we're following two breaking news stories at this hour. there are two different shooting investigations going on right now. the first one is in norfolk, the second is in hampton. lets start off with the norfolk shooting. police continue to look for the suspect they say shot and killed a 38-year-old man. this happened along kingston avenue between grove avenue and beaumont street. 10 on your side's matt gregory is live at the scene - and matt police are asking for help locating a car connected to this. i just alked to norfolk police, they tell me they believe the suspect is in a blue or grey small car, with front end damage. police say somone from that car shot the man inside this white van. police say around 2

call came in for shots fired. officers arrived on the scene and found the driver of this white van with gunshot wounds you can see the front end damage to the van, like it crashed into the wall. detectives searched the van. determine where the suspects went. the man died at sentara norfolk general hospital. after this murder at least one neighbor doesnt wanna leave their home. vanessa carter-west / neighbor c0032 norfolk police say if you see the small grey or blue car with front end damage. call police, don't approach the suspects are armed. in norfolk matt gregory

and police need your help to find the person responsible for shooting a man in hampton. we know the man was found on nickerson boulevard around 3:30 this afternoon. officers found the man with life threatening injuries after being shot. he's been taken to the hospital for treatment. the shooting is still under investigation. and we have new information about a third shooting -- this time in newport news. just before 2:30 this morning police found two people shot at a party. a 17-year-old newport news teenager was shot in the back and his left thigh - he's in the hospital with what's 18-year-old hampton woman was shot in the leg. police still need your help to find the man they think is responsible. if you have information about that shooting, call the crime line. we have a follow-up to a story we first brought to you last night. take a look at this new video of more an big paint spill in chesapeake. you can see dozens of blue and white buckets in the south hill community. fire investigators believe someone poured as much as 500-gallons of paint into the ditches there.

don't forget to always stay connected through our wavy weather app. it's free for all apple and android users. we're following developing news out of portsmouth - city manager lydia pettis patton has suspended a fire fighter - for speaking with the media - including 10 on your side. 10 on your side confirmed that rusty quillin, who also serves as president of the local fire union received a 2-day suspension. quillin spoke to 10 on your side in november and december of last year over concerns about staffing. the city council froze vacancies within the department last year. the fire union spokesman says they're currently seeking legal advice on what to do next. we've reached out to spokesperson for the city of portsmouth - we'll let you know when we hear back. we're following breaking news from kansas. texas senator ted cruz is projected to win the kansas republican presidential caucuses.

we're following a time saver traffic update for you this evening. traffic is moving a lot smoother along interstate 264 in norfolk. just before 9 this morning - a call came into police saying a car caught on fire near the military highway exit. traffic was backed up past the broad creek bridge because of lane closures. nobody was hurt in the fire. we have another traffic alert for you... the midtown tunnel will be closed tomorrow evening starting at 6. drivers will be sent to the downtown tunnel while the midtown tunnel is closed. the tunnel will reopen monday morning at 5. still ahead - predicting tornadoes - more than a week after twisters killed people across the commonwealth - we'll tell you why researchers say they're closer than ever to forecasting twisters days in advance. and - honoring a fallen officer - we'll tell you what people are doing to remember virginia officer ashley guindon a week

the navy is celebrating the addition of a new submarine. the virginia-class submarine washington was christened at the newport news shipyard this morning. it took more than a year for the submarine to be completed. wshington is the seventh virginia- class submarine made by newport news. nearly 4-thousand shipbuilders took part in the construction process. vice admiral joseph tofalo spoke at today's event. 38.55.27 "it truly is a momentus day and it is my distinct pleasure to be with you this morning for the christening of this magnificant new submarine." the daughter of the secretary of the navy's daughter smashed the bottle

it's been a week since rookie police officer, ashley guindon was shot to death in prince william county. guindon was on the first day of the job - when she was shot to death while responding to a domestic argument in woodbridge. people in springfield, massaschusetts are honoring guindon. a wake is scheduled for tomorrow - her funeral is monday in west springfield. she was 28 years old. newport news police are going to be looking for people who are drinking and driving this weekend. between 8:30 and 2:30 overnight - additional officers will be patroling where people are most likely to be drinking or under the influence of drugs. the dui patrol is through a division of motor vehicles traffic safety grant. officials say they will not let people know the exact locations of the patrol. it's been nearly two weeks since deadly tornadoes moved across the commonwealth. now - researchers say they've come up with a way to predict the likelihood of tornadoes two or three weeks in advance. researchers say this is a step in the right direction to better warn people of the severe storms. on
