be be standing in the lobby looking out the door when he saw a man dressed in all black running across the parking lot and towards the door . the door opens a little, but the manager holds on. eventually the suspect gives up and runs away. (chief tim hayworth, zebulon police) "the manager grabs the door and kind of enters a little game of tug-o-war." (butt to) "the suspect produces a small, black, semiautomatic handgun and begins to strike the window of the door with a

(butt to) "i consider the manager a hero and i've told him so." bank employees pushed the alarm button while the manager played tug of war with the suspect. police were there within a minute. the suspect was gone. no one was hurt. this is police body cam video of a police pursuit that ended at a cracker barrel restaurant in new mexico. officers were chasing a wanted suspect on tuesday when the man flipped his pick up truck. "he's at cracker barrel. p-d he's at cracker barrel." the suspect then bolted into the cracker barrel with officers close behind. customers started running for the exit. the suspect tried to hide behind a display in the store --- but was taken into custody. no one was hurt. there are two huge sinkholes on the same street in southwest oregon. the biggest one took out most of the travel lanes on highway 101 in harbor along the southern coast. the second sinkhole is
