we're following developing news out of virginia beach. a woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death has been set free. the commonwealth's attorney's office "nolle prossed" the charges today-- citing that the investigation revealed she acted in self-defense. 10 on your side jason marks joins us now. jason -- that's a big development. it was-- terrance covington's family says they were shocked when they found out the charges were being dropped and they simply don't understand why. norfolk you can apply online. cynvoe enterprises will hold a job fair on feb 18, 10 am - 2:30 pm at the kroc center, norfolk . 20 employers will take part including new york life insurance, averett university and bath fitters. the city of norfolk is also holding its spring job fair at the workforce development march 24 10am - 1pm. we've put all of this information on wavy.com stephanie harris toys one package in particular at a u-p-s store in hampton shut down several stores today. it happened around 11 this morning. the bomb squad came to the store on towne center way off big bethel road. several businesses were evacuated as investigators took a look at the package. about an hour and a half later the all clear was given. we are working to find out what was inside the suspicious package.

arrested a man for a murder earlier this week. police say 38-year-old christopher mitchell shot and killed 39-year-old robert atwood. it happened early sunday morning, on newtown arch near south newtown road. atwood died at the hospital. mitchell is charged with second degree murder. he's in the virginia beach correctional center without bond. norfolk police released surveillance video- they say- shows a man trying to break into a seafood restaurant. do you recognize this man? this is surveillance video from 3 a-m thursday, at old bay seafood on lafayette boulevard. the suspect did not manage to get inside -- but there's major damage to the back door. call the crime line, if you recognize him. a man is behind bars for allegedly robbing a 7-eleven in virginia beach. police say 26 year old gregory jones went into the store on seaboard road near nimmo parkway early this morning. investigators tell us he went up to the clerk and demanded cash. police pulled jones over shortly after the crime. police charged jones with

a quick update to breaking news we've been following in chesapeake -- the westbound lanes are shut down because of crash involving three vehicles. this is a live look from our wavy traffic jam cam. the crash happened around three. the eastbound lane re-opened about an hour ago. we're told a van sideswiped a tractor trailer that was stopped on the shoulder. it went on to hit another tractor trailer headed in the same direction. one of the tractor trailers lost its load. police say the driver of the van was taken to the hospital - but is expected to be ok. a storm is moving in. where's the rain now and how bad is it? chief meteorologist don slater is in the super doppler 10 weather center with our first forecast. tonight: rain with a few isolated thunderstorms. temps: starting near 70, then falling into the upper-50s by 7 am. winds: s to w 10-20 mph. thursday: cloudy with intermittent showers.
