slaton now faces a second degree murder charge. state police found the decomposing remains of slaton's son quincy in her trunk when they pulled her over in june. quincy had been missing for 10 years. last month the medical examiner's office said they could not determine a cause of death. developing news in norfolk. police are questioning a suspect in an attempted bank robbery. detectives say a man pulled up to the drive-thru teller window at the sun trust on west little creek road around 8:55 this morning. investigators say he gave the teller a note demanding money. the note also said there was a bomb inside the bank. officers showed up five minutes later and arrested the suspect. no one was hurt. officers shut down part of west little creek road so the bomb squad could make sure everything was okay in the bank. when police file charges --- they will release the suspect's name and mugshot. new at 4. firefighters in norfolk say no one was hurt when an apartment caught fire today. they sent us these pictures of their response on victory drive in the wards corner area. around one this afternoon, they say

coming from the apartment and called them in. they say the fire was coming from the kitchen and spreading quickly. no one was home. they were not ready to tell us about a cause. portsmouth police are looking for two home invasion suspects. police say two men forced their way into a home on median circle around midnight. officers say they got into a fight with one of the residents. another resident, a 15-year-old boy, was hurt but should be okay. right now, detectives say they do not have a good description of the suspects. call the crime line if you know anything. new information in a meth lab bust in newport news. a woman is now behind bars facing charges. police say they found items believed to be used to manufacture meth on sunday on middlesex road. 28-year-old autumn wells is charged with manufacturing meth and possessing heroin. the tyrrell county sheriff's office says the alligator river bridge in north carolina is closed after today's high winds blew a trailer over the side. it happened around 10 this morning on the dare county side during a severe thunderstorm.

uncovered new information about a crash in portsmouth early this morning. we first told you on wavy news 10 today about a car that went off the western freeway at cedar lane. first responders found two people badly injured inside. but we've learned...police may have stumbled on a criminal investigation. 10 on your side's lex gray has been digging into this story today. lex - what did you find out. anita and stephanie -- i've been working today to confirm what two sources tells us... that in that car -- portsmouth police found about 150 credit cards with different they also apparently found a machine used to melt credit cards down -- and print them with new information. this is video from the crash this morning. portsmouth police will confirm the man and woman inside are badly injured. they had to cut them out of the camaro. we went to the impound lot to see what it looks like now. detective misty holley with portsmouth police says they're still investigating what caused the crash. i asked her information...she says except for the victims, she can't talk about what was or

run away from police. an officer pulled out his gun. sanchez eventually gave up. a judge sentenced sanchez to 15 years in prison for the chase. police just released this footage during a ceremony to honor two people who helped troopers when sanchez tried to run. police in california are getting help identifying a home invasion suspect from the suspect himself. that's because detectives say he left his cellphone charging at the scene of the crime. after coming home from work, the victim says he came face-to-face with a stranger holding a gun! the homeowner ran to his bedroom, locked the door and called 9-1-1. (no super) carlos / home invasion victim "looking into his eyes, it's like looking into the eyes of the devil," "even though i got away and got into the room, but for those few seconds, my life flashed before my eyes." once the gunman was gone --- the homeowner came out and saw the suspect's phone charging on the kitchen counter! police say the thief also left behind a

hot-dogs from the victim's fridge to keep the homeowner's pet pitbull from attacking. detectives say the phone is full of selfies. so it won't be long before they track the suspect down. police are investigating why a garbage truck tumbled 100-feet off a highway bridge in miami. the truck was driving off an exit ramp on southbound interstate 95 yesterday when it fell over. the driver has serious injuries. the crash damaged two other vehicles. a nearby park also has damage. investigators are working to figure out why an 18-wheeler hauling oil suddenly exploded. the blast sparked a fire at a texas oil facility. 3 people were hurt. people could see smoke from the fire several miles away. crews let the flames burn out on their own. a teenage basketball player is recovering from a freak accident on the court. the wisconsin teen was partially impaled by a splintered floorboard.
