children dead. police say takiara lewis-white was at the wheel in september with three kids in the car when state police tried to pull her over on 2-64. investigative reporter chris horne is live in portsmouth with more on what's next for lewis-white. the charges against lewis-white were nolle prossed - that means they were withdrawn at least for the time being. this portsmouth case is now in the hands of the suffolk commonwealth's attorney phil ferguson. ferguson was appointed special prosecutor, because one of the prosecutors in portsmouth had prior involvement in the case before he was hired. lewis-white had faced charges of second degree murder, felony child neglect and several traffic violations following the deadly september crash. a state trooper gave preliminary hearing about 8- year-old destiny wilson, and 5-year-old shawnta wilson. lewis-white was watching

for a friend. they were in the back seat - without seatbelts - when lewis-white was speeding and went off the road at the greenwood drive exit. her suv flipped and ended up near some trees. the two wilson girls were dead at the scene. lewis-white's own son was in a car seat and he survived the crash. i spoke this afternoon with special prosecutor phil ferguson. he says his office will look at all the evidence in the case - essentially start from scratch. lewis-white could end up with a murder charge all over again, or not. ferguson says he has learned from previous cases not to predict any kind of schedule about what his office will decide

first time. the victim was attacked in her own portsmouth home. 6 months later police are yet to make an arrest. she talked only to 10 on your side's jason marks. jason --- how is she doing? she was stabbed almost a dozen times. the worst as you will see was in her throat. an artery was punched and doctors say she is lucky to be alive. tashaye was stabbed august 17 at her apartment in the village of western branch on churchland boulevard. she asked us to only use her first name. she says she walked though her front door and someone was standing there holding a knife. she was able to break free and get help. tashaye spent 13 days in the hospital. as she still recovers she wonders if the person responsible will ever be arrested. 01=7:46 "i know i do at least want to know why he did it considering he didn't try to do anything else. he didn't say anything and he didn't go through with actually killing me" when we first reported the story in august police told us there was also a

we expect to learn more we expect to learn more next week about officer body cameras for the elizabeth city police department. there's a news conference on wednesday. the department says it will discuss the body camera policy, as well as plans to purchase and deploy them. there are growing concerns as the zika virus continues to spread. u.s. senators mark warner and tim kaine of virginia are urging president obama to ensure that the federal government is working with local and state develop strategies for protecting virginians from the threat. they are asking the president to devote more funding to the emerging pandemic threats program to enhance efforts to control outbreaks, counter the spread , and prevent transmission. the senators are also asking u.s. customs and border protection to immediately review whether inspections procedures at major points of entry from south america and other affected areas need to be revised in order to respond to the zika virus. they are also directing the department of health and human services and

crane collapsed onto a manhattan street. one person died --- three others are hurt. the victim was walking on the sidewalk when part of the crane toppled onto him. video from the scene shows the crane upside down and resting on the top of several cars in the tribeca neighborhood. several nearby buildings also have damage. the crane was being lowered into a secure position because of high winds when it fell. they mayor expects the area to be shut down for a few days. detectives continue to investigate a gruesome scene in chicago. two women, two men and two children were found dead thursday in a home on the city's south side. police say they appear to be members of the same family. all the victims died of blunt force trauma. investigators say the home's doors were locked. there was no sign of a break-in. chicago police say the case appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community. police in florida are investigating a shocking crime. they say an eight-year-old boy with a

takiara lewis-white was behind the wheel on 2-64 in portsmouth. she rolled her suv with a total of three kids in the car. investigative reporter chris horne has more on what's next for the woman who had been charged with second degree murder. the charges including murder, felony child neglect and eluding police were all nolle prossed, because a new prosecutor has taken over the case. takiara lewis white is out of jail for now, but could very well be charged again. this was 20 year old takiara lewis-white appearing in portsmouth shortly after the deadly september crash. she was charged with second degree murder in the deaths of these two little girls -destiny wilson, 8 and her 5-year-old sister shawnta. lewis white had been watching the girls that day for a friend. but that murder charge and other felonies

now been withdrawn. the commonwealth's attorney in suffolk has taken that action after he was appointed special prosecutor in the case. commonwealth's attorney phil ferguson told me this afternoon he just got the case within the past week and needs more time to review all the evidence. back in september, a state trooper broke down on the stand recalling the case during lewis-white's preliminary hearing. he described how the wilson girls did not have seatbelts, and how he gave one of them cpr, but both had died at the scene. the trooper's dash cam video showed lewis- white's car going by at high speed, estimated as high as 120. lewis-white tried to take the greenwood drive exit, but she ended up flipping her suv, ending up in some trees. the suffolk commonwealth's attorney says he can't predict what his office will decide or when. his staff will re-examine the entire case. now that the
