there. switching to a live view of traffic, harford road in contrast a very late ride on the northeast side. no problems on 95 and let's show you that problem on a map again, outer loop past southwestern boulevard. watch for delays there. we have another problem sinkhole inner loop at camp mead road. otherwise ok. back to you. >> our big story, baltimore county police and several federal agencies are involved in investigation into a light rail train that killed two teens sunday. kim dacey joins us live at the light rail station in lutherville with the details. >> what we do know is an m.t.a. light rail train hit two teens from behind as they were walking down the tracks sunday night and killed them. what we don't know is why the train operator didn't see them. that is why m.t.a. administrator paul weidefeld has called upon

the ntsb, federal transmit authority and others to offer expert consultation. weidefeld says police will review video and audiotapes from the trains involved and reinterview witnesses and also look for evidence to see if the driver was on a cell phone or texting at the time of the accident. the families of 17-year-old step brothers kyle wankmiller and connor peterson are hoping to get answers. >> why couldn't the conductor have seen them? he's supposed to have big windows around, eight-foot or 10-foot windows. what was he doing that he didn't see the boys? >> out of respect for the family i have asked baltimore county to take the lead on the case. >> the investigation is expected to take 30 days and will be handed over to the state's attorney's office. the driver has been taken out of service until the investigation is complete. >> new this morning maryland state police are investigating a

police-involved shooting in tawneytown just after 10:30 last night when a woman called for help at the 400 block of baltimore street. she was found lying in the road when an officer arrived. then moments later authorities say a man tried to run the woman and officer down with the vehicle. the officer was able to shoot the suspect in the arm. he is under police watch at shock trauma. a public member rely will take place in nashville today for former titan and raven quarterback steve mcnair. meanwhile homicide detectives have finished putting together the missing pieces of his death. they say his girlfriend so the him four times while he slept then turned the gun on herself. the motive, police say recent statements kazemi made to friends portrayed her at a financial and emotional breaking point. >> we believe she was paying payments on the escalade and on a kia and her roommate was about to leave and she had become very

distraught and on two occasions told friends an associates her life was all messed up and that she was going to end it all. >> police say kazemi believed mcnair was getting a divorce from his wife but suspected him of seeing another woman. >> fans came out to the titans field yesterday where mcnair played much of his career. more than 5,000 watched highlights and photos of his 13-year career. pete gilbert was there in nashville and has more on fan reaction. >> all day mcnair fans have waited in long lines to sign their personal tribute to leave a message for steve and watch a video tribute inside. unfortunately it is also the day we learn the particulars of what happened. according to police it was a murder-suicide and he was killed by his 20-year-old lover. hard to come to grips with. what fans are choosing to do is

remember what they saw, the greatness on the field and in the community. >> you have to try to put that out of your mind and think about his family and hope they can deal with it the best they can because it is hard for us. >> the titans opened their doors unsure of what the reaction from fans would be. quickly they learned it was the right thing to do. >> a chance to reflect on the great career that steve mcnair had and so many people have remarked how much they have meant to him not just as a player in the nfl for the tennessee titans or baltimore ravens, but for what he has done in the community. giving back with charities, signing ought fwrafs. the camps that he had. groups of kids off school buses to pay their respects to a gentleman that they look up to. it is truly been an emotional and remarkable day.

incredibly low humidity. they are basically the type in the winter. more moisture today but nothing that will make it unpleasant. we are dealing with a nice clear scan. not really many clouds. we had a clear night overnight and we are watching the low. we will probably hit it in about an hour. no record broken, the low 54 set in 1984. right now the lowest is 55 in frederick and 58 at the airport. the precipitation north will be d dissipa dissipating. 68 downtown is the warmest location as is typical in the summer but only 58 at the airport. 51 in york and 55 in frederick. quite crisp when you consider the calendar date of july 9. dew points still low to upper 50's. yesterday they were in the 40's but typical is the upper 60's. so the string of low humidity days continues. looks like 73 in the mountains of western maryland. fair weather cumulus clouds

pulse of the retail industry as most major chain stores release june same-store sales figures a measure of sales of stores open at least a year. already this morning costco the biggest u.s. warehouse club reporting a 6% drop. stock futures right now indicating a higher open for us on wall street and that is after a mixed close yesterday. commodities falling capping the longest line. as congress weighs the president's proposed consumer protection agency it guard against predatory lending practices, "u.s.a. today" is reporting those courtesy ov overdraft loans are coming under scrutiny. the 10 largest banks expect to make almost $40 billion from fees and penalties on the accounts. consumer advocates say banks make it difficult to avoid the fees which they call unfair and target the most vulnerable consumers. that is business news at the new york stock exchange. i'm michelle steele reporting
