was charged after police were called out to the couple's home on sedgewick court. when they got there they found terrance covington lying in a pool of blood. he'd been stabbed in the chest. dejesus was charged with his death. after reviewing the case the commonwealth's attorney says witnesses and physical evidence overwhelmingly showed dejesus acted in self defense. that's why the charge was dropped and covington's family can't believe it. ""i think it is completely unfair a murder just walked free. people who run a traffic light get more punishment than than that. nothing changes the fact that she stabbed him and killed him" dejesus was already out on bond. she sat and court and weeded as the judge

go. she did not have anything to say as she left court. covington had three children-- one of those with megan. live in virginia beach jason marks 10 on your side virginia beach police arrested a man for a murder earlier this week. this is 38-year-old christopher mitchell. police say he shot and killed 39-year-old robert atwood early sunday morning on newtown arch near south newtown road. atwood died at the hospital. mitchell is charged with second degree murder. he is being held in the virginia beach correctional center without bond. a newport news man is in the hospital after someone shot him. police are still trying to find who did it. it happened on 31st steet and oak avenue around seven last night. the man was shot several times. police say he was shot outside, but made his way into a nearby home. police still don't have any suspects. but if you saw something or know who may have done this, call crime line at the number on your screen. remember, you can get a reward if your information leads to an arrest. today portsmouth councilman danny meeks was suppose to be in court. councilman meeks was

now at 4:30... plans for a new runway at the norfolk international international airport have been grounded by the faa. airport officials say the new runway would help prevent delays and make the air traffic safer on the ground. 10 on your side's brandi cummings spoke to airport officials about the plans. stephanie, anita- the airport authority is disappointed with the faa's decision to stop the creation of this new parallel runway. the plans were for it to be 65-hundred feet and run parallel with the current runway. right now there are two runways at norfolk international. the longest one is the one used by all the aircraft carriers and even the private planes. the shorter one - known as the cross winds runway is rarely used. that's why the airport authority wanted to create a new one. officials say the new runway could cut down on delays by allowing more planes in and out of the airport.
