parked along the street. a few buildings were also hit at the same time. the area is also being examined for gas leaks. some buildings in the area have been evacuated. investigators are still working to find out what caused the collapse. the search continues for a shooting suspect in virginia beach. officers are still searching for 20- year-old devante williams. they say he shot his mother yesterday on kitimal drive. they are on the look-out for a 20-14 red toyota camry he may be driving. it has a virginia license plate that reads "prosper". 10 on your side also spoke with his family. they say williams mother is doing better, and his father does not know why the shooting happened. call the crime line if you have any information that could help police find williams. new at midday - police need your help. they say a woman treid to rob a 7- eleven in hampton. it happened last night around 11:15 on east little back river road. police say this woman went into the convenience store - implied she had a weapon and demanded

a customer entered the store shortly after - out without any money. new video this midday virginia beach. police say it happened skinny dip frozen yogurt at the shopping center. the suspect you see in the video went in the store - demanded money and implied he had a weapon. if you have any information on this robbery or the attempted robbery in hampton, call the crime line. we're learning more about the death of 13-year-old nicole lovell. during yesterday's bail hearing for 19- year-old suspect natalie keepers, prosecutors said she "wanted to be a part of something secret and special." they say she was involved in the plans to kill lovell, along with 18-year-old david eisenhaur, right from the beginning. prosecutors say the pair planned to take nicole, thinking she was going out on a date, and helping to hide nicole's body. eisenhaur is charged with abduction and

meanwhile in blacksburg, nicole lovell's family said their last goodbyes. hundreds of people her funeral yesterday. at least a dozen police cars escorted her body from the funeral home to her final resting spot. a house committee stopped a bill which would limit the personal use of campaign funds by virginia politicians. the gop-controlled panel wants to wait for a vote on the issue until next year. this was a top ethics priority for democratic governor terry mcauliffe. virginia has one of the least restrictive campaign finance systems in the country. lawmakers are only barred from using campaign funds for personal use when they close out their accounts. north carolina's march 15 primary and the november general election are taking shape as candidates say how much money they've raised. in the u.s. senate races, republican incumbent richard burr and democrat deborah ross raised the most money in the fourth quarter of 2015. in the governor's race,

incumbent pat mccrory in the second half of 2015 and both have more cash than primary opponents. virginia's republican- controlled house has approved a bill that would allow members of the national guard to carry concealed handguns while on duty. members will be required to have a valid permit to carry concealed handguns at guard facilities, like recruiting centers. virginia beach republican scott taylor introduced the bill in response to last year's deadly shooting a military recruiting center in chattanooga, tennessee. the house unanimously approved the bill on thursday. it now heads to the senate. north carolina's commerce secretary says rural and small-town economies won't grow without access to high-speed internet. he talked about the need for broadband internet across the state thursday while committee looking at economic development ideas to consider when the general assembly resumes in crowdfunding legislation was pitched so small businesses can get

mccrory's administration wants to use a portion of unclaimed money held by the state treasurer to invest in emerging businesses. the committee also discussed a commerce department proposal to retool how the state ranks the levels of economic distress in north carolina's 100 counties. the obama administration says more than 610-thousand people in north carolina signed up insurance coverage during the third year of president obama's federal health care law. 460-thousand north carolinans bought insurance policies as of last june. experts say the increase may be because of more drastic fines for staying uninsured. january unemployment figures are out this morning -- and the report shows that solid job growth continues. people continue to worry another u-s recession is around the corner within the next two years. but, hiring continues for employers. analysts forecast employers added 200- thousand jobs last month. the unemployment rate has

it's national wear red day! the american heart association wants everyone to wear red today in support of the fight against heart disease. even newborns are joining in. they will be donning red hats at bon secours depaul medical norfolk. this day is especially important for women. just listen to these statistics in a video from the american heart association. :00 - :06 "heart disease is the number one killer of women." no threat to the community. the c-e-o of a georgia hospital is one of six people facing charges after a prescription drug sting. federal agents arrested mike gowder-- the c-e-o of union general hospital in union county -- which is along the north carolina border -- wednesday. gowder is facing multiple prescription drug charges his arrest comes after a nine-month- long, multi-state investigation. officials say prescription drug abuse is a growing problem across georgia. (clyde shelley/dea agent) "two million people each year start their drug abuse with painkillers. many heroin addicts start off becoming addicts for their abuse with prescription drugs." five others were arrested including two doctors. police say doctor james heaton- wrote more than 15-thousand fraudulent prescriptions for painkillers over a three-year period. four of gowder's family members were also among

band he founded kept performing. a fiery crash last night involved a wake forest university shuttle bus and car. the accident happened on campus. both vehicles caught fire after the crash. no one was hurt. police are investigating the crash. a washington state man is recovering after a dangerous rescue caught on camera. crews hoisted him off the side of a dam after he spent days stuck on a mountain. in the video you can see the responders balancing on the side of a helicopter above ground. the rescuer is hoisted down the side of the steep dam to the stranded man below. visitors to the area say they first heard screams from the man 5 days ago. the 41-year old man is homeless -- he jumped a fence and planned to set up camp there. but later realized -- he couldn't get out. year approaches, taiwanese shoppers are busy preparing. this is the year of the monkey. a team of five u-s experts are in somalia to help with the investigation into what caused that mid-flight blast. the blast ripped a hole into the side of a passenger plane shortly after takeoff from the capital city of mogudishu. if it was a bomb, crucial questions include who got it onto the plane and how. nbc's keir simmons has the new information. the force that ripped open this aircraft cabin was likely a bomb, made of military grade explosives, multiple sources tell nbc news. a newspaper report of a suicide bomber in a wheelchair may not be accurate, according to a somali aviation official who says they're awaiting test results. passengers on a jet that was preparing to leave madrid for saudi arabia has been evacuated after the pilot reported an unspecified threat. a spokeswoman for spain's airport authority says the saudi arabian airlines jet taxied to a remote part of madrid's airport today after the threat was reported. everyone made it off the plane safely. the spokeswoman didn't have further details about the nature of the threat, but madrid's airport was briefly placed on a high-level safety alert by law enforcement officials. haiti's president announced a plan yesterday to leave office in three days - even though his replacement has not been picked. protesters burned tires and clashed with police in the island nation's capital after the announcement. martelly announced his departure plan at an event to inaugurate a new department of interior headquarters built after the january 2010 earthquake. haiti's constitution requires martelly to leave office this

choose the next president were cancelled last month when the opposition candidate threatened to boycott the vote and protests turned violent. panama's health authorities have confirmed that as of yesterday 50 people have been infected by the zika virus. panama's ministry of health along with local government is conducting an aggressive campaign to contain the spread of the virus. blood samples are now routinely taken from peopleto a facility in panama city to be analyzed. the director of the institute warned that there are probably many more people with the virus, but since they displayed no symptoms, or the symptoms were mild, they saw no need to visit a doctor. the tiny south pacific kingdom of tonga is also battling the zika virus. country officials say five people are positive for the virus - while another 265 people may have it. the world health organization this week declared the zika virus a global emergency. the 67th annual snow festival in japan opened today to thousands of
