goes out to those who have lost loved ones. already the damages in the millions. >> flying in the helicopter, you can see for miles and miles. erin: the images from chopper 10 show the devastation caused by hr tornado that hit waverly wednesday. on thursday, governor terry mcauliffe met with victims and tour the area where three people died. >> there was a gentleman that a truck fell on top of just up ahead of us. erin: the man in the truck was william brown, who tried to get ahead of the storm. >> it hit me from the back. i did not see it. i could not get out. i finally wedged my way out and i did not know where to go. i went across the street. erin: across the street, reminders of the life the family had from before the storm. >> we saw the devastation.

newport news spends roughly $1.1 million on gang prevention each year. >> if you do not know you can be better, you walk around thinking this is all life has to offer me and it's not. joe: the youth and gang prevention office aims to get young adults involved in positive activities. teens are at risk, observing crimes like -- >> talk to their friends. talk to their friends' parents. be involved in the life of your child. joe: the cycle can stop, she says. it's about education and kids learning not only from adults, but their peers. >> in all honesty -- [indiscernible]
