breaking news this midday, police in norfolk detained a teen, after they found a gun inside granby high school. someone told officers a student inside a classroom had a concealed gun. police quickly responded and found the 17-year-old. officers recovered the gun and no one got hurt. investigators say charges are pending. we're working to learn what

new at midday the trial date for a mother accused of killing her son and carrying his body in the trunk of her car has been set. tonya slaton is scheduled to have a four-day jury trial in september. she was in court today for an arraignment on the second degree murder charge. 10 on your side's brandi cummings was there and joins us now live from hampton. this morning's hearing was the first time we've seen tonya slaton since we've began covered this story last year. this was also the first time we've heard from the attorney's who will be involved in the trial. slaton made a first appearance inside a hampton circuit court room on charges of second degree murder in the death of her son quincy davis. virginia state police say troopers found quincy's body in the trunk of slaton's car during a traffic stop last june. online court records show his mother - tonya slaton was indicted for her son's murder on february first. the deputy commonwealth's attorney who is prosecuting the case says they pursued the murder charged after a
