we are following developing news out of virginia beach. police are still searching for a dangerous suspect. this is 20-year-old devante williams. police say he was involved in a shooting on kitimal drive, near dam neck road, this morning . the victim's family tell us he shot his own mother. she is expected to be okay. erin kelly joins us live. erin, what are family members telling you right now? devante's father says they love him -- and want to get him the help he needs. he doesn't know why this

on his wife -- who is doing better. police surrounded this home on kitimal drive near dam neck road thursday morning. they got a call for a shooting around 7:30. dylan riggs - neighbor c0016 - 926 i woke up to a phone call from my mom saying there was a shooting about 7 houses down. come to find out, coming outside, it was one of my neighbors. 933 neighbor dylan riggs told us he didn't know what happened or who was involved. police have been searching for 20 year old devante jamal williams. they say he's armed and dangerous. dylan riggs - neighbor c0016 - 1341 that's never happened ever in this neighborhood, so it's very scary, especially, you know, we do have a lot of children. a lot of young young children and to even know that there's somebody that's shooting in this area is very scary. 1357 police have been looking for a 2014 four door red toyota camry with virginia tags that say "prosper." dylan riggs - neighbor 1029 it's actually always parked right beside the house. i believe that's the mom's car. 1035 court paperwork shows williams was charged with

investigation hit the headline his votes benefited townebank borrowers. the investigation forced townebank to change policy. bank senior executives like sessoms can no longer run for elective office. sessoms had to choose between keeping his job with townebank or be mayor. he chose the people with a little nudging (37:17 8 after 37:25) ((i think you can't understate the parachute it was very generous )) runs: 05 sessoms parachute. he gets $425,000 a year until 2019 then his retirement kicks in $215,000 a year for 15 years. child in the back seat. since october -- and he'll stay there after a judge found him guilty on three misdeamonors. the judge also certified one count of felony eluding and one count of child endangerment to a grand jury. a state police trooper -- who testified in court thursday -- said he spotted johnson driving 75 in a 55 -- on i-64 east near indian river road october 10. the trooper tried pulling him over, but he never stopped. johnson finally stopped near reon road -- but when the trooper got out of his car -- he again took off. this time reaching speeds at 100 miles per hour, according to court testimony, for a mile before slamming into a townhouse on peppermill place. :15 "high speed chase, eventually i don't know if he lost control ... he ran into the house." the trooper testified that when johnson got out of

the accomack county sheriff's office has no suspects yet just after midnight --- deputies found a man shot outside a home on raymond townsend lane in horntown. 22-year-old robert baytops the fourth died at the hospital. hampton police believe they have the man responsible for a deadly robbery in custody. police say an employee of the gift card atm store on west mercury boulevard shot two suspects last month. 18-year-old timothy johnson died at the scene. 21-year-old tacarie veney was also shot and went to the hospital. now veney is in jail facing a list of charges. the employee who shot the suspect isn't facing charges because he was legally carrying the gun.

a portsmouth man for allegedly taking indecent liberties with a child. court documents say donald womack gave the 15-year-old money, food and alcohol. on three occasions, the documents say: the alcohol made the teen pass out. police say womack inappropriately touched the victim in october and november. in 2012, a judge sentenced the 41- year-old to serve eight months of a five year sentence-- for taking indecent liberties with a child. he now faces five new charges. 63-year-old raymond ellis faces several charges including abduction and robbery. virginia beach police arrested him for two similar cases: one on rosemont road on january 16th, and the other on january 26th-- on the same road. both crimes involved the suspect armed with a knife approaching victims in a parking lot. one was also sexually assaulted. ellis is in jail without bond. coming up on wavy news 10 at 5:30- caught on camera. more than a dozen a-b-c stores are ripped off. why police think it may have been done by a repeat offender.

a follow-up to a federal lawsuit involving military housing. a new trial date has been set for a family claiming they found mold in their home. in 20-10. a family says mold at the lincoln military housing complex in norfolk made them sick. the case was put on hold when the judge declared a mistrial-- right after jury selection last month. trial is now set for march second. the navy teamed up with responders from chesapeake for a special exercise. this is a drill for an active shooter at the northwest annex. n-c-i-s was also there to observe. with so many occurrences of mass violence in the world, officials say these exercises are vital.
