portsmouth police officially have a new chief. tanya chapman was officially sworn in to start her new job as head of the city's first african-american woman to hold the position. 10 on your side's jason marks was there for chief chapman's ceremony. jason? chief chapman says today was a dream come true. a day she has dreamed about for 27 years when she began her career in law enforcement. chapman was serving as the commonwealth's deputy secretary of public safety and homeland security. before that she spent time with the both the arlington and richmond

robbed a gas station this morning. police say a man walked into the valero gas station on york street near williamsburg around 7:15. he went to the clerk, pulled out a gun, and demanded money. after he got some cash, he ran away. york county deputies took a man into custody during a traffic stop. police say someone saw the car leaving the area of the robbery. police think the man is connected to incidents in york, gloucester, and poquoson as well. if any charges are filed, we'll let you know. now to decision 20-16 news. coming off the south carolina republican and nevada's democratic causus, the presidential candidates are looking ahead to super tuesday. next week, voters in 13 states, including virginia, will head to the polls. it's a close race and many of the front- runners have their campaigns focused on hampton roads. tomorrow senator bernie sanders is scheduled to hold a rally at the scope cruz will both visit university in virginia

we're working to learn more about breaking news in norfolk police say a vehicle ran into the soap n suds at 5-points. that's the business on chesapeake boulevard. we're told someone was hurt - but should be ok. we'll bring you more information as it becomes available. we are working to learn more about a shooting spree in michigan over the weekend. police in kalamazoo say 45-year-old jason dalton killed six people and hurt two more over the course of seven hours, saturday. five people were shot in the parking lot of a cracker barrel. four of them died, and a 14-year-old girl was thought to be dead, but harvest her organs. 2 more people

allegedly shot them at a car dealership. investigators say dalton targeted all of his victims randomly. investigators say dalton killed those people while he was at work. dalton is an uber driver and picked up customers during the entire seven hour spree. a couple from indianapolis got in his car the night of the shooting. they say they got an uber after hearing a shooter was on the loose, thinking it would be their safest option. the couple talked with dalton during the ride, and even mentioned the shootings to him. they asked him a chilling him and said...you are not the shooter are you? and he said no...and i said are you sure...and he said no...i'm just really tired. looking back it was a weird way to respond." police say they found a gun in dalton's uber car and they believe he used that weapon during his spree. eleven people are hurt after the tour bus they were riding on crashed into a bridge in australia. paramedics took the bus
