questioning whether the principal should also be on norfolk city council-- or vice versa. this all started months ago-- after complaints were made because an 11 year old didn't get home on time from the school bus. there are many sides to this. and 10 on your side's brandi cummings has one no one has heard yet-- from the superintendent. brandi? tom, nicole- the parent-- who's also a community activist-- says he wants tommy smigiel to resign. not because his child got home late...but because of what happened after that. tonight 10 on your side has learned the norfolk school division is investigating. this story began last the academy for discovery at lakewood. he went to school, but muhammed says he couldn't get answers from anyone including school princial and norfolk city councilmember tommy smigiel. sot - michael muhammad, parent - clip 9 1:05:00 he told me several times to get out of his called but by the time they arrived he'd found out that his son

-- i did ask one of cruz's strong supporters what he thinks it will take for cruz to be victorious on super tuesday. he said, "good people are going to have to wake up." cruz, saying he thinks it will be a two man race after tuesday. between him and trump. liz palka, 10 on your side. we have at least three other presidential candidates stopping in hampton roads this weekend. marco rubio will hold a rally at the virginia beach convention center on sunday. democrat hillary clinton will be campaigning in the area on monday. and republican doctor ben carson will be at regent on monday. primary day is tuesday in virginia. and-- a surprise endorsement ahead of super tuesday from chris christie. the new jersey governor and former presidential candidate endorsed donald trump ahead of a rally in texas. trump had previously dismissed the importance of endorsements, but said he felt very strongly about christie's backing. the view from chopper 10

today-- we were able to fly drone 10 into the destruction from wednesday tornado in waverly. it's a medium perspective of sorts. the drone was able to fly closer to homes torn apart by the twister that took three lives. the cleanup effort-- which will take months-- is well underway-- and help is coming in from all directions. erin kelly will have more on that shortly. what they really need to get an upper hand on the process is a nice weekend. chief meteorologist don slater joins us with a look at what to expect. don? tonight, expect mainly clear skies and lighter winds, so as a result, into the upper-20s. a chilly start will give way to a chilly afternoon on saturday. even though we'll have plenty of sunshine, highs will be stuck in the mid to

don't forget to take the wavy weather app with you to track the weekend temperatures hour by hour. another big fire in norfolk's ocean view neighborhood. in this case-- a woman lost her life. the two-story duplex caught fire around 2 a-m on kingston avenue. we're told a woman and two children jumped from a second story window. firefighters pulled an elderly woman through a window-- but she didn't make it.

her name yet. a couple living on the first story made it out okay with minor burns. 01:06:01 "i yelled to my husband that the house was on fire and we came running to the living room and we opened the door and then shut it back real quick 'cause the flames of course were right at the front door." the woman and child who jumped from the window went to the hospital. we're working to learn how they're doing. criminal charges are dropped against a navy petty officer - accused of stabbing a fellow sailor. petty officer 3rd class wilbur harwell was accused of attacking petty officer 2nd class justin powell with a knife in the barracks at portsmouth medical center in june of 2014. his attorney's tell us a psychologist found him to have a lack of mental responsiblity. there will be a hearing to determine if harwell should be released or should be confined becuase he is a danger. the newport news commonwealth's attorney has ruled: an officer-involved shooting death-- was justified. police say they tried

beaty on july 4th- but he took off. during the chase-- officers said they could see a gun, and it appeared as if he pointed it one of officers. that's when officer randy gibson fired three times-- hitting beaty in the head. those findings were released today-- and beaty's family is not satisfied. 09=35:35 "i don't care what nobody said. what no one said there is no 15=:50:23 "if he shot him in the head, if he shot him in the chest he could have shot him in the heart it doesn't matter once you have the right to use deadly force you have the right to eliminate the threat" 10-million-dollar lawsuit against the city-- and they say they plan to go forward with it. we are following shootings-- the latest-- this afternoon in washington state. five people are dead in what police are describing as a "horrific" apparent murder-suicide. police received calls about four shots being fired at a home southeast of seattle. a man called 9-1-1 saying he shot and

children. they say right when they got there-- the suspect killed himself. a 12-year-old girl was found at the home unharmed meantime-- authorities have identified the three people killed during a shooting at a kansas factory. 30-year-old renee benjamin, 44-year-old brian sadowsky, and 31-year-old josh higbee all died when when cedric ford opened fire. police say he randomly shot at people while driving and when he got to the excel industries plant on thursday evening. the hesston, kansas police chief shot and killed ford inside the plant. at least 14 people were wounded. still ahead-- bad news from the tax man that you don't expect. more problems with a cyber attack-- bigger than once thought. see how many people may now be affected. and right after the break-- as cleanup efforts get underway in waverly-- you'll hear one couple's horrifying story of mother

a closet-- when the storm came through. donna says if it weren't for her husband's quick thinking -- she wouldn't be alive today. donna richardson tappahannock resident 00-13 my husband heard the noise and he said get in the closet so we went in the closet anyone in there and i said what's that he said that is the roof coming off the upstairs next we started hearing nails popping and then the whole bottom of the downstairs disappeared underneath us and my husband jumped on top of me donna suffered a broken leg and a broken hip. essex county officials report-- at least ten homes were destroyed by the tornado. tonight: mainly clear. cold. lows: upper-20s. winds: n 5-10 mph. saturday: mostly sunny. still cool. highs: mid-40s. winds: light n to w. sunday: sunny skies. much warmer! highs: low-60s. winds: sw 10-15 mph. we have been enjoying a decent amount of sunshine

wavy news 10 today. the cyberattack that hit the i-r-s is apparently bigger than everyone thought-- including the feds themselves. a new government review found hackers potentially accessed over 720- thousand taxpayer data starting in february 2015. that's about 390-thousand more than initially

the i-r-s first reported the attack in may 2015 and claimed the attackers hit about 100-thousand accounts. the agency says it will mail affected taxpayers beginning monday about the hack. j-c penney is living up to its name with its newest campaign. the chain says it will start offering some items for just one-cent.
