we've learned that police are looking into whether the family was in fact killed on monday night. we do know that brooke dooley didn't show up for school tuesday and her father, todd, he was missing from work tuesday as well. tonight we're getting some new insight on the dooley family from a neighbor. reporter: it really is amazing. we are hearing for the first time from a neighbor, lives right next door to the dooley family, when all of this was going down, she was videotaping what was going on and she is the first one we have been able to find who can put together what this family was like as a family. not the individuals and how they were, but as a family. and how they lived together. todd doolyeas brother met with temple baptist church to make funeral arrangements.

remembers a family that joked around, seemed at peace. she remembers cameron, who police say killed his family. >> i couldn't believe it because he was such a nice boy. i'd see him out in the yard and he would wave hi. oh, my god. >> cameron, put your hands up. >> they started putting lights on the house. and that's when i broke out my phone and started videoing. >> cameron, there are people out here who care about you. you need to come out with your hands up. reporter: she remembers brothers at play, cameron and landon. >> i'd see them outside playing with his brother. i mean, brotherly horsing around. reporter: cameron killed landon in this house. it is unsure if that was before or after he killed all the others in doris' house. parker remembers cameron and his sister, brooke. >> when his little sister was

protective of her. reporter: now he's accused of killing her. >> exactly. it's shocking. reporter: you can tell parker has trouble even saying it. another neighbor describes cameron as a loner, reserved, always looked uncomfortable, possibly jealous of other family relations. living with his grandmother and not with his family. but no outward signs of mental illness. >> they had an old tree in the backyard that needed cutting down. he'd cut it down. him, his dad and his brother. and they were out there goofing off and having fun. reporter: tonight our hearts and prayers go out to the dooley family, arriving from all over the country to deal with this tragedy. and our hearts and prayers go out to the chesapeake police family. todd dooley recently retired. they're hurting a lot too. chris: thank yous very much. a reminder for everyone.

family. it will be held at temple baptist. attended for years. on george washington highway. the vigil begins at 5:00. we have more information on the funeral fund for the family, as story since it broke. it's all on wavy.com. nicole: a sex assault case against a north carolina teacher. on wednesday we first told you about the arrest of darryl walk who are teaches at a middle school. now we've learned those charges have been dismissed. joe fisher spent the day to get an update. what happened? reporter: i've been working all day to learn about this reversal. the only bit of information i have is that further investigation into the evidence is needed. so the question tonight remains, why was walker arrested in the first place? >> upset, hurt, praying for him. just can't believe that they would even charge a man like him.

walker's arrest spread across elizabeth city just as fast as the middle school teacher was released from custody. hearing the details of the report, your first thoughts were what? >> it's not him. it's not true. reporter: deputies charged walker after allegedly forcing another man into sex acts. a claim that for now has been dismissed. walker's former classmate, he would go on to teach her kids in elizabeth city. >> wonderful guy. caring. always willing to go above and beyond for others. reporter: deputies say they got a 911 call from an adult man monday night. he told authorities he agreed to do landscaping for walker but he was led inside the house where the sex acts allegedly occurred. on tuesday, deputies arrested walker. on thursday, the district attorney dropped the charges. the clerk telling 10 on your side, further evidence investigation is necessary.

destroyed from a lie. reporter: jones says guilty or not guilty, she's worried about walker's name in the community. >> this ruins his reputation. i mean, his job, working with children. it's messed up his life. it's not right. reporter: we are still working to get an answer from the district attorney's office about why he decided to dismiss these charges. meantime, i just got off the phone with matthew cheesman. he's the superintendent of the school where walker works. he told me just minutes ago that they're following these new developments and effective today, they've suspended him with pay, pending the outcome of their investigation. chris: thanks. an assistant principal in norfolk will be held without bond following charges of indecent liberties against the case of a child. that decision this afternoon by a judge in norfolk for 64-year-old gary jordan. he's accused of making inappropriate comments to a

jordan is assistant principal at madison alternative center. police say the incident happened in the same block where the school's located. he's on administrative leave as the investigation continues. nicole: a scary wakeup call for a man this morning. a driver crashed through a fence and into a shed outside his home. we have the video from collar month drive near deep creek on the chesapeake border. police dispatchers say the person driving the van had a seizure and lost control. the man who lives there was asleep when it happened. he was not hurt. chris: the homicide victim's family wants answer tonight. a 27-year-old say lore, christopher allen, was shot and killed a months ago. no one has been arrested. today his family spent time at a memorial service. after that service, they went back to the area where allen was shot to pass out fliers. >> our hearts are broken. part of us is gone. we just want some justice. for our son. we want some closure on this

continue. nicole: you could say today was a very fitting day for the norfolk k-9 unit. chris: they started the process to get all of their working dogs a new piece of safety equipment to protect them in texans times. one paw at a time. each dog was measured for a ballistic vest. they're custom-made with top of the line technology.

