we sent lex there. lex: i tried to reach the superintendent and members on the school board. only one member answered and the superintendent called back late this afternoon but would not answer my questions, even when i asked if parents should feel safe about their students being in school. rumors fly, so you can imagine why parents want to know why principal james woods is on administrative leave. stephanie carlson is one of many parents who said he makes a difference in kids' lives. >> he interacted with them and made sure they were driven toward a bright future and you could tell that was his passion. lex: she could not believe when he was escorted out of the school. they don't even know who is in

>> who is keeping an eye on our kids? you have taken mr. woods away. lex: i'd spoke to the superintendent and asked what was going on. does this have anything to do with student safety? williams: me state law prevented him from answering those questions. i asked which law and he said an attorney would contact me. i did reach one board member who said who could not talk about the investigation and told me he believes students are safe and parents should not be alarmed. >> it is too dramatic when the school board could have said everything is fine. it is a staff situation or whatever. give us something.

lex: the sheriff said it is not a criminal case. it you can count on 10 on your side to work to get answers from the school board and superintendent. tom: to portsmouth and four years of waiting for justice in a murder case and it will have to wait again. it all the end with the discovery of a man dead in a burning car. the horrific stabbing resulted in the rest of key and today for the third time that case was continued. jason marks has more on the change and an update on the case. jason: there is a lot on the line. one family will get justice with a conviction and it could mean another family could have closure. what is happening in this courtroom could have an impact ontwo families. today was meant to be the last hearing. he is accused of killing a

she was stabbed 120 times. we got a look at some of the crime scene photos and the weapons found at the scene. the defense argued they were given the photos so late they should be thrown out. the judge agreed to throw out all of them but seven. >> we have heard they are hoping this case will lead to answers. >> another family waits for news on the case. their loved one was killed on the same day. his body found in a burning car. they were friends. her body was discovered in his house. >> how can people live knowing they have taken someone's life like this? >> no one has ever been charged in the case. police believe the murders are connected. so far they have not had enough evidence to charge anyone. >> several people were involved

they have to know it is wrong. >> prosecutors say they plan to talk about what happened during the murder trial. the judge said that would not be allowed, but he will allow it this time. the attorney said she needs more time to prepare. for the third time, the trial had to be continued. and so far a new trial date has not been set. i spoke with police and they tell me they look for new leads. that is the latest here in portsmouth. anita: police are looking for a third suspect in a weekend homicide. police need your help finding cook. he played a part in the shooting in ocean view. he is considered armed and dangerous. police found robert king iii shot in a minivan. he died at the hospital.

hernandez, charged with second-degree murder. if you know tredell's whereabouts, call police. tom: a new pile of paperwork coming from 13 sources ahead of the former governor's date with the nation's highest court. the briefs are calling for the supreme court to reverse the corruption conviction. the names on the paperwork include state attorneys general, the republican governors association, lawmakers, and numerous civil rights leaders. it justices will take up the case on april 27. anita: still to come, not quite a done deal. why a bill to take money from planned parenthood may not make it all the way.

at six :00 with the tom schaad, don slater, and bruce rader with sports. tom: what an incredible day it has been in hampton roads. one of the many places to be outside today and there is more nice weatherhead. something people along the outer banks have been waiting for, a new bonner bridge. anita: ground was broken this morning. the current bridge has been on borrowed time. erin kelly has more on what is next. erin: the governor called this day historic and said building a new bridge was personal. >> it is awesome. something we wanted a long time. >> a brand-new connection to north carolina.

what oscar smith be able to continue his historic run? since it opened, oscar smith has never set a boys basketball team to the playoffs. that changed this season with the tigers winning their state quarterfinal game friday night, setting up a showdown today with battlefield. a big game for the tigers. a lot of pressure. you can see him in blue. isaiah chambers with a block on the other end. it is donald hicks with a layup. he had 22 points today. and then he comes up and hits the three. he is sensational. the game was tied after the first quarter. desmond also comes up with the three. he had 22 points. that we moved to the final

oscar smith up by two. the layout and that is going to put the game away. he had 15 points. the tigers win it and are not only in the state tournament for the first time ever, they are one win away from winning the first state basketball championship so the boys from oscar smith and lake taylor will play for state championships tomorrow. oscar smith will play the winner of tonight's game between 6a and westfield and we will have highlights tonight on the sportswrap. moving on to college basketball, old dominion is the fifth seed in the conference usa tournament down in alabama. they came on strong in the end of the season, with a four game winning streak. they will play tomorrow against the winner of tonight's game between florida and texas a&m.
