of college students hannah graham and morgan harrington. a judge sentenced matthew to four consecutive life terms . the plea deal kept him from facing the death penalty. 10 on your side's erin kelly was one of just a few reporters who inside the packed courtroom. the families of graham and harrington had their first opportunity today to tell the judge what jesse matthew took from them. matthew looked down - as they talked about the abduction and murder of their young daughters and what life has been like since losing them. 18-year-old hannah graham was a uva student who disappeared in september 2014. police found her remains the next month on an abandoned property in albemarle county. in court today - her mother fought back tears - saying matthew dumped her daughter's body like a bag of trash - and that each day is that much darker without her. morgan harrington was a va tech student who vanished after attending a metallica concert at uva in 2009. authorities found her remains on a farm months later. her father told the judge - their world has gone gray, and ended by asking

stopped outside her car and he was driving a pickup truck like this one. reynolds' car was found later that day abandoned in culpeper. her remains were found in nearby lignum two months later. over the years --- authorities have released a sketch of a possible suspect and invesigated more than 10-thousand leads. virginia state police continue to encourage anyone with information in the case to come forward. new at 4--- state police have identified the victims in a deadly marina fire in urbanna. 75-year-old francis blantz and 65-year- old julia blantz died in monday's fire at dozier's port urbanna marina. friends of the victims say they were living on their boat while their home was under renovation. the fire destroyed 21 boats. police are investigating it as arson. new information in a portsmouth homicide investigation. three more suspects are in custody for the shooting death of a teenager. u-s marshals say they found rodderick britt, andre keel, and jalon trotter hiding out this moring in an

made towards a student at lakeland. officers were there today as a precaution. parents got this message today: "...word was received that there was a possible conflict between two students. because the situation had the potential to present additional concerns, it was addressed by providing extra security..". a developing story in norfolk. that's where police are working to track down two 7-eleven robbery suspects. it happened around midnight at a store on granby street. detectives say two men walked in wearing dark clothing and bandanas covering their faces. they demanded money at gunpoint and ran out with the cash. no injuries are reported. another robbery investigation in norfolk. a woman says she was assaulted and robbed around 6 a-m on lafayette boulevard if you have any information in either of these robberies --- call the crime line. now to a missing persons case turned death investigation. the mysterious death of anjelica hadsell -- who vanished one years ago -- is still very much a mystery. but are police any closer to finding out how the teenager died? 10 on your side's joe fisher has followed every twist and turn in this

crews in southwestern new york are removing cars from a derailed norfolk southern train. more than a dozen cars from the freight train derailed around 11-30 last night near the pennsylvania border. three of the cars were carrying hazardous materials. crews contained two tankers that were leaking ethanol and a derailed tanker containing propane. there was no fire. the fire department evacuated dozens of nearby homes. (stella zeigler/mechanic street resident) "first it was the house shaking real bad, and then the train to derailed right in front of our house." (jill otto/south state street resident) "i just heard a loud ... almost like a tornado was coming through. it was

just a loud wooshing, screeching noise." a conducter and an engineer were the only people on the train. they aren't hurt. this time last week --- we were covering a deadly tornado in waverly. three people inside a mobile home died. eight other people were hurt. countless homes and businesses are destroyed. today 10 on your side's deanna leblanc returned to the community to see how residents are doing one week later. the outpouring of support - as we've mentioned before - has been overwhelming for many in the town. even today, i saw several church groups from other communities dropping off supplies - but many in town are still in shock. the clean-up in waverly has now been going on for days - this street was covered in debris seven days ago - now what's left to pick up is neatly gathered in piles - and the traffic is flowing normally once again. this is becoming a popular sight in waverly. roofing crews, making much needed repairs. a row of blue tarps now covers the homes that

himself. in january, he made a motion to not use his court appointed attorney - who represented him in his last trial related to sex crimes and his niece. motions and witness discussion - the judge out of hand. not only were several motions made by muslimani that were discussed in previous hearings. he had a long list of people that were subpoenaed only yesterday. some included commonwealth's attorney gary agar, politicians, 5 attorneys, and 2 people that have already died. muslimani about this after he left court. sot --khalil muslimani - defendant c1 2:58:39 are you still going to defend yourself when it comes back to the trial in july. yeah. i'm going to defend myself because i know my case backward and forward and i can speak for myself. the judge has continued this trial until july. muslimani is facing one count of rape and one count of indecent liberties

"the spot" as its being calling will be a community hub. simply put it will be a place for families and groups to gather. officials say there will be things like mentoring, tutoring, spoken word events and even book club gatherings there. this is where the spot will be...in a townhouse that was once rental property. its on pickering street in the lake edward community. the non-profit group, virginia beach community

lex --- so far, no one has been charged. that's right, stephanie. police aren't saying which driver had the right-of- way. but they did tell us about the e-m-s chief who was driving. i found this photo on the city's website. brigade chief jeffery brennaman has been with the ems department for 31 years. he was on duty at the time of the crash, driving an ems s-u-v. but police say, brennaman was on his way to the city garage, not an emergency scene. he's now on administrative duties, while police investigate. i couldn't reach brennaman today...but his boss, e-m-s chief ed brazle sent out a statement. he wrote -- "this is a tragedy and i brennaman's driving record - but he said he couldn't comment on that. i checked virginia beach court records, and didn't find any traffic offenses. police tell us the victim

is 88-year-old doris baxter. i went to her house today, but the woman there said the baxter's granddaughter, who was driving the car -- is too upset to talk. coming up in our next hour of news, you'll hear from a man who was working nearby when the crash happened. live in virginia beach, lex gray, 10 on your side. two people died when an s-u-v crashed into a pizza restaurant in massachusetts. it happened around 6:00 last night, during the height of the dinner rush. paramedics took 7 other people to the hospital. first responders covered the restaurant with red tarps while they removed the victims. police say the driver survived. witnesses say the suv came barreling down a hill and failed to stop at an intersection, before plowing into the restaurant. watch as an s-u-v crashes into a florida sushi restaurant. it happened just north of miami. the manager says the driver had just finished eating. police charged the driver with distracted driving and driving without a

license. no one was hurt. a nebraska boy is lucky to be alive after an s-u-v slammed into his house. that's because he moved his bed to a different spot in his bedroom. family members say the car landed in the old spot where his bed used to be. a neighbor's surveillance video shows the s-u-v tearing through the lawn, running over a street sign and right into jeffrey's room. ( jeffrey moore) "i heard a big ol' boom and then like, sizzling noises like, the whole car came in." "luckily i moved because if i was still there i would have been hurt or dead. god is a blessing because i'm still here." no one was hurt. police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. now to a scary scene in china where a toddler fell out of a moving van in the middle of traffic. check it out, you see the child there in pink fall, and then get up running. the grandfather driving didn't notice the child was missing.

a car behind him picked up the boy and later reunited him with his grandfather. the child appeared to be unharmed. the two-year-old apparently crawled from the passenger seat into the back during a red light. the grandfather says the trunk has been loose since a car recently rear-ended it. another early arrival for royal caribbean's anthem of the seas. the ship returned to new jersey overnight to avoid a storm. there was also a norovirus outbreak on board. this is the second time within a month the ship's voyage has been cut short. this is the same ship that hit a bad storm with 30 foot waves off the coast of cape hatteras in february. several passengers were hurt and the ship had to turn back. a louisiana woman has quite the story to tell after she survived a tornado! watch this amazing surveillence video of her getting caught up in the twister. she tried to get inside this hardware store for safety, but the doors were locked. she even tried

to hold onto a soda machine. she still says she has no idea how she survived.
