kitimal drive in ocean lakes forced two schools to go under lockdown. 10 on your side's erin kelly has been on the story all day-- and she has the latest. erin? devante's father says he doesn't know why this happened -- that he wants to get his son help. meanwhile, devante's mother is said to be doing better, recovering from this shooting. virginia beach police are looking for 20 year old devante jamal williams. they believe he's armed and dangerous -- the suspect of a shooting at his home on kitimal drive near dam neck road. dylan very scary at first. we noticed that the schools were on lockdown. 946 officials placed ocean lakes high school and elementary school on lockdown as a precaution while police investigated. neighbor dylan riggs says he knows the williams family -- and was very surprised to hear about the shooting. dylan riggs - neighbor c0016 - 1315 hopefully who did it, like i said, i hope that they find

toyota camry with a virginia license plate that reads, "prosper." williams is wanted for attempted murder, two gun charges, and carjacking. court paperwork shows williams was charged with stealing a female family member's gun -- and car back in august -- the car had the same description as the red one police are looking for tonight. prosecutors later dropped the charges against him. if you have any information for police, call the crime line. live in virginia beach, erin kelly, 10 on your side. we'll continue to keep tabs on this story between newscasts-- and bring you updates on wavy dot com as we get them. a small town on the eastern shore is rocked by a deadly shooting. the sheriff tells 10 on your side: 22- year-old robert baytops the fourth was shot and killed outside a house on raymond townsend lane in horntown. that's near the maryland border. authorities haven't said anything about a suspect. if you know anything-- call the

right now-- a sad remembrance in moyock. you're looking at a live picture of a vigil for lucas ballard. the 9 year old was killed in a crash monday night in norfolk. ballard and his 7 year old best friend keion mcclenny were in the car when it was hit by a pickup truck on 27th street and llewellyn avenue. we're told keion is home from the hospital. the vigil just got underway in the moyock elementary school cafeteria. liz kilmer will have more on this story at 10 and 11. back to virginia beach-- and a day in court for a suspect in a bizarre lynnhaven parkway, in october. devonte johnson ran from police-- and in the process-- police say he threw a three-year-old boy over a fence. 10 on your side's joe fisher is in virginia beach with the latest. joe? two felonies and three misdemeanors are moving forward here in virginia beach court against devonte johnson. police say the convicted felon took them on a high speed pursuit, topping 100 miles per hour in october -- and

entire time he had a three year old child in the back seat. ((c5 34:34)) "he finally told the police that it was a mistake not 20 miles over the speed limit on i-64 east in october. when state police tried to pull him over, he took off. super = william taliaferro, jr./defense attorney "he gave the police a statement that someone tried to rob him earlier at a small mart around there somewhere and that initially he was running from those people." a state trooper who testified in court thursday said the chase reached upwards of 100 miles per hour before johnson hit a curb and slammed into a townhouse near peppermill place, off indian river road. :15 "high speed chase, eventually i don't know if he lost control ... he ran into the house." the trooper who said in testimony after the crash he asked johnson to take the baby out of the car to make sure he was okay. instead, he says johnson grabbed the baby and ran off.

baby "like a basketball" over a six foot privacy fence. this cell phone video shows the child being carried to the ambulance. a grand jury will decide whether not to indict johnson for eleduing police and child endangerment february 16th. his defense tells 10 on your side he plans to appeal all three misdeameanors, including reckless driving and driving and resisting arrest. lawyer: "you see police lights behind him, you think he should have stopped?" "he used some pretty bad judgement there's no question about it." new information in a deadly robbery in hampton. police say they have a suspect in custody. 21 year old tacarie veney faces a list of charges from the holdup last month at the gift card a-t-m store on west mercury

timothy johnson were shot by an employee. johnson was killed. the employee had a permit to carry the gun. in portsmouth-- donald womack has been indicted on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child. court documents say donald womack gave the 15-year-old victim presents, money, food and alcohol. police say womack innapropriately touched the teenger in october and november. womack was ordered in 20-12 to serve eight months for taking indecent liberties with a child. a special drill in chesapeake today-- all for something no one wants to happen. 10 on your side was at the northwest annex for an active shooter exercise. first responders from the city and the navy participated. n-c-i-s was also on hand to take notes. a similar drill was held at j-e-b little creek-fort story. it was part of a scheduled anti- terrorism exercise-- not prompted by a specific threat. the coast guard cutter "bear" is back in hampton roads. for the past month, the crew has been patrolling the waters in the

