year-old james hopkins - is seen hitting and choking this 12-year-old boy. c10 01:0719 "i mean that's pretty, pretty messed up i mean just that video it looks bad it looks really bad." police in newport news say it happened wednesday afternoon. the boy - reportedly a student at crittenden middle school - can be seen hitting hopkins back. c10 01:08:00 "i mean by he was trying to protect himself from the child swinging at him." school spokeswoman michelle price says surveillance video on the bus shows wrongdoing on both sides. the student reportedly acted inappropriately before hopkins pulled over, and the situation turned physical. police say no one was hurt. hopkins was charged with misdemeanor assault and released. price tells us the student is facing a long-term suspension.
