former ravens' quarterback steve mcnair little more than a year ago. now, an investigation into his murder. emotions are running high tonight in baltimore and in tennessee, where mcnair was shot and killed. pete gilbert joined us now with the latest on the investigation. >> it just does not make sense. one of the toughest people on this planet is not supposed to die at 36. steve mcnair just 15 months into retirement was found shot to death today leaving behind a wife and four children. a woman was also killed. >> this is the downtown national condominium where the body of steve mcnair was found with a gunshot wound to the head. an unidentified female victim was also found dead. police are investigating. they have released few details. >> one female, one male.

we know the mail deceased is steve mcnair. >> he played 13 seasons in the nfl, 11 with the tennessee franchise. he led the titans to the super bowl in 2000 and was an mvp in 2003. he also played for the baltimore ravens before injuries forced him to retire in april, to those in need. >> i played the game with a lot of passion. i played the game with a lot of heart. it showed of the course of my years. >> as one of the most beloved players, fans are shocked and saddened. >> i think it is a great tragedy that someone would do something to somebody that was so influential in national -- in nashville. >> he was a classic guide. >> a tragic ending as police tried to determine the circumstances behind the shooting. >> reagan stands a struggling with the news tonight. we caught up with some that have fond memories of steve mcnair.

>> he had a great career. he did great things in tennessee and then he came to baltimore. he led us to 13-3 that year. >> i feel for the family. and -- going to miss him. >> i was surprised to hear that mcnair was shot and killed today. mainly because he seemed like a laid-back guy. you never really heard about him getting in any trouble. it was just surprising to me. >> ozzie newsome released a statement offering condolences. "this is so sad. we immediately think of this family, his boys. they are in our thoughts and prayers. what we admired about him was his competitive spirit and we were lucky enough to have him for two years. he was one of the best players in the nfl over the last 20

commissioner exploded. he was fed up after thursday's shooting that started with a fistfight between teenagers. >> this really comes down to criminals, to thugs, to maniacs on our streets with little to no parental supervision or meaningful adult contact in their lives. >> police worked this case nonstop since the shots were fired, accidently striking a little girl named raven. the commissioner made it quite clear today that in his words, the government cannot fix baltimore's problem of gun violence. he made a direct appeal to families to be what he calls constructive citizens. >> we need everyone to step up and say, enough of these maniacs. i see you have a gun in your bedroom. i'm calling the police to come and get this done. you leave the house with the gun, i'm calling 911 so they can get you.

>> tonight, we spoke to mayor sheila dixon about the case. >> i am very pleased that the detectives and officers were able to apprehend one of the suspects. my prayers go out to raven and her family. >> little raven is on life support at university of maryland medical center. hartford county, police looking for the gunman who killed a man in aberdeen. officials found the victim dead in an apartment on pritchard ave.. two men fled the scene. we are told the vehicle was licensed in new york with tac erv5831. neighbors in baltimore county community are on edge after fifth carbon monoxide scare. firefighters were called to the apartment this morning. high levels of the poisonous gas were found inside a town home.

one person is now recovering of the local hospital. the last scare was on the first of july and crews were called to the scene every other day since the first incident on june 24. thousand descended on the inner harbor for the annual fourth of july celebration. the fireworks wrapped up an hour ago. melissa carlson was there. >> early estimates are putting it at 110,000 people that came here to the inner harbor. a lot of people are still milling around. faugh they do not want to give up -- they do not want to give up on what has been a great act. from the water in word, they could not find a place that was not pact. >> i like the weather. >> watching fireworks and spending time with the family. >> the nice people. >> being with my family. >> jordan drove down with his

overhead. a little bubble of high pressure and a storm system is back in missouri right now. the air is fairly dry. the actual low was going to slide to the south across kentucky and the north carolina and southern virginia. we will be on the north edge of this thing. it will not be the prime target for rain. the rain chance will be there. lots of moisture to the south. it will be trying to pull it northward. overnight tonight, generally cloudy skies. the best chance for shower activity would be toward daybreak. southwest wind at about 5. 58-62 the overnight low tonight. clouds tomorrow. there might be brakes of sunshine in pennsylvania. the further south you go, overcast. that is where the best chance for rain will be. 75-79 the high temperature tamara. boaters in the bay, winds will

superbowl appearance. within a single yard, he forced overtime against the rams. he shined my baltimore, leading the ravens to what 13-3 regular season record. he played the game with a passion rarely seen and left an impression on his teammate derrick mason. i spoke with mason earlier today. >> if you can have 11 guys on the field, you could win a bunch of games. it was just his presence on the field. his presence off the field as well. >> samari rolle also played with mcnair and sums up his feelings in this emotional statement. "if you're going to drop football player, the physical part, the mental part, everything about being a professional, he is your guy. i cannot wrap my arms around it. it is a sad day. the world lost a great man today."
