((c1 6:18)) "your mind runs through a whole bunch of different scenerios. could be this person, could be that person, she did this, she did that." court papers filed in federal court thursday could potentially bring answers sooner rather than later. federal attornies say there's a "strong possibility" that another

him questions they knew he would lie about. questions like has he ever taken a bribe, specifically did he take a 25,000 bribe which at the time had nothing to do with bank of the commonwealth trial. burfoot of course answered no. prosecutors are now using his testimony under oath against him. the feds charged burfoot with 8 counts of corruption and perjury. they say he accepted more than 475 thousand dollars in bibes and kickbacks. burfoot is scheduled for trial in may. in just a couple weeks a judge will rule on those motions. jason marks 10 on yoour side the u.s. supreme court will hear former virginia governor bob mcdonnell's appeal of his corruption conviction on april 27th. the high court released it's schedule today. the supreme court is expected to issue a decision by the end of june. in 2014 --- a jury convicted mcdonnell and his wife, maureen, of doing political favors for a wealthy executive- all in

$165-thousand dollars in gifts and loans. mcdonell's lawyers will argue the federal jury unfairly convicted him on an overly-broad definition of bribery. the peninsula health district says a skunk found in james city county has tested positive for rabies. it was found on richmond road in the area near anderson's corner. if you think you or your pet were exposed to the skunk by a bite or scratch call the health department. the u-s-n-s laramie is returning home from a three-and-a-half month deployment. the military oiler's crew of civil service has been in the middle east and mediterranean sea refueling ships and replenishing them with supplies and cargo. this is video of a previous homecoming. the laramie is scheduled to pull into naval station norfolk tonight. tomorrow morning, newport news shipbuilding will christen its newest submarine, the washington. elisabeth mabus, daughter of secretary of the navy ray mabus, will do the honors of smashing a bottle of champagne across the sub's bow. the washington is the latest virginia-class submarine.

boat under construction at the shipyard. crews first laid her keel in november of 2014. the o-j simpson saga continues with possible new evidence. los angeles police are investigating the discovery of a knife on simpson's former property. "the off duty or retired officer was working in the area of the rockingham estate. he claims an individual who claims to be a construction worker, provided him with this knife claiming that it was found on the property. he held on to it until just recently when we discovered that he had it." in 1994 --- simpson was aquitted of murder charges in the 1994 stabbing deaths of his ex-wife nicole brown simpson and her friend ron goldman. no matter what happens in the knife investigation --- simpson can't be tried again because of the double jeopardy clause. the brentwood mansion where the infamous white bronco pursuit ended was sold to comply with requirements of a civil suit.

new at 4 - virginia lawmakers are one step closer to removing funding for planned parenthood. a senate committee approved the bill -- which goes for a full vote on monday. 10 on your side's erin kelly has been talking to its concerns. planned parenthood says the bill puts politics

the money it has received from the state does not fund abortions. house bill 1090 would prevent the virginia department of health from entering into a contract with planned parenthood. right now the state has a contract for $25,800 dollars with the planned parenthood office that operates in hampton roads. the state says those are federal dollars that are used for sexually transmitted disease prevention and testing. the capital news service reports -- the bill's sponsor has said the legislation would defund the organization and redirect funds to more comprehensive health care for women." on the phone - c0001 - cianti stewart-reid - bill is clear, to shame women who access safe and legal abortions and to ban funding to their health care providers, which is planned parenthood 26 robert durel - holy spirit catholic church c0012 - 1405 they say it permeates the whole

eating yogurt could help protect women against high blood pressure. the research is from boston university. the study found women who ate five or more servings of yogurt a week had a twenty percent lower risk

hypertension than those who ate it once a month. doctors found weaker results in men. men typically eat less yogurt than women. the national dairy council funded the research. researchers are working to find new ways to protect children from developing peanut allergies. a new study out of london found if you give children under the age of one peanut proteins - they are less likely to develop allergic reactions to peanuts by age 5. they found that the practice has a protective effect lasting almost a year after a child hasn't had any peanuts. it's still unclear how much peanut protein a child should consume for this practice to be effective or for how long . the children in the study ate the peanuts under a doctor's supervision. drinking a lot of coffee could help reduce the risk of multiple sclerosis. a new study of people in sweden and the u-s found rates of m-s were consistently higher among those who drank little or no researchers have linked drinking six or more cups a day to a 30- percent lower risk of the