now on hrscene.com. chris: a different type of effort to address crime concerns in a notoriously dangerous part of norfolk. nicole: we are talking about the area around o.d.u. employees from the school itself are involved in this project. it's called knock and talk. and for most of the afternoon volunteers are going door to door around 42nd street to talk about ways to prevent crime. we have been out and about as well. liz? reporter: this was a very neat

it was all about increasing communication and safety among students who live off campus. we walked along with them to get a good idea what have it was all about. this was organized by the s.g.a. and the student director of off campus life. done this. this school year. they've talked with students who live off campus about on-campus resources. they also handed out light bulbs and door alarms. the undergrads said the point of this was to talk about safety and find out what the needs are of students who live off campus. the o.d.u. dean of students, staff and o.d.u. police all walked along. >> our goal is to not only increase safety but increase communication that goes between the o.d.u. police and the students. we want everybody to feel comfortable talking with each other, so if you're just walking down the street, you can say hi to them. reporter: one of the resources students were talking about this afternoon is registering your party.

here on and off campus. and it's just started this semester. we're going to talk more about that tonight on news at 11:00. chris: a reminder about an important traffic detour for people in norfolk and portsmouth. the midtown tunnel will shut down at 8:00 for the weekend. the tunnel will be shut down until 5:00 monday morning at the latest. the main alternate is the downtown tunnel and we'll let you know, of course, if the midtown opens before 5:00 monday morning. >> now, your superdoppler 10 forecast. meteorologist: we have a weak little shift line move through the area. i want to show you what's going on over the past couple of hours. and you'll be able to see the clouds moving on off and the setting sun, all the way on down to the horizon. very, very dry air has moved off.

it had some clouds and wind and a little bit of rain with it even. toward the middle peninsula and northern neck that's gone. that's long kang -- gone. and it is dropping our temperatures. but it's not going to be a huge drop for the day tomorrow. so tomorrow we're looking ok. here's what's going on with the wind. not quite as strong as it was during the middle of the afternoon. we had a lot of wind gusts, around 40 miles per hour, as that popped through with the clouds and the wind shift line. above 15 miles per hour right now. not all that many of them. there are a few more along the eastern shore. a little bit windier along the eastern shore with wind gusts above 50. temperatures around 42 to 46 degrees in the hampton roads area. cooler inland as the drier air's really, really started to take hold. and that allows the temperatures to really start to drop. wind gusts to 38 miles per hour right now. that's the strongest we've got in the region for right now. those winds should drop off later on tonight. the dew point is dropping off. what's that got to do with anything? you can see quite clearly with this line right through here

humidity off to the southeast and northeast north carolina. you'll see that dry air drop on in with these lower due points, really in the next hour. so, a cooler weekend with all of this, showing you that line that dropped on through, a couple of sprinkles moved on through to parts of the area. our skies have cleared. but, no, not really. in fact, it will be cooler overnight. that will be the cool part of the weekend. we'll drop on down to the upper 20's to around the 30, 31-degree mark. i would not doubt that we'd see some 25-degree readings in some inland rural areas for the overnight hours. then during the day tomorrow, we warm right back up to about where we were today. we were around 50, 51 degrees for the day today. however, it felt cooler because of the wind. tomorrow, we're not going to have any wind to speak of. it will be out of the southwest at five to 10 miles per hour. a few clouds late on in the afternoon. now we move on into sunday. with a southwesterly breeze, not demeerl as cold to start

look at the high temperatures during the middle of the day. 64, 65, 61. so really real, real nice warm day coming up for the day sunday. that's through the weekend. not bad tomorrow. a lot less wind, around 50, 51 degrees. for sunday, a low to mid 60's. we're really warming up nicely. we'll stay warm into monday and then we'll see a little cool front monday night. could produce a stray shower monday night. i didn't even put it on the forecast because it's at night. then finally by wednesday, we're seeing rainfall likely during the afternoon hours. that will start to move on in. so that's where everything's coming from. put it all together. with the forecast 3rks3 degrees by 4:00 in the morning. it will be pretty close to 30 and some 20's inleft-hand side by 7:00 in the morning. warming up to the low 50's, around 50, 51 degrees, for the afternoon tomorrow. and not much wind really to speak of whatsoever. here's where we are for sunday. 64 degrees. 66 monday. tuesday, remember, monday night, we got that little bit of a weak cool front popping through. with a stray shower.

arrived last night. there were no balls. so the monarchs improvised and still went through their routine, minus a key component. no balls, no problem. simply put, o.d.u. senior guard freeman is in the zone. last night, the monarchs picked up a 78-66 win on the road against florida atlantic. in that game, freeman joined o.d.u.'s 1,000-point club. very impressive milestone for the high school grad who transferred to o.d.u. from campbell. freeman is on a historic roll for old dominion. he scored at least 28 points and his last five games. it's one of the best scoring stretches in school history. o.d.u. improved to 4-4 in conference play and will try to get over the .500 mark tomorrow in miami against florida international. speaking of scoring, a school record with 16 three-pointers in the tribe's 94-79 win at delaware. tony shafer's team also dished

second most in school history. david cone had 23 points. and connor birchfield once again put on a shooting clinic. he scored 18 points, all of them were from three-pointland. william and mary hosts james madison on sunday. both tied for second place in the c.a.a. the battle of the bay, between norfolk state and hampton yoofrlt is always a spectical and it's even morin treeinging when both teams are winning. expect a rocking atmosphere tomorrow night when hampton hosts n.s.u. with first-place on the line. this will be the 128th meeting between the two long-time rivals. the spartans have won five of their past six games and are a half game behind hanson for the conference lead. n.s.u. scored the regular season sweep last season, but lost to hampton in the tournament at scope. >> it's the game we all circle. us and norfolk. i think fans on both sides of game. it's going to be fun. the fact that we're both kind
