(23) 34:28 i don't understand how he got charged with malicious wounding when he tried to kill me. i don't understand that. :37 i asked portsmouth police about that -- a spokesperson explains, officers charged jones based on the information they had that night.

misty holley says that curiosity may have led to two shootings on sunday. the first happened around 10:40 a-m on lancer drive. police say say a mother called 911 telling them she was taking her 7-year old son to the e-r because he'd been been shot. police say the little boy was playing with the gun and shot himself. sot - detective misty holley, portsmouth police - clip 1 56:54 its a very tragic, tragic and traumatic expericnce for a 7 year old to see theiur hand hurt adn to feel the pain of being shot. 57:04 about 40 minutes after that call...and eight miles away... 911 dispatchers got another call saying a 9- year old little boy had been shot in the leg. this happened outside of a townhome on morgate lane. police say in this case, another child found the gun and accidently shot the 9-year old. sot - monica riddick, neighbor - clip 33 1:13:29 anything can happen neighbor monica riddick 33 1:14:28 the mother, as any mother she was upset. very upset and concerned as any mother would be. 1:14:33 police say there are ways to protect children from guns. first education - sot -

the suspect accused of shooting and killing a police officer in prince william county - had his first court appearance today. 32 year old ronald hamilton will remain behind bars without bond. investigators say he also killed his wife -- and shot and wounded two other officers. this all happened saturday evening. officers were responding to a domestic violence call at hamilton's home. hamilton opened fire as the officers approached. 32 year old officer ashley guindon was

day on the job. hamilton is due back in court in april. a funeral service will be held tomorrow for officer guindon. the other two officers are expected to make a full recovery. we're following developing news out of ohio -- a shooting at a high school just north of cleveland. according to the sheriff's office in madison township ohio -- a 14 year old student -- pulled out a gun and opened fire in a cafeteria. two students were shot. two other students were hurt as they tried to get away. none of their injuries appear to be life- threatening. the suspect ran from the school -- but he is now in custody. according to our sister station w-d-t-n -- the teen has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and making terrorist threats. authorities say they have an idea of what the motive might be -- but they're not releasing any details at this time. also in ohio -- a man suspected of killing a pastor -- did not appear in court today as planned. police say daniel schooler shot and killed his older brother -- the reverend william schooler. it happened at

just as sunday morning service was wrapping up. schooler may be in court tomorrow to face murder charges. police say they did not know what led to the shooting, but that the pastor was the only target. family members say daniel has a history of mental illness. the trial of a former nazi medic -- has been put on hold -- after a doctor determined he was unfit to be transported to court. 95 year old hubert zafke was set to go on trial today in germany. he's facing more than 36-hundred counts of accessory to murder at the auschwitz death camp. a judge put the proceedings on hold after a doctor found he was suffering from stress and high blood pressure -- and had suicidal thoughts. prosecutors say zafke took part in sending thousands of prisoners to die in the gas chambers at auschwits. his attorney insists he did nothing criminal. if the trial moves forward - one witness will be a polish-born u-s citizen who survived auschwitz -- but lost

most upsetting for people long collecting information. erin? this has been a devastating loss for this small port town. many people have been out here all day looking at the twisted metal that sits in the water, where i have seen people along the dock taking a look at what remains. you can see a little bit of smoke still there in that twist of metal where a dock filled with boats used to be. >> we are pretty upset about it, but i know we are going to pull together. reporter: the neighbor shares a video of a fire that consumed heart of the arena early in the morning. the fire killed two people and destroyed 21 boats, two structures and two cars. they are investigating it as arson. >> i just can't imagine who would want to come down to the dock and set these boats on fire.
