omg total shock just tyring to get out of there you know and get help there was a guy down and he needed help we're following another big story out of kansas -- we are learning more about the person police say opened fire on his co-workers -- killing four and hurting more than a dozen others. authorities say cedric ford had been served with a protection from abuse order -- just a short time before the shootings started. investigators believe that is what likely set him off. ford shot two people while driving from newton kansas -- to the excel industries plant in hesston -- about ten miles away. he shot someone in the parking lot -- before going inside -- where he opened fire -- shooting another 14 people. killing three of them. it was hesston's own police chief who finally brought ford down. he's being hailed a hero -- for possibly saving hundreds of lives. it's only been seven months. it's just like we're reliving this whole thing, all over again. reporter: beaty was shot by officer randy gibson after he pointed a sawed-off shotgun at police. the commonwealth attorney ruled the shooting was justified. >> i hope somebody do the same thing they done to my son! and i will be a witness to that! reporter: for the family, there was anger, yet sadness. they believe in this case beaty was wronged of his life. but the common wealth attorney says evidence painted a different story. >> the officers perceived a threat. reporter: gibson shot beaty in the head. this is the second time the officer has been cleared in a shooting. the first one happened in 2012 and left a man paralyzed. we ask if that's concerning. >> you may find yourself involved in five shootings. if each one of those shootings, you find yourself in a situation where you had to do what you had to do, then that's justified. i don't find it troubling at all. reporter: since the scene last july, gibson hasn't been on the streets.
