we are just a day away from super tuesday, and hampton roads is at the center of all of it. two candidates will make stops in the area later today. hillary clinton will be at lake taylor high school in norfolk this evening. the former secretary of state has a lot of momentum coming into super tuesday, after taking a decisive victory over senator bernie sanders in south carolina. at today's event, she hopes to take her message to the voters. her campaign says she'll explain why she's the best candidate to represent the democratic party in november by speaking on issues like jobs, college affordability, and criminal justice reform. clinton's event starts at eight and is free to anyone who wants to go. and she has a big lead in the polls in virginia. monmouth university released a poll thursday showing clinton leads sanders by 27 points.

against the school by a student. school officials say the student made the threat in the cafeteria friday afternoon. officials say the adminstration acted quickly and the student was punished. a message sent to parents by the principal says the police are aware of what happened. a motorcyclist is recovering after a crash last night. police tell us it happened at the intersection of first colonial road and mill dam road. the rider went to the hospital with critical injuries. we're still working to find out more details from police. part of first colonial road was closed overnight while a team investigated the crash. as soon as we get more details we'll pass them along to you. we now know how a fire check out this unbelievable video a viewer sent us of a fire inside a commerical building. this happened around 1:45 yesterday afternoon on jefferson avenue near 17th street. firefighters say workers

roof started the fire. it was contained to just the roof. one person was inside the building at the time, but got out safely. firefighters got the fire under control in about 30 minutes, and no one was hurt. portsmouth police are investigating two separate shooting incidents involving children from over the weekend. the first shooting happened on lancer drive just afte 10:40 yesterday morning. 30 minutes later, police say a second child was shot on moregate lane. in the first shooting, police say a 7-year-old boy shot himself in the hand. his mother was already driving him to the hospital when police learned about it. police say the boy was at home playing with a gun that was not locked up. the second shooting happened around 11:15 on morgate lane, in churchland. in this case police say another child accidentally shot the 9-year-old boy in the leg while playing with a gun. he went to the hospital and should be okay. police say charges are pending in both incidents. still ahead - people come together to remember an

exposion. while firefighters were fighting the fire, another propane tank exploded. no firefighters were hurt in that blast. the driver of the car and the couple inside went to the hospital. family members say the couple died of their injuries. hundreds of people gathered in prince william county to remember a police officer killed in the line of duty. a suspect shot officer ashley guindon during her first shift with the department. people lit candles and held a moment of silence for officer guindon. she was just sworn in to the prince william county police department friday and was out in the field for the first time when the suspect killed her. two other officers were hurt by bullets and are called officer guindon inspiration.: (s/ chief stephanhudson / prince william county police department :13) "this is about being together, this is about wrapping an arm around somebody that you care about, this is about leaning on each other,

(s/ chief stephan hudson/ prince william county and skilled in so many ways." the chief says guindon was an intern with the department before going to the police academy. she was also in the marine corps reserves. meanwhile, we are learning more about the suspect police say killed officer ashley guindon. investigators also say 32-year-old ronald hamilton killed his wife, 29- year-old crystal hamilton before the officers showed up to the house. the couple's 11-year-old son was inside at the time, but he managed to escape and wasn't hurt. when police officers reponded to the home, hamilton started shooting at them, hitting three of them. hamilton is a staff sergeant stationed at the pentagon. the commonwealths attorney for prince william county says he will face a capital murder charge. he could be sentenced to death if convicted. we are learning more about the shooting of a teenager by police in utah. offcials indentified the teen. he is 17-year-old abdi mohamed.

in a coma after the shooting, but he's awake now. the salt lake city police department says its officers saw two boys attacking a victim with metal objects. when the officers ordered them to drop their weapons, mohamed allegedly kept hitting his victim, and that's when officers shot him. however, the shooting prompted riots and neighbors are very upset about how police handled the situation. laura says: "you gotta respect this place" laura says: "we're like family out here. and whatever happened last night was injustice." mos says: "i saw the cops tell him drop it." mos says: "what did they think he was going to do with a freakin' broomstick? like stabbed people? come on! and then three shots too? that's ridiculous." the shooting is still being investigated. the teen is recovering in the hospital. rescuers saved a man who fell off the edge of a cliff. the accident happened in san diego yesterday afternoon. rescuers say the man was flying a remote control airplane when it crashed to the rocks below. the man

catch someone soon. robert wineman/victim ((c271 15:32)) "i'm an easy going man but i was very angry that down the street i'd probbaly want to go and shoot the windows out, you know." another neighbor told 10 on your side he found what looked like ammunition for a slingshot on the hood of his car. he said it looked like a marble. other neighbors told police they think the criminals shot frozen paintballs pellets to break the windows. millions of dollars are coming to virginia to help with disaster prevention. much of that money will help combat flooding in norfolk. the city says, it will get part of a 120- flooding due to sea level rise. these neighborhoods include tidewater gardens, grandy village, calvert square, huntersville, and chesterfield heights. part of the plan is to add to the shorelines to keep rising waters back. experts say norfolk is the second most vulnerable area in the country for flooding, after new orleans.

he's working on a defense budget that would bring more work to local shipyards. newport news shipbuilding says its struggled with getting work and had to lay-off hundreds of people. senator kaine told us there's a new project coming. am hamp kaine on shipyard / c01 03:13 - 03:31 "there's a little bit of done with in december, there's going to be a new level of investment of buliding the ohio class submarine replacement. traditionally the shipyard here has not had that work. but now the shipyard will get part of that work." senator kaine says it will be a couple of years before local shipyards see that work. today he'll hold a roundtable discussion with small ship repair companies to hear their concerns. planning consultants and norfolk city officials will hold a discussion on the future of military circle mall. they want you to learn more about the big changes ahead for the area. earlier this month, city council voted to back a 1 4-and-a-half-million-doll ar loan by the economic development authority to bring new businesses to the

starting on wavy news 10 at 4. we are hearing from an american student arrested by police in pyongyang last month. north korean officials presented otto warmbier to the media earlier today. warmbier is a student at u-v-a. officials say they arrested the him for "perpetrating a hostile act against north korea on behalf of the u-s governement." the 21-year-old is accused of stealing a political slogan from the staff-only section of the hotel where he was staying while on a trip during the winter break. he publically apologized for his actions. (otto frederick warmbier/detained u.s. student) "i wish that the united states administration never manipulated people like myself in the future to commit crimes against foreign countries. i entirely beg you and the government of dpr korea for your forgiveness. please, i've made the worst mistake of my life, but please act to save me.

to help free his arm from a vending machine. take a look at this. it took crews more than six hours to get the boy out of the marchine. he got his arm so far into the machine, that he caught it in the anti-theft device. emergency responders had to use anesthetics at least three times to calm the boy down. the boy's father says this happened because the boy was facinated by something he had never seen before.