's reputation tarnished. he thought the papers were unfair to rush publication. mayor sessoms: i truly believe that if i had time, could i have prevented the article?

have been certainly less. andy: we called a pilot for an interview and a publisher e-mailed us. this was an important story for the community to know about. the investigation called into question 50 sessoms votes. all of them went away except for one. he pleaded no contest for casting a vote involving this property known as medicine lending condominiums. he failed to dig deeper into 26 pages of information on the project. mayor sessoms: should i have done deeper? -- dug deeper? yes. i made a mistake. i am sorry for that. andy: deep in the packet and page 16, it should be noted on page 17 that builders failed to list their $1.78 million in town bank loans and the city staff failed to call them out on it. mayor sessoms: llc did not

period. andy: it would have raised red flags for sessoms and he would have abstained from voting had he known. mayor sessoms: the prosecutors stating i did not do one thing for personal gain or the gain of my employees. andy: sessoms feels tremendous loss by what happened professionally, politically, financially. and to anyone who thinks he got off easy, he says -- mayor sessoms: they were not in my shoes for 14 months. andy: the question that is unknown at this time, willy run for reelection or is this how it all ends? mayor sessoms: i promise you one thing, if i run, i will win. i will work 24/7 to make sure that happens. andy: now, here is what we know based on that statement right there. if he runs again, you will know that he has information showing

it was heavy into greenacres, right now, it is not as bad. we look at more rainfall going on a little further northward into surrey county. we did see my reign over smithfield -- we did see moderate rain over smithfield. right now it is into northern southampton county. from the south side, things are not as bad right now. we have some breaks in the rainfall. is not nearly as heavy in a lot of areas. it will fill back in this moves northward. we will continue to see rainfall over the night hours. we will see scattered showers into friday morning. he was the rainfall over the past 24 hours. you can see the rainfall moving in. we have some breaks in the rainfall earlier. here is where things are by 9:00 p.m.

by 2:00 a.m., we have a north-northwesterly wind. that invites cooler air and some drier air. that is real good news there. that think about it is between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., there are one or two forecast models hinting at a little bit of snow here, and a little bit more way up. they could see one inch of snow fall in here. we will talk about that more as we finish this out. during the noon hours, a few clouds. by 3:00, 46 for a high. lighter winds through the day. 45 for a high temperature on saturday. now we talk about what we get. all rainfall here. a few flakes of snow that do not stick. at times over the peninsula,

some flakes of snow, but the ground is so wet and temperatures will be around 36 accumulate. there can be a little accumulation. we end up with nothing on the ground quite likely into our part of the world. we are looking pretty good. this is not looking too good. 43, 45, 49, 43, 46 degrees. here is what we have overnight. again, there could be a flake or two of snow early with isolated degrees. 45 for our high temperature tomorrow. it will be better tomorrow finally after 36 hours of rain. it will come to an end early in the day tomorrow. temperatures after that in the 40's into next week. bruce: a localizable the ball coach is moving to georgia, where he has a big challenge, paycheck.

sunday while driving a sand-rail all-terrain vehicle during his vacation. he jumped a dune and landed wrong. he was wearing a harness and a helmet, but when you are 45 years old, when you land the wrong way, things break. now he will have to begin his final season as a driver on the sidelines, missing the 500 and some early season races, but eventually, he is expected to be ok. as we reported last night, richard morgan, the longtime football coach, is going to georgia to turn a once powerhouse football program around. he will reportedly be paid $111,000 a year. that is certainly a big pay raise for what he is making as a chesapeake schoolteacher and coach right now. last night, he told us about the move. >> i have been there forever it
