a bit heavier as a makes its way through the region. 3:00 in the afternoon, scattered snowfalls, even more moderate. it might be heavier across eastern north carolina. chances are, near that mixed, going to be heavy snowfall. by 9:00, it is moving away. by the midnight hour, we will start to see a little bit of a breeze friday night at midnight. the wind will pick up coming up on saturday. is cold. only in the 30's.

the snow that does fall tomorrow , 1-2 inches for most of us, will likely stick. when the temperatures drop, the wind rises. that snow is going to stick around through the weekend. a lot more detail. i will show teeth coming up in a few minutes. >> weather information is never far away. radar, forecasts, always available on your smartphone or tablet with the wavy weather app. >> a 14-year-old girl is in trouble after authorities say she attacked her school bus driver in hampton. we are it happened on the bus headed to simms middle school. >> we tried to talk to a lot of neighbors and community. most said they didn't know what happened, but some said they were surprised to see police vehicles next way school bus with students getting off that bus.

viewer shows the scene on grimes road thursday morning. around 8:30, police say a 13-year-old girl assaulted a 59-year-old school bus driver. the driver went to the hospital but was expected to recover. a neighbor didn't know what was going on. >> a police car outside of my van here. the bus in the middle-of-the-road. the fire truck was behind my van over here. erin: police say they are still investigating the case. they charge the integrator with assault and battery and released her. she was not hurt. the hampton school division says the bus had about the students on board and was headed to simms middle school, but stopped when the incident happened. the school department issued a statement saying, "that the student's behavior was unacceptable." the school division says there is video from the bus, but they won't be releasing it because of a privacy act.

we are not sure exactly how that bus driver is doing, but again, police had said that she was expected to recover. >> this is the second time this week we reported on a school bus driver hurt by interaction with students. monday, we told you about a portsmouth driver heard while breaking up a fight. team coverage continues of the upcoming snow. >> liz, what are crews doing to get ready? liz: i write here at virginia public works. you can see the trucks behind me. they are in place. crews have their assignments. i understand about eight trucks, two in each snow zone will be out tomorrow, treating the roads before focusing on those bridges and overpasses. vdot crews started treating the

they do expect to focus mainly on the south side because of how this weather is looking at this point. we are going to be monitoring the road services and pavement conditions, and preparing for how this snow could affect the evening commute tomorrow. ntsb also -- nctsb also treating the roads in north carolina. we have been checking in with counties and it seems like everyone is watching the weather , waiting to see what happens. live in virginia beach, liz palka. >> a woman's family is looking for answers. a dog, adopted just weeks ago, attacked her and killed her yesterday. when she went to clean out the cage, a bit her neck. she died on the way to the hospital. the family adopted the pit bull from a virginia beach family but

at the same time, talking about the three legs of the school. community, agriculture, and tourism. tom: sessoms also told andy fox that his decision whether to run for mayor will start next week. we just got these photos from the suffolk recycling facility. you can see, a pretty big fire there. fire officials tell us they got the scrap metal fire under control about 4:00 this afternoon. it didn't cause damage to any buildings. nicole: some teens think it is cool. >> i see on people's snapchat stories, like, i can make these circles in the air. nicole: doctors warned, smoking he seeks could be hazard -- smoking e-cigs could be hazardous to their health.

tom: --nicole: a dr. is working on a plan to reverse the risky trend. concerns over a six. >> just as kids felt the pressure to smoke cigarettes decades ago, they are now feeling the same pressure to vape. some feel these e-cigs have helped stop and smoking real cigarettes, but doctors say they are not harmless. teens are putting their health at risk. as an inspiring young singer, kurt is keen on protecting his pipes. >> classrooms, pe, behind the bleachers. >> some of the teachers don't care. >> e-cigarette use among teens is rising, in part because they say they are safer than real cigarettes. the health risk of e-cigs are still greatly unknown, but the

pictures shared on social media make it look cool. there even videos to teach teens how to make paper designs. >> today is tuesday and we are going to learn how to do the dragon. >> advertisers use themes like sex and independence. many doctors fear unrestricted ads can reverse decades of progress against tobacco use. >> the ones that are most advertised are owned by tobacco companies. >> dr. kelly england-will recently received a large grant. while her work has just begun, a recent cdc report shows that nationwide, 70% of high school students see e-cig ads, and use

the forecast. these are the two main events we're going to be covering. of that number one is snow. around noon through around 7:00 tomorrow evening. i will show you where the bulk of that snow is going to be arriving. event to -- event 2 is really the entire weekend. wind-chills will bottom out to near zero. event 1 and event 2 are really connected because the -- because we will have snow on the ground and likely on the streets. it looks like the snow will hang in through the weekend as temperatures will be below freezing all weekend. future trak -- computer model snow coming up for friday. friday morning, clouds moving pretty rapidly, and so does the snow. maybe early afternoon hours into the region. by 2:00, some solid snowfall. you will note that right through

that could create some very heavy snow, especially toward the edenton area. still going on into the hampton roads cities and on into the eastern shore. it is lightening up pretty much everyone through 7:00 in the evening. it will be quick but will be likely to get some snow out of it. even in parts of the peninsula, 1-2 inches, 2-3. even some of these 4 inch amounts. snow bursts, where you may see some heavier snowfall. the bulk of the population, right on into here, one inch to

that is point number one. .2 -- point 2 is that we will see some really cold air into the region. saturday morning, 7:00. wind-chill is in the blue color. temperatures basically around 30, 31, 32 during the day. the wind-chills going to remain in the teens during the day on saturday. colder then asked coming up for sunday. 36 degrees, in the chesapeake bay right now. that is what we have going on with the temperatures. it is a perfect setup for the fact that we are going to get some snowfall during the day tomorrow. that's snowfall will have cold ground upon which to fall and stay. around 31 degrees early evening.
