31 year old michael dana chandonnet both face a number of charges including manufacturing last night, investigators say they were following up on the first meth lab bust on middlesex road, just off warwick boulevard, when evidence there led them to the second location across the street -- the apparent home of adkins and chandonnet. undercover agents say they discovered materials used for making meth in a first-floor apartment just before seven last night the hidenwood apartments. police found a man, women, and a 13- year-old boy inside the home. officers evacuated that apartment and several other homes. while officers were investigating, police say a vehicle connected to the home pulled up, but immediately drove off. investigators followed that vehicle to oyster point road and nettles drive and stopped it. police found two women, a man, and a 4-year-old girl inside the car and questioned them. adkins and chandonnet were both in the car. they are now in the newport news city jail. police say

mother of the 13 and four year olds. officers handed the children over to a family friend. officers also charged a woman for sunday's bust. 28-year-old autumn wells faces charges for making meth and possesing heroin. officers say they found evidence inside the home on middlesex road and in a vehicle parked outside. she's now in the newport news city jail. police in hampton were busy this morning investigating a suspicioius substance in a trash can. police got called out to cynthia drive near todds lane around 1:45 this morning. when officers got there, they found the unknown substance outside the house. the hazmat team took the substance to be tested so they can find out what it is. police haven't arrested anybody. as soon as we find out from police what the substance is, we'll let you know on air and on wavy dot com. new at midday -- police in norfolk are trying to figure out who shot at people in a car

a parked car on piccadilly street near norview elementary around 8:25 last night. that's the car and started shooting. the men drove away to the norview recreation center and called 9-1-1. the driver was hurt by the glass that shattered from the bullet hitting the window, but paramedics treated him at the scene. nobody any bullets. suspect descriptions, but if you know anything about what happened, call crime

we can now show you a picture of the man who police say tried to rob a bank in norfolk yesterday morning. this is james crowder. he is charged with attempted robbery and threatening to bomb the suntrust bank on west little creek road near granby street yesterday. police say crowder rolled up to the drive thru teller window, and gave the teller a note demanding money. the note also said there was a bomb in the bank. police arrested crowder without any problems about five minutes later. police closed off west little creek road for awhile so the bomb squad could make sure there wasn't a bomb in the bank. crowder is currently in the norfolk city jail. a 23-year-old man is recovering after someone

newport news. investigators say the victim walked into riverside regional medical center around 2:00 in the morning. he told detectives the stabbing happened several blocks away on jefferson avenue near oyster point road. police say the victim was drunk when they tried to talk to him, so he wasn't able to give them any suspect information. call the crime line if you know anything. york county deputies need your help to find the person they say tried to break into a thrift store. deputies say it happened back in january at the bargain box on dare road in yorktown. the suspect didn't take anything. in this surviellence picture, you can only see the suspect's back. but if you recognize anything, call the crime line. after a police chase, two car crashes, and the lockdown of an elementary school, portsmouth police arrested a fugitive facing a long list of charges officers say 21-year-old

outstanding warrants even before they say he tried to run from them yesterday afternoon. police tried to pull over the silver ford focus harper was in, but he drove off and crashed into two cars, including an unmarked police cruiser. luckily, no one was seriously hurt. after the second crash, police say harper and a passenger in the car ran off. officers put douglas park elementary and portsmouth christian school on lockdown while they searched for the suspects. they later found harper, but the second person who ran is still on the loose this midday. newport news police want your help to catch a man suspected in a double murder. officers are looking for 26-year-old stephen hayes. they believe he and another man shot and killed two people last month on 14th street near wickham avenue. investigators already arrested 33- year-old laratio dantzler for the shooting. officers shot him at the scene after they say he refused to cooperate. he went to the hospital for treatment and is now in police custody.

find hayes, call the crime line at 1-888-lock-u-up. you can remain anonymous, and you could get a reward. a woman now faces a murder charge in her son's death. prosecutors in hampton say they upgraded their case against tonya slaton, from concealing a body to second- degree murder. virginia state police say troopers found the remains of quincy davis in her car last june, when troopers pulled her over on i- 64. police tell us davis attended school in virginia beach, but no one had seen or heard from him since 2004. slaton is due in court next week. congressman bobby scott will focus on making veterans and drug court programs successful. he'll hold a round table discussion in hampton to discuss how to implement similar programs across the country. the goal is to reduce crime, save money, and improve public safety. he'll meet with city leaders this afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 at hampton city

a follow-up on a local school district's calendar. the virginia beach school board voted to remove some teaching days. instead of 183 school days, next year will have 181. the board says that will include two- and-a-half days of professional development for students and staff. supporters believed it would help the entire system run more smoothly. opponents said it would hurt hourly workers. a 92-year-old wisconsin man is accused of sexually assaulting two girls two decades ago. jury selection began yesterday for the trial of edward heckendorf. he faces five felony charges of sexual assault of a child under 13.

crimes happened between 19-83 and 19-94. court records show prosecutors offered heckendorf a plea deal before the trial, but he declined. the trial resumes today with witnesses on the stand. a nevada rancher and anti-government activist is still in jail in oregon. a judge denied cliven bundy bail. the judge says he made that decision because he believes bundy may try to run away before the trial. bundy faces charges of consipiracy for a standoff with federal officials in nevada two years ago. he led about 400 armed supporters in a face-off over grazing rights on federal land. federal officials eventually backed off. but, they got their chance to arrest him in oregon last week. bundy flew there to support his sons who lead a standoff at a wildlife refuge there. cliven bundy

"music" a high school orchestra provided some entertainment for stranded travelers at a washington dc airport. the group of 60 students were supposed to fly home to utah monday after performing at the kennedy center. but a blast of snow and ice cancelled their flight. since they had no hotel to stay in, the kids decided to pass the time by giving other travelers a free show right in the terminal.
