three meth lab busts in under a week. newport news police arrested four people in connection to the operations found on middlesex road and sydney place now officials want to warn the public about the risks and dangers -- and help people spot these crimes. 10 on your side's liz kilmer spoke to fire crews about the recent discoveries. officials didn't want to talk about the specifics

but wanted to instead warn folks about these potentially-deadly operations. behind me on middlesex road is one of the now-condemned properties where meth was allegedly cooked - creating a risk to not only those inside, but community members. what may look like a quiet home or apartment - could be harboring a toxic, illegal operation. that was the startling discovery - in newport news last week - when police busted three apparent meth labs. c19 03:15:19 chief pincus "it really sends off some alarm bells for us." c19 03:28:13 "every year it goes up, the labs aren't going down, they're going up." an upward trend posing a risk to not only meth producers and users - but law enforcement and nearby community members. c20 03:40:10 "these chemicals can be highly volatile." toxic, flammable and explosive. the chemicals used to make meth can cause serious health problems - even death - if touched or inhaled. a concern for first-responders - who don't always know what they're walking into. c20 03:40:35 "the amount of air we introduce as we enter can be enough to cause an explosion and

otis, for manufacturing and possessing meth. this related to a bust made on west 27th street, yesterday. a high-speed car chase comes to a crashing end in oklahoma. police tried to pull over this gray car on interstate 40 - but the driver took off. about 10 minutes into the pursuit, the driver goes off-road, barrels through a fence, and crashes into trees and a ditch. you see the scene as nearly a dozen officers surrounded the vehicle with guns drawn. they were able to take the driver into custody. police say they found multiple weapons in the vehicle. tonight, alabama police are investigating a murder that appears to be linked to a stolen cell phone. police say the gunman shot and killed the 23-year-old he says, stole his phone. it happened last night in fairfield, which is just southwest of birmingham. the victim told police, he found the alleged thief by using a tracking app. the director of the f-b-i made his first public comments on apple's refusal to give them access to cell phones used by the san