system --- along with medications used for sedation or to treat anxiety. morphine was also found. tests could not determine whether the morphine resulted from heroin use. the 22-year-old daughter houston and bobby brown last year. first responders found her face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub in her townhome. yesterday --- a judge granted media requests to have the autopsy unsealed. investigators couldn't figure out if her death accidental. the families of three maine residents who died when "el faro" sank in october have accepted settlements from the ship's owner. court documents say tote services inc. has agreed to pay $500-thousand dollars to each of the families for quote "pre-death pain and suffering". the company will also pay an unspecified amount for economic loss caused by the deaths. a maine newspaper reports settlements with the families of 14 of the 33 crew members who died. tote services is pursuing settlements with the families of all the victims. el faro went

during a hurricane in october. men from chesapeake and virginia beach are among the men who died. crews found the wreckage in about 15-thousand feet of water near the bahamas. japan's prime minister is suspending work on moving a u.s. marine base to okinawa. the central government and okinawa have sued each other over the base relocation plan. the prime minister has agreed to resume talks. but he says the government's plan to move the base from one part of okinawa to another has not changed. the relocation is based on a 20-year-old agreement to reduce the burden of the u.s. military presence on okinawa. opponents want the base moved off okinawa entirely. "el chapo" is having such a hard time in prison --- that he wants to be extradited to the u-s. the mexican druglord's attorney says el chapo is chronically sleep- deprived and is getting sick. el chapo apparently wants to be transferred to the u-s--- where he's ready to plead guilty to drug trafficking. but the attorney says the druglord would do that only if he's held in a medium- security

the federal government is investigating complaints that the brakes can fail on some ford f-150 pickup trucks. the national highway traffic safety

probe covers about 420-thousand pickups from the 2013 and 2014 model years. the agency says it has 33 complaints. some drivers report that the pedals can suddenly go to the floor with a complete loss of braking. four crashes are reported. the agency will check into how often the problem happens and whether a recall is necessary. there's a movie merger in production. a-m-c theatres is buying rival car-ike cinemas for about one billion dollars. the merger will create the largest theater chain in the world. it will have more than eight-thousand screens. the deal should be complete by the end of the year. five women are suing to block new york's so-called "tampon tax". the tax imposes a four-cent luxury tax on feminine hygiene products. right now tampons and sanitary pads are regarded as "general merchandise". so they are not eligible for tax-free status. the women suing want the state tax department to classify them as "medical supplies". they say the tax is unfairly imposed on a

it's decision day when it comes to the future of trash pick up in hampton roads. it's a story we first reported yesterday. today tspsa chose a new disposal provider. a choice the executive director says could save cities millions. 10 on your side's matt gregory is live in portsmouth with this 10 on your side follow up. since 2010 this wheelabrator plant has consumed a majority of spsa's trash. but after a meeting today, a new group comes

the same job cheaper, with technology that's new to the united states. today 3 companies presented their final proposals to the spsa board. the incumbent-- wheelabrator, as well as republic trash services and repower south. after looking at the prospoals spsa's board went with repower south. the company's bid came in roughly 20 dollars per ton cheaper. spsa;s one sticking point at first-- was that the type of plant repower will build-- has never happened in u-s but the director seemed excited about the possibility. rowland taylor / spsa executive director "if this can continue and goes to fruition this could be a complete changer for waste disposal throughout the entire united states." it's not all set in stone. you see the communities involved in spsa need to agree to stay together past 2018. coming up at 6:15 you'll see why that may not be set in stone. in

now to a tragic story out of washington state. three children died in a house fire. the three kids were in an upstairs bedroom. the mother was downstairs. she couldn't rescue her children as they slept and called 9-1-1. firefighters jumped on the roof to try and break a bedroom get in. sgt. carl "she was obviously grief-sticken, in shock. it's the hardest grief to bear, the death of a child...then to lose all once....i couldn't imagine." the cause of the fire is under investigation. a driver is in custody in california after police say he intentionally slammed into the garage door of a federal building. a worker was hurt. it's unclear if the driver was aiming for the worker or the building. investigators say the driver had a grudge against the government. hundreds of workers were forced to wait to leave the building last night during the investigation. also in california --- road rage caught on tape. a man got out of his

wednesday --- and started hitting the passenger of a pickup truck in front of him. then the truck's driver hops out and kicks one man. the fight goes on for about 30 seconds until witnesses broke it up. everyone involved got in create dangerous driving conditions. and no one knows better than the police chief in one vermont town. that's what it looked like from his s-u-v as it slid off the road when he lost control of his own vehicle. the s-u-v slid backwards down a hill and landed on its side in a ditch. frank koss/ hinesburg police chief "yeah it was a little bit scary. you just don't know what's going to happen and i was comfortable i wasn't going to get hurt. and i was in our chevy tahoe in four-wheel-drive and it just didn't work at all" the chief was not hurt. after a truck pulled him from the ditch ---
